My girlfriend loves me!
We decided not to get each other gifts this year because we were so stressed out from shopping together for our families and friends. But we had already got each other a thing each. We had the BEST Christmas at my house last night (SOOO much fun!!!) and then we woke up and opened presents at Marita's. I left my present to open last. She ordered footbag tshirts from Peter Irish for me!!!!!! I think this is the cutest, most thoughtful present I've ever got for Christmas before. I will take pictures later. One is a Hacky Sack tshirt that only Peter Irish and Ryan Mulroney ever recieved. One is a really old school muscle shirt that says something like, "Can you keep it up?" and the other is a tshirt from CSS that Marita said he just threw in.

It kind of made me feel pretty sucky when he wrote in the note to her that he hopes to meet both of us in person some day, "we've never met", because we met at CSS :(

Oh yeah, and I know the link is not working. I have to edit something out and repost the clip some time. It really is cool, though! Try it when it is frostbitingly cold out!

So the snow here is pretty messed up!
We had this massive blizzard on Thursday night and the sidewalks and residential streets still aren't plowed. Sidewalks are up to my waist, the ridge from plowing is up to my chin. You have to walk on the road, cars get stuck and were literally packed into the snow overnight. It's impossible to even walk on the road some places because it is only one lane wide. It's so neat. I kept thinking how awesome it would be for Andrew to hit avalanche while it was snowing (you still can!!!!) -- I always wanted to hit blizzard in a blizzard, but blizzard is pretty weak. Alpine blizzard in a blizzard...not in the Alps?
I'm eating canned pears.
I haven't really played footbag for about a month. I had a session last weekend with Andrew and Derek at my house, which was really fun, but was cut short because Marita came to pick me up for Christmas visiting. I filmed for a few minutes and uploaded some MOTW clips. I relaly want to film more. I got my DVD authoring crap all set up so I'm about to work on the DVD, finally, as I'm home again now.

Damn man! Canned pears are the shit!

And maybe if i'm lucky i can hit ocean by the ocean if march break works out.
It would be ill to hit blizzard in a blizzard......except for the fact you are in a blizzard. In toronto on new years eve, it was like 10 degrees (celcius) (something like 50F ???). I got to shred outside in canada on the last day of 2004!

Yes!

The two player at the same time thing was so much more fun when you didn't try to get 5 coins, instead you tried to stay alive and try to goad the other person into accidently running into something on the screen.

Fun times. It can get pretty congested and challenging though.

I also used to play where you work together with the other person and try to last as long as possible. It was always interesting to see how long you could last.

I finally played! Woo! That felt sooooo good! I talked to Andrew and we may have a really nice place to play, regularly, soon. Oh I filmed a short clip outside in the snow before it got dark out. I only did a short little run before my dad called me in for something -- I may film again another day. Maybe Friday, as I have the day off.
Anyway -- today I learned fairy both sided within, like, 5 minutes!! The way I have to concentrate about it is that I set the bag straight and let it leave my toe and then do a quick same-side atomic-like dex (kind of like if you were to do wiggling, or whatever -- that's what it feels like). It's really smooth and I got my flip set up to my chest. I also really hurt my flip knee doing so much fairy...sucky. I've never had knee pain before.
After quite a bit of trying I hit fairy butterfly beesauce and flip fear in the same run. I hit fairy same mirage both sides, fear > paradon (only one side, because my dad needed the livingroom before I could hit it on the other side). I think fairy butterfly > blur [repeat] will be soon :D It felt so nice to hit something new and SO NEW for once. It didn't hurt my hip, either. It's weird because I am doing fairy sets so differently from how I used to (before I forgot how), because they used to hurt my hip (now just knees...)
Anyway, video in a bit, after i clean my room.

Oh yeah, I also had symple reverse swirl roll off and I schooled flip reverse swirl so I can hit them both together -- I used to think downtime swirls impossible!

