Oh man, I wish I could hit flurry out of nowhere. It was probably a barrage or a DLO and your eyes deceived you. I've hit flurry a few times before but I didn't hit it at the tournament. Symposium paradon I've never even attempted, you must be thinking of flail. But anyways, it was cool of you to post all the happenings at the tournament. You're a good shredder, and we should definitely get together some time for a session. Eric, Reid, and I might be kicking with Scott Davidson some time next week, and I'll send you a message with all the details.

Hey Will, I might've been thinking of Brian instead...sorry! You were still rippin' it up though with the nice smooth and long runs. It was awesome when you came over to where Adam, Damien, and I were shredding after the Phat Trick event. Every time one of you guys came over (you, Tim, Reid, Brian, Scott,...), we were always like "This is soo cool. We're shreddin' with the pros!" So, the jam was the funnest ever! And yeah, that would be awesome if we could shred again next week. I love shredding with you guys! :D

P.S. Thanks for noticing the detail Adam and thanks for the kind words Byrin!

Man, I pulled some muscle near my hamstring (actually it's more like my left buttcheek...) at the end of the Xmas Jam and I tried shredding on Friday, but had to come inside only after 15 minutes because my I was hurting and didn't want to damage my injury even more! So, the past two days have been boring as hell for me, but on the plus side, I watched Tricks of the Trade 2 like a million times, but the tips are ones I've already gotten before for most of the stuff. Some stuff was new though and I can't wait to try some new stuff after my leg gets better.

So, after 2 weeks of holidays, I decided to start my homework today (because it's due tomorrow 8O) so, since around 11 a.m. till about 40 minutes ago (5:30 p.m.), I've been doing my AP US History homework. Man, that really sucked... :( Hopefully I'll be able to shred again sometime soon. Later.

No one was home today so I had to shred by myself! :( It was pretty fun though! I went down to this racquetball court and shredded for about 40 minutes. I didn't really accomplish anything new though except that I schooled my flip butterflies a lot. I realized I could make my strings longer if I could do more infinities (the most I ever did was 7 and I only did 5 at the most today! :(). I seem to be stuck at 5 infinities though and it's really frustrating me. I spent almost the entire 40 minutes trying to get more infinities but the eluded me. Damn!

Oh, I did get some good things out of working on infinities though. Now, I can ripwalk better out of butterflies than I can out of clippers. I could never ripwalk out of butterflies before (only could sidewalk out of them). :) Also, my pdx mirages somehow got a crapload better. Now, it's not like a 50/50 chance of hitting them; it's more like 75/25 now! So, I'm a little disappointed but also pretty happy about today.

What made me feel a lot better was when I got home and later on, while watiching the Illinois and Northwestern basketball game, I started having a little barefoot session and I hit pixie ducking legover for the first time ever and I footyed it flipside barefoot!!! 8O That's the first time I ever ducked a flip pixie!

Oh, I forgot. The reason I only shredded for a little bit today was because I hurt myself (again!). I was really tired but I kept shredding and I pulled something in my right quadricep and it was really acting up. So, I had to head back home! I'll post more after the next time I shred! Later!

I forgot to post yesterday but I finally got cable internet back!!! Whooooo! After a month of AOL, it feels awesome to have cable back. Man, dial-up is sooo slow when you switch from cable/DSL to it, and the downloads take forever! Also, I started playing my guitar again!! Yay! I got my guitar a year ago, played it for like 2 weeks and then, gave it up. But now, I'm back playing again and it feels great! I've learnt more in the past 3 days I've played my guitar again than I did in the 2 weeks when I first got the guitar! I've got an Epiphone Les Paul Special II by the way, in case anyone was wondering!

As for shredding, I shredded a little yesterday and a little today! I haven't been able to footbag much this week because this week is semester finals for me and I really needed to study hard for my finals. I'm done with finals today though, so I don't have to go to school tomorrow (unlike for most people who still have finals left!!)! So, hopefully, I'll shred some more tomorrow. I've been nailing dbl atws on my flipside like crazy and I've got flip clipset ducking clippers pretty well. So, I'm pretty happy right now. I'm gonna go play my guitar some more now! Later! :P

Nice bloggo.

