Does footbag train physically?
Does footbag train physically?
I have many people saying it absolutely doesn't train at all. Someone said you have to shred 24 H and then you feel something. Is that true? Footbag is certainly training me.

Footbag seems to me to be good for your cardiac endurance, muscle tone and strength, flexibility and reflexes. It doesnt really help much with muscle bulk, or much of your upper body strength.
i have noticed that my thighs and calves have become more defined from footbag.

The people who say that should try and do symp barrage > dolomite > rpt for 24 hours and see how long they last. (As if they know what those words mean)
The simple answer is that they don't know what freestyle footbag is, and their judgement is based on circle kicking, which is indeed pretty relaxed as far as physical activities go. Freestyle footbag in it's modern form is an excelent cardio workout, creates ridiculas explosive power in the lower body, and promotes the developement of a solid trunk (middle body - abs, lower back, obliques, ect).

when i first started playing footbag i lost about 25 pounds and i have kept it off. i would also like to point out i wasnt' a chubbs, i was a high level fencer and competed internationally and considered my self to be in fantastic shape. footbag also really helps with heart rate recovery. you go from full out sprinting with the bag, to stopped. you have about 1 minute to rest befor you do it again. and again. and again. great for heart rate recovery times.

There's no doubt that jumping rope is good for you, correct? In what ways is footbag different from, if not better than, jumping rope? You're pretty much doing the same thing, and more. That 24H shred time comment was probably an exaggerated attempt at sounding knowledgeable. Solo shredding for as little as 1.5 - 2 hours will leave you with tired, worked-out legs.
Peace.

think again.
footbag has made my legs become extremely defined. and my calves have enlarged, i think from symposium. since i started learning on only one side for a year, i have an extra calf muscle on my left leg that doesn't exist on my right leg yet and i've only seen that extra muscle in footbag players. it's like a second calf, it's weird. i have better endurance now than my friends who exercise regularly, but i also kick more by myself than with other people and put in two hours solo with no breaks, I can definitely feel it after only twenty minutes so it definitely is a great cardiovascular work out and it somewhat bulks up your leg muscle, but is not for upper body with exceptions to abs and lower back. it has also kept me at a constant weight for quite awhile. i actually weigh five pounds lighter than five years ago and due to constant fotbag and healthy eating, lost about twenty pounds that i've gained since before i started kicking a little over two years ago.

Footbag definetively trains, so bad, you told you that it doesnt, cuz ive lost weight since i started, and my back muscles, and my LEG MUSCLES!
It seems like i have an extra layer of muscle, maybe they are just more defined, but i have really noticed a difference.