EDIT: http://www.hackrifice.com/shred/temp/ch ... -fairy.wmv
I look chubbier than normal in this video, probably because I stopped exercising the entire Christmas holidays. I even stopped doing my stretches completely. I really like how clean my flip fairy is...it's probably my good fairy, but we'll see tomorrow. It would be cool to have a good pixie on one side and a good fairy on the other :D

haha right on erik! i guess i'm not the only fairy guy in the crew any more... wait, that didn't come out right... :? any way it's cool that you are also experimenting with fairy sets! i was stoked when you said you hit fair butter both sides(well let's be realistic here, i was super super bummed befor we talked because all the shred spots i had lined up fell through, so i was only mildly happy after that. had it been a good day i probably would have been much more stoked. anyway) i guess we won't be able to shred untill the weekend again, since the rest of the week i'm working 1-9, but i am excited to see you busting fairies!

I've been dead sore since I played on Monday -- doubleyew-tee-eff?? I had a dead seas mineral mud bath thingy last night -- it's supposed to be really really relaxing and fix sore muscles. I love using it, but I don't think it's ever actually relieved me of pain. I went to bed at 9 tonight, because I am just so exhausted from nothing. I haven't started stretching again, either, because I am too tired to. I hope I feel better tomorrow. I was hoping to play every day...I guess learning fairy so fast in my first session after a while was no good. On that note, though, I am sitting here at 2 in the morning (almost sweating it's so hot in my room -- I had my heater off all winter, thus far, and just turned it on the other day....sweltering!!) and I am very excited to hit flog both sides soon. I'm not sure how that will work with the combination of my injury, soreness and the fairy set I've only used once so far...I hope I haven;t lost it by next session (tomorrow? Pleeeease?)
I read some blogs just now, David's and Tom's. They were super fun to read.
I'm pretty excited about school tomorrow. I love my english class and drawing should be fun if we do some studies -- I love drawing studies in class. I miss drawing for fun. The messed up thing is that my least favourite and most stressful class is painting...my major. I hate it. It's probably my professor -- he's kind of a jerk. I dread painting class and always try to skip whenever possible (like today, my first day back...well, I went for a while and then waited in line for a buspass at Ucentre (which stretched from one end of the entire building to the other for the whole, entire day!!!!!! My brothers waited for an hour to get their buspasses. I was lucky enough to make it in half an hour!))
I'm pretty tired and bored. I am all stoked about Harry Potter. I finally have found time to start reading it again (I have been reading book #4 for ages because I just keep getting interupted with school and jazz -- I'm finally flying through it again.) I bought all three movies for Christmas for my family (can you say CRAPPY special features??) and I am excited to read the 5th book (which I probably won't be able to for a while due to my english class reading list -- I picked up one of my books the other day for that). I am also very excited about the fourth movie!!!! And the sixth book comes out, like, in July or something! I can't wait to lineup with Marita and Lauren for the release (now that I actually like Harry Potter :p)!! Lauren let it slip, during the holidays, that Percy goes bad in the 5th book????
I REALLY want to see myself do more fairy moves. I can't wait for flog!! (I bet it will hurt...)

Oh yeah, the snow is also crazy. I was walking home from the bus today (SO BLOODY COLD!!!!!!! I think I got frostbite within, like, a minute at school today because I took off my gloves for a bit) and in some places the snow is above my head. Every single time I walk outside I just really want to record what I am seeing. My camera would probably break from the sheer temperature, though. YIKES!

I miss my girlfriend. Why does she have to go to school in Toronto? :(

yeah, okay i was putting my car insurance sticker on my plate today and it froze in about 30 seconds and shattered when i stuck it on my plate! shattered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for fuck's sakes! it's a sticker! stickers don't shatter, that's what pottery does when you drop it! not when you put a sticker down!!!!!!!! any way, it was -47 celcius today, which might explain why. my hands froze putting away the order at work on monday and i got frost bite on my nuckles. why oh why did the red river settlers have to settle on the red river? my not the mississippi? where it's warmer? erik i assume flog is fairy dlo?