You`ve hit gyro ripwalk?! 8O That`s crazy hard. You should put out more videos. Oh yeah, and fairy mobius is called Phobia. One of the best footbag trick names ever, imo. Enjoying the read a lot.
Go non-whitey shredders! :P

Thanks for the encouragement Ken!! I feel awesome now! :) Yeah, I made one video over summer but I was really, really bad back then. Now, I got some new footage but everytime I go to edit it, I always think that I should wait a little longer until I get better, so maybe one of these days (after it gets warmer), I'll make a video! And about the move name, yeah, I thought it was called phobia but I wasn't completely sure, so I just left it as fairy mobius!

Today, after a band rehearsal in the afternoon, a friend and I went over to a friend's house and shredded. I finally got whirls down tight! I figured out the secret and am angry that it took me this long to figure that out. Everything you read about planting soon is right; it just took me this long to get the timing for it right. :? After that, I came kinda close to blurry whirl on my strong side and sorta (not really) close on my flipside. I'll keep working on them though!!

AAAAANNNDDDD...some friends and I are planning on shredding with the Chicago Inner Circle guys this weekend (finally!)!!! So, this Sunday is going to be great fun. I'm done with semester finals and I did pretty good in all my classes and I just got back from a band concert that went pretty well (also, I'm listening to Stairway to Heaven right now, w00t).

Oh, also, I am finally able to change from one chord to another much smoother now!! So, I'm really excited about guitar right now! I still need to work on some music theory for my trumpet though (I've been playing my trumpet since 4th grade). I'll post more about any madness that will go down with the CIC this Sunday (hopefully...)!

I'm jealous, you're lucky to kick with those guys. Give us a good write up after your session. Have fun! :)

Hey guys, today was a pretty sweet day! My friend Kyle picked Dane and I up at around 1:50 and we went down to shred with some CIC guys. When we got there, I was a little disappointed because there were only 3 people there and I was expecting many more to show up. Once we started shredding though, it was all good again! :) The first thing we did when we got there (we shredded inside a mall!) was stretch and that was the first time that I really stretched since the tournament over winter break. I hadn't really kicked much since the tournament either, so today was a real treat.

Well, the first thing that happened to me after stretching was that I hurt myself (again dammit!). I was still in my pants and I was just kicking the bag around and went for a flip clipper (a freakin' flipside clipper!!!!) and I kinda kicked myself, landed hard on my bad ankle, and went down to the ground!! :? It sucked because I had to sit out for about 10-15 minutes to stretch out my ankle and get the pain to stop. Although my day started out pretty badly, it got a lot better. The CIC guys that were there were Jon Nagela, Kamil (a.k.a. quadgun), and Tom (I don't know his last name, sorry). These guys were real fun to hang out with. We started out just kicking a bag around in a circle without really doing any tricks and then, slowly, we went on to do some tiltless stuff. We had two circle with 3 people in each one. The circle I was in first was Tom, Jon, and me. This was a great circle and soon, Kamil joined us because Kyle and Dane started playing HORSE (one of them does a trick and if the other doesn't hit the same trick, he gets a letter, and so on).

Tom was just totally mackin' it out!! He is sooooo freakin' good. All his moves look so nice and smooth too, not choppy or anything. Also, he somehow saves many of his moves. I don't know how he does it but it would look like he would drop the bag after trying an awesomely hard move, and somehow he would save it and continue on with his run. The cool thing was that even when he had to save the bag from dropping, he would hit the move he was going for still without breaking his style!! 8O Then, later on, Jon tried to hit fairy muted swirling dragon and he was really close to hitting it. That was also one of the coolest moves I saw today. I got the hang of drifters a lot better today and they became more consistent. Then, Tom and Kamil got me to try a double legover and I almost had it on my first try. I kept on trying (both sides of course ) and eventually hit it both sides. So, I was really happy about learning a new move today. Kamil was bustin' out with some nice, smooth tiltless runs with some 3 adds in them. His knee was still hurting him so he didn't try anything too hard (although he did try pixie double legover!).

