What's more important - Guiltless or variety?
I'm just wondering ... What do you guys think is better shred and would be more impressive to see - someone shredding guiltlessly but throwing in less variation, or someone shredding with more variation, but having their variation be 2 adds?
Ie. Would you think it best for someone to hit:
Butterfly > Butterfly > Pdx Mirage > Smear > Butterfly > Pdx Mirage > Tap > Dimwalk > Pdx Mirage
or
Butterfly > Butterfly > Pdx Mirage > Smear > Butterfly > Legover > Tap > Dimwalk > Pickup
That's just an example, but in general, do you think guiltless is more important than variation when it comes to runs?

for me it's more like which is more important going tripless/fearless or variety?
now I would probably choose variety.
But IMO people should move on guiltless faster and if you're still adding a lot of 2 adds to your shred, it takes much more time to push your game to strong guiltless.
So when comparing guiltless and variety, I would go for guiltless first in shred. When you've reached guiltless start adding new tricks to combo and you got this: variety.

I choose variety in general but when compareing the two strings above, the guiltless one is better.
If someone is shredding on a level which most of their tricks are guiltless or better, but they throw in harder twos like bubba and original tricks like reverse hop-over then the choice of variety is obvious.

I always thought pdx symposium pickup is a 4-add !?!shreddaily wrote:I thought you were going to add [..] PS pickup to the 2 add list.
I'm very sure it gets an add for being full symp and I always thought it also gets a pdx add...

I've hit real symposium clip set far pickup landing while stalling with the dexing foot.
I always thought far pickup would get pdx because of clip > op in.
at least it does get a symp add and it deserves it (though there is some luck involved I think).
I'd like to know what he meant with PS pickup...
far symple pickup or what ?

oh no, please don't roll up that whole true symp topic again. we already decided that pickup, legover, atw etc. can be true symposium.
imagine the exact opposite like a zoid.
you simultanously land and stall the bag with one leg.
I'll post a vid of symp legover if I get a camera.
btw, mirage is by far not a full dex, a legover is a lot more full than a mirage dex, just imagine how far you go around it...

To answer the question I'd have to say that guiltless, just because I can do variety like what you suggested, but I still can't get guiltless... and as to

I always thought that too and I was so dissapointed when my first 3 add turned out to be only 2I always thought far pickup would get pdx because of clip > op in.

I think you should do both - try to learn everything - and push your game as much as you can in the directions that feel right for you.
I was only ever tiltless for about 2 months - but I could hit 6 add moves before I was tiltless
Every player is different - I don't think questions like this really have a correct answer that applies to everybody.
I still practice tiltless moves and warm up with lots of tiltless stuff and I think it helps my game.
It bugs me the way people have to complain about something like saying ps pickup. To me it is blatently obvious what that move is - I can't imagine it being anything other than a far symple pickup. If we can understand each other I think that's all we need.

In the interests of clarity though its good to say the name of the move, not something that it cant be and expect people to translate it to the move that it actually is. Otherwise you get newbies or incredibly bored people posting and starting irrelevant discussions about what the move really is...
Guiltless before variety, until you are moving into long tripless shred where it can get more repetitive (shuffle etc)
However, if the guiltless standards mean nothing to you and you just play for fun and do whatever moves you like, then variety is great.

I'm not complaining, but just like I said:Jeremy wrote:It bugs me the way people have to complain about something like saying ps pickup. 1. you can either do it symple or symposium
2. I thought it could get pdx
I don't want o blame anyone for using false expressions, I just wanted to ask if a far symposium pickup would get 3 or 4 adds
btw. I think becoming guiltless is important, but I think, at least for me, it is imposiible not to pour in some unique style while archieving that !
there's no session where I do not try some weird shit and use that later in strings and I think there is some lack of fun if you only -without exceptions- work on the basic sets like stepping, atomic, pixie or on whirls.
last session I worked on my pixie zulus
