Disappointing session today. Came back and internet was shot. AIM didn't work shortly after that. People were annoying. The fact that I lost a really nice bag just hit me. :x

I hated my last post. Too damned depressing. And I haven't been able to post anything for a really long time. Nothing's happening though. But a new bag should be coming in a few days so that'll be good. No Chilly Philly for me.

Spinning moves here I come. Spinning mirage is coming along. Footed it the last time I played which was like . . . . 4 days ago

K it's been a while for a number of reasons I will not get into. Let's just say it'll take a few days to get back to the level of play I was BEFORE the vacation I just had. Hopefully I'll just be "refreshed" for the bag again.

Q: Should I work on new moves or just skool until I'm ridiculously tiltless and can go until the sun goes down?

Strengths :
illusioning dex
left foot is double dexing 8)
in-spinning still in progress
back-spinning is pretty descent
tiltless strings are about maybe 10 or 12 contacts long if it's a good run. I have about four or five of these every 30 minutes. On average, that is.

Weaknesses :
Right clipper is getting pretty good but still is weak
Right butterfly is actually better than the clipper but the set out of it is really low and I can't seem to set it back across for an infinity.
Ducking and diving.

IMO people who school moves are good at moves and people who string are good at strings. I think the path you START on determines the type of shredder you are for a long time. Haveing variety is good, but people will always be able to hit bigger and better moves. Being able to string consistantly is something everyone can get props for, no matter what level.
I spent month 6-10 of my career on butter, pdx mirage and ducking clipper ALONE, and maybe a smear or 2. Taking that time realy paved the way for me to be able to do 20 contacts on camand, and the big moves come with time anyway.
Just my 2 cents though, the other path can be fun and rewarding too, personal preference I guess.

Definitely agree with Nate, take the time to have the fundamentals dialed completely on both sides. Really harp on getting clippers and butterflys on both sides to be consistent. Get the basic drills down so that you can repeat them several time over and over again almost everytime, basic drills like mirage > pixie (rpt), illussion > legover (rpt), and try coming up with a drill that gets clippers and/or butterflys involved. I use clipper > ss butter (rpt) and clipper > pickup > pickup > ss clipper (rpt).

For ducking/diving just trying doing toe > dive > toe > duck > toe (rpt) because you're toe sets are high enough and consistent enough, and then after you get used to that and your clipper become more consistent start working on diving clip > ducking clip rpt or even better just ducking clipper (rpt).

When i first started i always concentrated on learning new moves, and it was almost always on one side....(BAD IDEA!). After taking the time to get all my basics solid on both sides... learning new moves became much easier as did stringing them together. Take the time to get the basic moves and the best technique for you to do them, and it will all pay off in the end.

You can't do moves like butter if you can't do all the parts they're made of like butter.

Drill all the 2's like mad, that's where I am at in my game and I think it really helps.

yoyoyo! Fun dual sessions today. One: solo skool session in the gym wherein I hit pixie refraction and did some fun spinning flying tricks. All in all a fun skool session. Then? What ho? Another session with all the Rochester fools who also kick the footbag wanted to get around to kicking today! So what did I do? Grabbed a bit of food and headin' on down to the Institute for some fun times. Real nice smooth strings were hit by all and I got to kick with two new guys, paul and max. Some new stuff like trying to step out of an osis was attempted and I FINALLY hit magellan. Real clean too. AND I incorporated a parkwalk into a rather impressive string.

Yes it was a fine day for footbag and tomorrow holds even more promise! AND THE NEXT DAY! Paradon escaped me again, by the way. double over-down is nice and good and I can whirl out of it. Paradon? Yeah it'll come. I footed it twice today and I'm getting a little more comfortable with the double dex-ing-ness.

As soon as I can get up the nerve to record myself skooling I can post something on the videos portion of this paradise. And I have a bunch of things from other sessions with the RFA so BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A ROCHESTER FOOTBAG VIDEO in a little bit. Just have to send it on over to someone who we can all trust to make a good video. I don't want to embarrass us all.

PEACE OUT!!!!!!!!111111111

Just thought I'd post for some reason. I didn't legtrick yet today so I'll have to post again after the session. Just wanted to say thanks for the advice given. It was odd. That day that I got those two responses I read this thing about paths of life and activities we can take part in and it made me think of footbag and how I'm practicing. They were talking about samurai and swords and killing people and so forth but hey. The line between footbag and samurai is so thin these days. You need like double bi-focal lenses to see it. Or maybe a monicle. Yes. A monicle that was carved out of driftwood from a lake far east of the Red Sea. Mmmm driftwood. . . .   :?: :!:

Played the Hackybagballlegtwirl at Chez Steve. Started out quite well with some real impressive strings and it only got better. Hit maverick for the first time (never knew pixie ss osis had a name. .. hmm.) and was trying to duck into an osis again. Not this time. I did one at Kick Till You're Sick (not sure if I posted that before) but I can't remember whether it'd be easier for me to duck it or dive it. Ah yes and I also did a flipside guay. I like da guay.