Dane and Kyle were doing pretty good today too. Kyle was butin' out with dimwalks and getting really close to reverse whirls. He tried a pixie reverse whirl and came really close to it (he tried this before but I was surprised he was this close to hitting it because he hadn't kicked in a while). Also, Kyle had a couple of tiltless combos, so it was pretty cool. And, in my opinion, Kyle has a really smooth style, so he was just doing real nice today with his tiltless combos. Dane had some nice long tiltless/guiltless runs so it was pretty sweet watching his combos. Once he gets his flipside better, he will be really awesome! Once again, I need to reiterate how freakin' amazing Tom is at footbag. His runs were so long and filled with hard tricks, it was soo cool. I think I want to take my camcorder with me the next time and make a video on Tom!! :) We got him to try pixie double legover (smog?) and he nailed it in about 3 tries!! Later on, he was trying flurry and hard stuff like that and was really close to them too. His runs had all sorts of moves including paradons, barrages (bsos most of the time), torques, atomsmashers, smears, a lot of double dexterities like double switchovers and double atws, and just so many hard moves. It was great watching Tom's runs.

So, at around 4:40, Jon, Tom, and Kamil said their goodbyes and left. Dane, Kyle, and I were still kicking when the others left because we were in the middle of an awesome game of HORSE. After that, my friends and I left and we stopped by Sam Ash because one of my guitar strings snapped yesterday while I was playing it (man, that felt good!!) and I needed new strings.

So, overall, today was wicked fun and I hope to have an awesome shred session like this again real soon!! :) I'm seriously thinking of taking my camcorder along with me the next time to make a CIC video. That would be pretty cool, I guess. Hope you guys enjoyed reading this!

W'sup man,

I was just reading your blog. The enthusiasm from your post makes me regret that I didn't come out. Sorry I missed sunday. Tom and Kamil were on the way to pick me up but I bailed out on them last minute. I've still got a cold and my body is still on Filipino time so my sleep schedule is all fucked up. I heard Reile and Tim were unable to make it as well.

I should be feeling better by next week's session. I'll see who else I can drag out with me
Hope to kick with you then.

Hey Kaushik,
I feel so bad for missing last Sunday's jam, especially since my main reason for it was that i was kinda half-sleeping :? . I've kinda stopped playing all together over the last 2-3 months, but just just reading your blog has made me want to get back into it sooooo bad. I'll definitely be kicking this sunday somewhere (probably Deerbrook mall again) with Tim and Tom, and hopefully Zeke too so I hope you can make it out and shred with us. I didn't really get to kick with you at all during the new years jam this year, but I saw you play a little you have a real smooth style and your phoenix was money :D . I can't wait to shred with you and your friends soon.

Peace,
Reile

Hey guys, I am really, really sorry that I haven't posted on this forum in a while (I seriously am!). The last month has been one of the busiest month of my life. Around the end of January up until February 2nd, I had practice everyday after school for the school's musical. We did "Guys and Dolls" this year and it was really fun because I was in the pit band and we were playing some really cool songs. But the practices weren't short one either, each one went from about 3:30 or 4:30 in the afternoon to about 8 or 9 at night. That was the killer part because I had soooo much homework to do everyday. I used to be up late every night working on homework, so I never really had the time to shred, even on weekends, because I tried to work ahead in homework for some of my harder classes so I wouldn't have to worry about them afterward. Our musical played February 3rd, 4th, and 5th; it went great and the crowd absolutely loved it!!! :D

That was one of the main reasons that I didn't shred with the CIC guys again. My weekends were soo busy. As for the past couple of weekends, once again, homework took over a lot of my free time. I was planning on going last Sunday because I had Monday off due to President's Day, but I was feeling sick that day and decided not to go at the last minute. Also, I've been really getting into playing my guitar a lot, so that's been taking up a lot of my free time as well. Because of all this, I haven't been able to footbag much this month at all! :?