Hey it says I'm a newbie!
Yeah, flog is fairy dlo. It's move names like this that I like. Fear and cower are RAD, smear and assassin make no sense and are in no way related @_______@ Smoke and fume are cool. I think Derek named alpine smoke "pot". I'm not sure if he was first to hit it, but it was a couple years ago.

I just got back from a REALLY rad session.
I played way too hard (Maybe it was the music? But probably Derek hand-filming) and hit lots of cool things I was happy with. Fog beesauce, ripped warrior > fog rolled off, blurry whirl > fog, dimwalk > fog [repeat] rolled off. Actually, that's about it, I think. I was really happy though and was playing well. I also had a run that was, like, 36 contacts and not 90% bails :p Derek filmed most of the session and Andrew said he would try to make a video with it.

Andrew had a SICK shuffle run with tons and tons of everything and rubberman near the end. He also hit, like, blurry whirl > blurry whirl > pdx torque > pdx blender > ps whirl [rolled off], and toe blurrier, and lots of other stuff. Oh yeah -- he also hit blurry torque beesauce (the last one flew off somewhere, but I say he hit it.)

Derek busted his ankle and filmed for most of the session but then he hit infinity swirl beesauce, riptide, pdx torque > pdx blender both sides (they both kept doing this combo over and over again). and lots of other stuff....ducking symp swirl, I think. infinity swirl back to back rolled off..

Good times!

EDIT: Oh yeah! I also hit pdx blender! I only tried flip a few times, because I can't really use my flip whirl, but that was actually my good side blender, I think, so I just hope I bloody heal soon :p Oh yeah, and Andrew hit fairy butterfly > blur [repeat] and I was, like, "Wow -- I want to hit that!" and I hit fairy butterfly > blur > fairy butterfly. Fairy is really hard for me. I need to school it, but it kind of hurts and is akward. Andrew showed me how to do it but he made it look WAY too easy and I couldn't understand.

Oh yeah and Andrew almost hit tofu, toe haze and boulderbeater. And Derek tried toe haze a few times out of nowhere! (I'd seen Derek quantum, like once or twice ever before this).

So I may stop playing altogether for a while to see how that goes. I feel really crappy about this bloody injury. I had a short warm-up session today and I felt really fragile like if I tried anything it would be really bad for me. I may consider accupuncture after a while. My athletic therapy is basically finished, the therapist basically gave up and said he can't think of anything else that would help. I am going to work harder on my exercises and hope that something comes from it. CRAP -- I was also going to schedule a doctor's appointment today. I should do that on Monday -- my body is so messed up. I have never been able to breathe out of both nostrils at once, since I was 6. It's REALLY hard to breathe a lot of the time. They told me I would need surgery later on in life. I also have really bad back problems.

I miss drawing. Any time I go to illustration websites I get all super inspired and sooo excited to draw. I simply don't have time to do EXTRA drawing will my classes, though. I am going to do my stretches now and then hopefully work a bit on an essay due next week.

I'm almost done Harry Potter 4. It's soooo good!! It's definately my favourite so far. I already borrowed #5 from Marita's sister, but I don't think I will be able to read it for a while, due to my english readings. I saw behind the scenes stuff from the 4th movie -- good stuff. Man -- so much happens in this book!! The World Cup and then the TriWizard Tournament! And then... "Mad-Eye Moody" is so awesome.

When I first found out about the series I read them all, that was back in first year. I waited so long for the 5th to come out and now that it has I am waiting years to start it, I don't want to read it all in one go and be potterless again for years.

I hate the news about your injury, it's so sad because you are so beautiful when you play.

The Harry Potter books are so sweet! I love them! Personally, I like book 4 the best. But I love the whole time travel thing in book 3! That was awesome! I am always fascinated by time travel for some reason....

Keep playing! It be sad if you stop!

I think I have decided to completely, 100%, stop playing footbag until I am healed. I think it MUST be hindering my recovery. I am going to stretch as much as possible and I want to start yoga, because the reason I got injured in the first place is TOTALLY because I am so inflexible that trying huge moves with huge impact on an inflexible muscle is....very very bad. I will become flexible and then I will never get injured again!!!!!!!!
Any tips would be rad.
(See my yoga thread in the kicking cirlce too!)