Oh . . Check this combo out: osis > farside refraction > farside osis. Eh? Spinny spinny and it melts my heart in goodness.

The music of the day was Crystal Meth (and they had their doubts that it'd be good footbag musique) and Jurassic 5 (I can't stress how much I love playing the game to this group).

I didn't think I could shred today with a number of people while still doing all the things I needed to do tonight. But, in fact, it seems as though I timed everything perfectly. I've had my delayed dinner and now I shall "chill" until I have to go to a jazz rehersal > Logic and Inquiry homework > Grocery Shopping (late night. . the best kind) > pdx mirage > ss drifter > symp whirl . . .

question mark ?

No skool today. Something rotten there dwells in my legs from the shred the past two days. Double dexes still take a bit of work. So I just came back from a nice break-in session with my abshire I've decided to name The Dude in memory of my old OLD bean hack of the same name. Wanna hear the story of the Dude? It's a nice story.

Okay so here's the legend: After my friends and I started to buy our first hacks from this nice hippy shop that my friend's family owned (we "donated a LOT of money over the years from all the bags we bought from them. . . . like almost 20 easy). I lost my first bag on the roof of the school (The Flame. . it had a flame on it) and so once again I was on a quest to the mall to spend another $4.11 (I can't believe I still remember how much they were) on another bean hack. That was when I saw it. At the very top of the pile, as if it was there just for me. A green bag with a crazy looking frog on it in an aztec-like design. I had to have it.

As it would turn out, this "Dude" hack was the group's favorite bag to hack with and it could roll from my driveway all the way to the main road with one toss (we thought that was amazing). The most memorable thing was the personality of the Dude. We used to say he had a personality of his own (and magic powers) because I would lose him for weeks at a time and then someone in school would come up to me and hand him to me, saying, "Yeah I knew you played Hacky Sack so I figure this is yours?" and I would happily snatch it and scamper back into the shadows to breath deeply the vanilla-scent of the Dude (I sprayed it with vanilla spray so it wouldn't smell like dirt and clay. . . and spice.)

A year past by and so much hacking had been done with the Dude. I believe it was a toe stall- yes that was it. My friend andrew and I were practicing stalling one day and I didn't get the toe stall at all. The stall was the Dude's downfall, however, as I dropped it and blindly threw it behind me in anger. As I turned around slowly, I noticed that I had thrown it onto the highest of the roofs of my school. Not the usual lower levels or main roofs that the janitors could get to. This was no-hack land. In hind-sight, I believe that was the first time I had ever sworn in public because of a footbag. . . . . It wouldn't be the last.

So that's the story of the Dude. This new Dude will make a good Dude because I can already tell it'll be really amazing when it breaks in and it has the rolling and losing-capacity as the original.

I'm not shredding today also because I'm going to rest a day before I start filming for a Pat video.

back from nice solo session and it went by too quickly and I got tired too fast. I wanted to keep playing till all my goals were accomplished but I just couldn't do it. Oh well. Two and a half hours is fine by me.

k so this is what I was working on:
1) Refraction > far osis > osis > opp. butterfly
2) flip butterfly (really hard for me) > paradox mirage
3) Flying clipper > spinning dragonfly kick
4) paradox whirl
5) dimwalk
6) dimwalk > pdx mirage
7) pixie symposium mirage

of the seven of these, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 were completed. Funny thing is I was trying to do 6 before I even could HIT dimwalk. . . at least I found it funny.

As a side not of giving myself props let me add I footed paradox whirl and pixie symposium mirage (does anyone know what that's called?). Paradox whirl kicked my ass. My hand and the back of my leg still hurt from all the missfires. . . . you guys know what I'm talking about.

And oh yeah. A BIG thanks goes out to Matt Cross for the advice about not holding your breath when doing certain big tricks. I'm close to ducking pixie sets sometimes now if I don't hold in the breath. Thanks

pixie symp mirage is just backside smear. nice job on your accomplishments.. but you should really be working on bothsided strings, force yourself to just rpt drills over and over for most of your session, then at the end... try stuff if you feel you need to.

I've got an idea. I'll follow some advice and not post as much as I do. How bout I just update my blog like every 5 days. Eh? That way it looks more impressive.

K but anyway I played outside today because it was 65. I FINALLY hit paradon and check out this string: osis > butterfly > whirl > pdx mirage. . . It made me feel like a real shredder. A dark shredder.

k so a quick update and then some real cool news for all who read my blog and are for some reason interested in my progress.