Hopefully, everything will change soon. I'm going to start shredding everyday again like I used to. I'm in the Variety Show pit band now and my gymnastics season started 2 weeks ago (I made Varsity this year!!!!!!!! 8O)! So, I won't have much time during the weekdays, but I'm planning on making up for that over the weekends. I shredded a little bit over the past month though, and I'm coming really close to hitting stepping sets out of stuff like pixie osis and other moves with an osis sort of ending. My friends and I were planning on performing some footbag at our Variety Show (V-Show), but we didn't get as good as we originally wanted to become, so we're holding that off until next year.

Oh, some friends and I are seeing Blue Man Group tomorrow!!! This is going to be my first concert (I know, that's kinda sad... :)) and I am soo excited right now!!! :D So, tomorrow is going to be a wicked awesome day. I'll post soon again though, now that I have free time again!! w00t!

Hey guys, it's me again! :) Man, I just had my first kick since about a month and it felt great!! I was supposed to go shred with the CIC guys today and I was soo looking forward to that. But at the last minute, my parents bailed out on giving me a ride because they had to make an appointment they could not miss. :( So, I had to call Jon Nagela up and inform him that I could not make it. So, sorry guys that I couldn't make it. I'll really try to make it next weekend. I was so jealous of the people who made it to the shred session because Jon informed me that it was so nice outside that they were shredding outside. After about 5 minutes, I decided to stop being lazy and go downstairs to shred some and man, am I glad that I did!!

I went down to shred and just started warming up with some toe stalls, inside stalls, etc. and when I got to clippers and butterflies, I was so surprised that my flipside clippers and butterflies actually improved over the time I hadn't shredded. Also, my bad ankle feels better after that month+ break from footbag. :) So, I thought of just hitting some combos and had a couple of good ones. I almost had pixie ss clipper > ripwalk both sides! I thought my flipside pixie sets were horrible, but I guess they're not that bad anymore!!! Then, I started messing around with some ripwalks and sidewalks, and noticed my stepping set on my flipside also improved somewhat!! This was turning out to be a great day! :P After a little bit of just playing with old moves (I busted out drifter on my strongside first try and footyed it a couple of times on my flipside!), I started screwing around with atomic sets. I always thought atomic sets were pretty cool so I was hoping that I would hit some kind of move out of it. After footying tap about 15 times, I finally nailed it. It was so perfect and the bag came straight back up after I landed the move, but instead of hitting something out of it, I caught the bag in my hand! D'oh!! Oh well, then I tried some fairy sets and I actually had somewhat of a set to pull off a fairy ss osis second try and footy it on my flipside.

So, after all that shredding, I decided to try atomic sets on my flipside. I hit the set about 3 times of all the times I tried it, so I need to work on that a lot more. Then, I just went home and here I am, typing this up right now (whoaaa...)! Hopefully, I should be able to shred some more this week, as it's not going to be as busy as usual. Later!

Alright, I'm long overdue for another blog entry. So, here it goes...About 2 weeks ago ( yea, I should have posted this earlier, but I haven't had much time to post anything) our show choir had a competition ( I play trumpet in the combo, I can't dance or sing very well ) and something interesting happened that day. Well, first of all, we made it into finals for the Open division (this is the top division) and after we performed in finals, we thought we did okay but not good enough to win first place. So, we went up to our room and changed and then, these two kids who go the high school we were performing at came by with a video camera to just talk with some of our show choir kids and make a collage video of all the schools that were there (or something like that). In the back, I busted out my footbag and tried to hit PS Whirl (I haven't hit it in a loooooong time, but an attempt at it still looks pretty impressive).

The guys who were filming saw me do that and asked me to shred a little for the video and they got me on film for about 5 minutes!!! One of the camera guys (there were two) hacky sacks and could do stuff like toe stalls, outside stalls, and a flying clipper or two, so just for fun, we decided to challenge each other to a duel of footbag. Everyone from my show choir surronded us and were chanting my name and getting excited whenever I hit anything impressive looking, so I was feeling pretty good. Some of the moves that I hit were diving butterfly (which impressed everyone there), a couple of dbl atws, some double over downs, and sidewalks and ripwalks. It was really fun because everyone was cheering and everything. The people filming got really interested in the tricks I was doing so I happily directed them towards footbag.org and modified.ca. :D I don't know whether they ever checked the sites out, but they looked pretty interested in learning some freestyle moves.

