Montreal Footblog
Good 2 man session yesterday with Marc. Nothing super special, I hit some drills, he was working on some stuff, etc. Next seshhhhhhh is tommmmorow I think. I really want to bust hard-core tommorow, some goals:
Whirlwind > blur
Spinning Pdx Blender > Spinning Osis
Mobius > Void
And LONG strings, im sick of 10-15.
In other news, Mos Def is really good.

I`m so getting flamed for this post... but I wanted to get this off my chest. Let me preface this by saying that y`all are cool to hang with in person, so don`t take this personally.
I like the footblog section because most footblogs have a lot of personality. You get to hear not just what people are hitting, but how they feel about it, how they approach it, etc. Often, you get a lot of insight into player motivation, player strategies, and you get a sense of the frustrations and triumphs players have. Each footblog has its own personality. That said, I`m going to stop reading this footblog, because I find it such a cock-tease.
This `blog` is at 11 pages now, and 90% of is uninteresting, pointless conversation that could have been done on MSN. If this blog is just about meeting times, make a Montreal thread in Journies to Tournies. Whenever I see this `blog` has new posts, I check it out hoping to hear about what the Montreal crew is hitting, and I`m tired of being disappointed by reading idiotic posts all the time. I get no insight into what you guys are hitting, or how you feel about it.
When you guys get excited about cracking 3000 views or whatever, I hope you realize that most of those views are people coming here hoping to read about footbag, and instead being disappointed with mindless drivel.
I know some of you will tell me that if I don`t want to deal with it, I shouldn`t bother reading it, and you are right. So I won`t. I also don`t like being negative, but after being let down by this blog for so long, I felt like getting it off my chest.
Again, nothing personal.
Alright, flame away.

This was the last worthwhile post in this blog, and it was 3 pages back.Laroche wrote:

I think you are taking it too seriously Ken. So some Montrealers use the blog to coordinate our shreds, and talk about things.. so what? I have a blast re-reading our serious stuff and the off topic stuff as well.
I find most blogs WAY too serious and boring so don't bother reading them anymore. In fact, most blogs have NO personality to them whatsoever. There are perhaps 5-6 blogs that I check out every now and then, and it's just because they are my friends.
The Montreal blog is fresh and different, which is why people read it, I assume. When I try to write in here, I like to mix things up and not just put down basic lists or goals or say the usual blabber, but also include some of my own personal stuff, like music, to put my thoughts down. Its almost like a diary.
90% of it is uninteresting? Thats pretty high. So 10 or so pages are completely worthless and pointless drivel? Obviously it was just a number threw down to illustrate a point, but still, I find that ALOT of the stuff is actually pretty relavent. Someone might talk about organizing a session, and then mention that they are excited about it, why, etc.
Page 10 has the least 'fun' to read stuff, but the rest is pretty good. Also I made quite an indepth post about my game on that page, and I always mention other people and write my ideas down.
In fact, your post is written directly after I describe a session, and my goals for the next session, which is what you were saying there was almost nothing of in the blog.
Also, I think this blog has PLENTY of character and personality. By reading it is easy to tell the Montreal crew is pretty laidback, and joke alot. Each of us has alot of personality in our posts, I find. I just re-read the whole thing, and at the end, even if I hadn't met anyone, its easy to tell that James is the least serious one amongst us and gets really frustrated with his game, Mathieu is an up-and-commer trying to cram as much practice as he can before he leaves for Gabon, etc.
Anyway, that's all I gotta say about that. You are going to think me egoistical or whatever, but Im just going to keep writing the way I do, becuase I disagree with what you wrote, and its how I write.

I read this blog all the time because it is quirky and funny and you guys are all so wierd. I love your sense of humor and the way you convey it.
Sure there is lots of silly nonsensery but that is just them being them in their space.
I also think that it is hard to convey how the humor is supposed to come across if you cannot hear it in person.
I'll keep reading, don't worry!

ken, if you haven´t been liking what you´ve read in this blog, then why the hell do you keep reading it, why would you waste your time writing a post like that, do you honestly think thats going to change what we say.... personally i hate basically all the blogs...so i stopped reading most of them, i don´t waste my time writing in each and everyone what i don´t like about them.

Ken is obviously just scared that our blog is going to beat his in views and become more popular, cause he has a bit over 6000 now, and were climbing rapidly to 4000. He wants others to stop checking our blog out, so his can rule as most popular. But the montreal crew wont let him get away with this!!!