I've been having some pretty fun sessions involving the RFA people. In them, I've been really working on double dexes (along with just skooling the basics, of course. . tee hee omg lol!). Paradon is mine and Steve is right. Once you hit paradon, it gets easy really fast. I also footed barrage from a clipper.

I'm getting pretty descent with infinities too. I think my record was increased to about four alternating infinities which is pretty cool since before it was two. Four CONTROLLED infinities, too. I mean I"m sure I could do more of them if they were kind of sloppy and involving me flying around and making cool ninja sounds (which I tend to do when doing butterflies).

AAAAAAAALlright so now the news. I'm going to post a video in the next day or so. Sweeeeet. So now I won't really be the darkshredder. I'll be more like the semi-translucent shredder. . Or perhaps the opaque shredder. We'll see.

yo pat, whoever told you not to post so much, I disagree with them. Your posts are always footbag related or regarding your thoughts on footbag. Why would you want to post less if you've got something to say about that stuff?

Just taking some advice that NuR gave to Jericho. . It made sense. I won't post a lot because I'd prefer posting actual achievements and major goals and events in my footbag career rather than just "Oh hey! I had this really cool dream about footbag the other night" (which I did, by the way. . . I don't know how you can mix Ghost Recon 1 and footbag but my subconscious can. . and it did  )

by the way. I'm online and watching my roommate play a computer game and what am I waiting for? ? ? ? MY CAMERA TO CHARGE SO I CAN FILM!!!! WOOOOOOO. . . I hope I break my camera badness curse. Steve seems to have done it. Oh and I guess I also hope I capture the ESSENSE of my game (ie : guays, illusions, really funny looking toe drifters). Stay tuned, fools

OH WAIT! DON'T GO! One more thing. Give me some feedback on what you guys think I should put on it in terms of music. I have a few ideas but I really kind of want to use ska (Me lika da ska). Does anyone like ska? I like to keep everyone happy. I know crazydwarf likes ska judging from his blog. Footbaggers seem to be the kind of people who would listen to ska a lot. Eh? Yeah I was thinking of using this song called Ma Nah Ma Nah from the Muppet Show. It's a funny song and would work well with a tiltless shredder like myself. Thoughts on music? Red team go!

For the music you just gotta go with what feels right.
If some song super inspires you or drives you or gives you fancy crazy ideas for ways to make the movie fun then run with it.

Have fun!

movie done. music timing actually worked reasonably well for some reason. Not too many huge tricks but that's why it's only part 1. Need to wait for IFPA to get back to me about my membership so they can host it. It's only about 9.56 mb and it's real nice quality.

Do they care if the music has explicit content? If so there are alternatives I could choose, I'm sure. Buuut. . it'd still take a little something away from the essence.

Some more news!
1) I may start stitching with some nazareth people I may have gotten to be interested in the game I love.
2) I messed up my knee today trying to bsos smear. Ungood. Can't kneel down and it's hard to get onto my bed. oh my.
3) Ducked from an osis.
4) Got my flip clippers to 9 and my infinities to 5.
5) I've decided as soon as I've gotten bothsided with pixies (which will happen all of a sudden and I'm hoping pretty soon) I'm heading back to stepping. No ducking till I can hit ripwalk, blur, and blizzard on at least one side.

As a side note, I had the most vivid daydream today about hitting pixie paradon. I don't know why. I can't do it. Won't be able to do it for a long time. Don't know what I was thinking. Visions of grandure I suppose.

Day 1 of my three week No Shred All Drill program. Not going to GLASS so I've decided to just get good at footbag. Today sucked but hey, it'll happen. This is what I'm GOING to hit by the end of this period.

1) 10 flip clippers (this is pathetic but it's sooo hard. . need to get it done)
2) 10 infinities . . or more. I'm up to about 4 on average.
3) Symposium legover both sides and perhaps bsos
4) Eggbeater both sides and most likely bsos it same session as soon as I get good at symposium legovers.
5) Flipside whirl
6) Double dex with the other leg (steve says hit flip paradon. I can't help but at least try. . )
7) Butterfly swirl
Okay now if you guys thought that THESE are out of reach, get ready. .. because as soon as I can hit a flip pixie well enough:

1) flip smear
2) flip smudge
3) flip dimwalk
4) flip parkwalk
5) pixie paradon (pff. . I just like the sound of that)
6) pixie whirl

hell yeah. Soo I've got some stuff to do. The way I figure it I just need to do three or four drills CONSTANTLY and do them really well and then a lot of these will just come. Like all of the flipside pixie stuff. A lot of those will probably be hit in the same crazy long session.

I'll be drilling till my knees bleed through the pores. Then Part II will come of my Darkshred. It'll more than likely kick the ass of the first. I could kick the first's ass right now. . but I won't because my legs still hurt from today's drills.
