LimeWire

Post by ashleyd »

hey everyone,
my brother just downloaded this downloading program for music and crap called LimeWire. I was wondering if any of you have heard of it or have it. Give me your opinions about it, or if you have a better recamendation, OR if i should just delete the whole thing together. thanks.

btw, maybe this should be in art and leisure....oops

I use it regularly but I wouldnt recommend it if you're sharing a computer or dont have suffecient protection for your computer. Just make sure you know what you're doing when you download random files. The download speeds are generally better than Kazaa and you don't get any of those annoying music files with static halfway though the song (god that's the worst).

Downloading music is the devil  but if you going to do it use WinMx

limewire is good if you have a macintosh, because there aren't many clients out there, but if you're going to download movies, I'd suggest a bittorrent client. if its mainly for music, something that runs on the eDonkey protocol might work better, since it is used by many more people than limewire, and so will have more files.

on the other hand, one of my very favourites is soulseek (http://www.slsknet.org/).

just my two cents.

word, lime wire is the bomb if you have a mac (which i do). it automatically imports all songs into your itunes library, does volume adjustments, etc, etc. very easy to use. very user friendly. i never download anything other than music though, so i don't know about any movie/ softwear stuff.

aquisition is the only way to go on a mac.

I think the programming on limewire was second rate, but it works ok once it gets up and running.

It saddens me to have seen bit torrent go from the geek way to get our hands on linux iso's and other legal downloads to a pirate tool of the unwashed masses for downloading movies and music.

Emule and Shareaza are good

Shareaza is EXTREMELY fast. On my 5 year old computer running on windows 98 with 600 mhz processor and wireless internet, stuff downloads at 350 kilobytes a second!

Emule is based in germany, soyou cant get in trouble for downloading off of it with the RIAA

hey guys

i have limeWire it's great. when it comes to downloading music it's a lot better than kazaa you don't get any 16 min songs with nothing on them which is great. the bad thing is that it has spyware so you might want to get spybot or something like that.

ARES is also a good program... i dont use anything else now, no annoying screwed up songs, i havent experienced any spywear and stuff as yet. I dont have cable so i cant use Bittorrent well or anything, but Ares gets the job done, there seems to be alot of files on there too.