Dudes, chill out
I hesitated making my last post, cause I was afraid some of y`all would take it too seriously.
Chill out. If you like your blog, that`s all that matters. The opinion of one reader shouldn`t matter that much to you. I`m not criticizing any of you as people, I`m not criticizing any of your freestyle games. This topic isn`t even something I care much about; I made my last post in the time it took me to type it. I`m only posting again, cause I wanted to make sure none of you took this personally.
I also agree with Laroche, that blogs that just list what people hit can be rather boring. I think there is a balance to be had between style and substance. Some blogs only list what people hit, and are kinda boring because its all meat and no sauce. This blog errs on the opposite side in my opinion (opinion! Don`t hurt me!), in that it`s just randomness, with hardly any mention of footbag.
People read/like footblogs for different reasons. I like reading footblogs where people talk about what they hit, and how they felt about it. I think its cool that lots of people enjoy this footblogs flavor. Personally, I find the lack of footbag content a bit of a tease. I click on it hoping to hear about what you guys are hitting, and instead read `I like cake.` Like I said in my last post, `if you don`t like it, don`t read it,` is good advice, and so I`m going to take it.
Oh yeah, and if I feared the rising view count of this blog, do you really think it would make any sense for me to make a controversial post in this blog?
Anyway, I hope this post clarified my last one (ie, why I`m no longer going to read it). Just wanted to reiterate that Montreal footbag is cool, y`all are cool, and nobody should get too worked up that I`m not a fan of this blog`s style. Tastes differ. I look forward to shredding and hanging out with you in the future, at which point I will make a completely random post about it in my own blog, in your honor.
Nothing but love, Ken.
I thought I explained that in my last post? Very occasionally, somebody will make a post in here about what they hit, or how they feel about footbag. I really like those posts. I want to read more posts like that, I want to hear what Montreal is hitting, and how stoked y`all are on footbag. So the reason I`ve kept reading this blog from the start, was cause I kept hoping to read something interesting. The reason I no longer will read this blog, is because 88.2% of the time I clicked on this blog, I didn`t read anything that interested me.cclaudia wrote:ken, if you haven´t been liking what you´ve read in this blog, then why the hell do you keep reading it, .

The bigmac I just ate completely removed any desire to freestyle tonight. Damn I was SO hyped too..
I think the next shred is thursday
I won`t have played in quite a bit then, over a week. Im SICK of winter, I really felt like training hard-core this year, and im getting fucked over time and time again.
Next year will be different; I`ll have a brand-spankin` new job doing something retarded for more money then I make now, and I`ll be able to afford a YMCA pas or some bullshit which will let me freestyle on my own.

I dont have any right now, but I am going to go get Black on Both Sides tommorow, it sounds really good, the beats and amazing, and the emcee has such a good flow, I like the sound of his voice.
Hip-hop is a new world for me, I come from Rock, a land far far away.
AARRGHHH Need TO FREESTYLE!!!!!!! Im sick of air-shredding. Actually, I think air-shredding has improved my form. It sounds funny, but I really mental-out my moves and map my movements to my thoughts on good movements pretty well. I spend alot of time trying to keep my knees and a height just THIS high, etc.
Theories theores theories. Also party thursday, YEEHAW I can finally afford a beer or two!!!! Thanks granny
Been searching for a job HARD-CORE for the last little bit, can't wait to get some shit job at 12$/hour full-time.. Ill work hard, and save up for some Gadgets:
- New Computer, which I need for making music
- Mp3 player, like an IRiver or some such 20g style thing.
- Mixer with 8 channels and midi in/out. To go with....
- Acoustic Guitar
- Bass (I'd LOVE a fretless)
- Kick ass Shur mic
- and uhhhh eventually a good hardware compressor.
Dats it. It all totals out to ALOT, but these are goals within the next year. The rest of my funds will go to footbag, and little tourneys around here.
Also I'm going to help Kolo run the Montreal Challenge this year, since Yax stepped off the podium. Anyone got any preferred times? I was thinknig May-ish, the weather will be nice by then, though it will be windy
Would anyone even show up? I have small amounts of crash space, but other montrealers would probably provide as well.
Well thats it for now. I notice that im the only active member who actually writes stuff other then Mathieu. Its because everyone else is LAZY but I'm getting used to the idea of writing my thoughts down, so this is my place to do it.
