BSOS

Post by peanutbuterboy »

I have been working like crazy on my other side but I have noticed that no matter how hard I try that I cant get my non dominant (left) side as clean as my dominant (right) side. Is this normal!?
Or is it just my fault...
Thanks,
Luke Andrews

it's normal. You have to skool flip more than enough to become bothsided - but don't let that stop you.

Patience. That only reason why, no matter how hard you try ismost likely because you've been shredding with you domonant side obviously longer than you flipside. I know this and I've noticed that. just work your flip more than your strong. This would result in your flip being on par with your strong....good luck..

Don't let the fact that your strong side can hit more tricks make you practice one side more. If you want to be truly both sided you have to practice both sides equally, maybe your weaker one a little more until they are equal in skill. It's real easy to fall into the rut of just using your strong side because it feels good to hit new moves. Don't!

What I said. work your weak side more than your strong side until they are equal to each other. Erik Chan said that you know you're truly BOSO'd when you do a trick and don't have to think about which side you should end or set with.

You're my hero Che!

Wait... aren't you dead 8O

Anyway it's been said - but basically practice flipside all the time - even more than strong side. I have some moves that feel just the same on both sides - pixie, stepping and atomic sets are very similar and butterflies. I also have a lot of moves that change sides depending on the which foot the set comes from. Torque is a great example. My strong clip set torque comes off my right foot. My strong toe torque is off my left foot. My strong pdx torque and mobius are both off my right foot, my strong baraquoe is off my left foot, my pixie torque is pretty close if not equal on both sides. But I drill all those moves and more when I drill my torques - but both sides all the time. Both sides should be everybodies motto.

when u start trying other concepts, like ducking and stepping, you may find that some things are suprizingly cleaner on ur flip. once ur flipside gets a some streght theres no telling what will happen :P

A really simple way to help achieve BSOSness is simply to always force yourself to start on your flip.

One. the 'O' I htink means one. so it's Both Sides on One String.
i think it's like hitting a certain trick then shredding that also on your flipside.

When I started playing footbag I was strong right bigfoot. I drilled my flipside very hard.
Then, like a half year ago I couldn't say wich clipper was better with all the sets and stuff, but I started to feel like I would be right sideways.
At the moment my left toe feels better than my right toe - at least sometimes - that makes me left bigfoot.
So I guess drilling flipside has brought me only to switched stance.
But I'm never sure about my stance...

Haha, that sounds so familiar, ana_ali! I used to be right-dominant when I was young(er), then somehow switched to left when I was about 15 years young. Then got into footbag at 20. And now it just depends on the trick/concept which side is best, if any. Pixie feels more natural on the right, but datw is definitely better left. :?