Btw, my show choir won!!! We were all so surprised but it felt great and we got like a 4 ft trophy!!!

Also, last Saturday, I went and shredded with the Chicago Inner Circle guys at the Spring Break Jam. There were only about 9 of us there but it was really fun. The people that were there were Tom, Zeke, Tim Werner, Kamil, Eric Seigel, Will Rockey, Shawn, Jon Nagela, and me. I tried to get my friends Kyle, Dane, and Adam to go with me, but they were already busy that day. I was really tired that day because I just had a gymnastics meet, but I was really excited to footbag again because I hadn't kicked all week. So, when I got there, Jon, Eric, Kamil, Will, and Tom were already there, so I just said hi to them and started stretching out a little and just kicking the bag around. After about 5 minutes, Zeke and Tim showed up and Tim proceeded to inform me that he was really sick. This was the second time I met Zeke (I met him at the Xmas Jam in 2003, but didn't really talk with him that much) and he is such a cool guy. He is so relaxed about everything and was joking around the entire time. He didn't shred much but he was hitting ripwalks and stuff like that.

My first circle (that I started!!!!) was with Kamil and Tom. That was mainly because the other guys were using a 32-panel bag and I'm not used to play with such small bags at all (I have one of those big, floppy Sandmasters, and I love it!). We were just messing around for a while and Tom was just warming up forever; I was done warming up in like 10 minutes and Tom was still warming up!! Oh well, he busted out some wicked combos later on though! :) Kamil hit pixie ss mirage and I got it on tape for him (I took my videocamera with me because I wanted to get some footage of the CIC guys to make a video for fun). Soon, Zeke and Tim joined us for a little bit (Tim didn't freestyle for long because he was feeling really sick). I was kind of sad that Tim couldn't play much, but I could tell that he was feeling sick because his eyes were red and he looked just plain tired. That didn't stop him from hitting spinning ducking pdx whirl though!! Then, Tim tried to help me out with some swirl sets and To tried to teach me barrages from clippers. I almost hit a barrage, but I haven't tried again all week.

After shredding for a little bit longer, I decided to start filming the guys and I got some of Tom's long, smooth combos. I didn't get much footage of Tim or Kamil, because they, along with Tom and Zeke, went to play 4-square. I did get a lot of footage of Eric and Will and some of Jon. So, maybe I'll still make a video that would just mainly show Will and Eric. After my circle left me (:( ), I decided to join the circle with Eric, Will, Jon, and Shawn. Shawn just started out footbagging (I met him at the Xmas Jam) and he is getting better. He was busting out legovers and mirages and could do about 5 clippers in a row on his strong side. Eric almost hit ripped warrior a couple of times and it looked pretty styley. Both Eric and Will have such smooth styles and they mix both easy and hard tricks together to make their combos so interesting. They were both busting out super long runs with some really sweet moves in them. I only got about 15 minutes of their footage though! I was having a really good day; I had a great gymnastics meet and narrowly missed making the top 10.

Also, Tom got me to try flipside double over downs and I hit my first one in about 3 tries!! That was so awesome!! Then, later on, I had some awesome combos that started out with double over downs and included sidewalks and ripwalks and all that good stuff. So, overall, my shred session with the CIC was pretty awesome. Also, Spring Break starts today for me!!! Whooo! I'm going to shred for a little while with some friends and play some pool or ping pong! Alright, see ya guys later!! :)

Hey guys, it's me again!! I was just shredding downstairs and almost hit paradon bs!! I can't wait to master that move so I can learn barflies!! But as I was doing some drifters, I accidentally kicked myself on my right ankle and fell and sort of twisted my ankle!! :( It doesn't really hurt, but it keeps bothering me now so I decided to come home! Hopefully, it will be better for tomorrow so I can shred again (and I've got a gymnastics meet too!!!). Also, hopefully the Todexon footage will be turned into an awesome video so I can download it and watch it all day!! :)