Hey Ken, my Christmas tree is still up!

PS: new MOTWs at Hackrifice.
PPS: I realized I still have a couple tapes from Hackrifice Open 2004 that I never did anything with, so I may have a video of that soon.

My computer is broken and I need a new video card, for like $200 :(

I haven't even touched a footbag for, like, a month. My athletic therapist gave up on me and I went to the Pan Am Sports Clinic for x-rays. The doctor was awesome and it was, like, he knew what was wrong with me INSTANTLY! That bloody therapist didn't know what the hell was going on even to the end. So he sent me off to teh x-ray area and I got x-rayed on the outside and inside of my hip flexor and then I went back and the doctor gave me a perscription for an anti-inflamitory and suggested I get a pair of, like, speedo shorts for extra comfort because they will hug my leg tight. I'm not sure about buying the shorts, but I picked up my perscription today. I'm supposed to take the pills two times a day for about a week and a half. The pharmacist said that the pills should eleviate pain as well as aid in the healing -- I'm not really sure.

I also sent off Marita's valentines day STUFF today. I drew this super nice drawing that I'm super happy with and it's all big and it was my first real pencil crayon drawing ever -- I loved that!! SO FUN! My computer is broken, but I took some pioctures with my camcorder that I'd like to post when my computer is fixed again. I've actually been drawing a lot lately while I'm not playing footbag. Oh, I've started stretching again because the doctor said that was fine and good. Everything's okay, I think and this doctor said that I should get better with stretches and crap and if not to go back and see him, he sounds so good. I think what messed up me up before was playing footbag. Not only that, but trying to hit things like big flip stepping moves and stuff that I KNEW I shouldn't have been doing because they would specifically aggrivate my injured muscles. BLAH. So no footbag and as much stretching and weight exercises as I can fit in around school should get me better, I'm hoping. These pills too! YAY! Possibly healing!

I also made Marita a bracelet with a little pink star. I learned how to braid just so I could make her a bracelet!! I didn't know how to braid before. I'm happy and it's fun and I thought it was sweet.

Ummmm. School is pretty rad. I haven't had homework, really, since Christmas!!!! I have a test after spring break (SPRING BREAK NOW!!!!!) that I should studfy for and some paintings I should work on, but painting is fun (I just started with oils -- I had never used them before! I think I want water-based oils, though...). Oh I finished that painting that I posted about in the kicking circle. It turned out okay, but I made it really simple because of how frustrating my class is. I like it lots, though. I'll bring it home after the break and take pictures. It's the biggest painting I've done yet, I think it's 3x4 feet. It's not THAT big and I'd like to work bigger, but I just can't really carry big paintings on the bus and on my bike like that @______@ Last term I had to ride my bike to the busstop with 3 2x3 fot canvases strapped to my back!!

I did some more errands today, too. I bought a couple new oil/acrylic brushes (I don't think I will ever go back to acrylics!!! Oil is AMAZING!!!! so smooth, so NOT-DRY-IN-30-MINUTES!!! -- although I get really paranoid and scared and ultra, extra, beyond-regular-erik-anal about getting paint on myself) I bought, like, a #1 round and a #2 flat, or something...it may be a filbert, gee I dunno. I also FINALLY got a new #4 watercolour brush! That's the brush I use when I draw my own things. I like inking with india ink! I also bought a yellow mechanical pencil with metallic yellow graphite!! I plan to use regular graphite in it. I have been using the same pencil I found on the floor in grade 7 (like 10 years ago!!!!!!! >____< <----old!) to draw with. So a new pencil will be FUN! It's got it's own nice grip thingy, and it's yellow. I wanted purple, 'cause it's my favourite colour, but I realized that purple doesn't really suit me. Yellow did of the colours available. I think brown is my best colour. I was talking to Marita last night, though, and saying how much I would love a pink shirt. I think pink clothes would be RAD! Not, like, bright pink, but, like, faded white-pink. You know? I also bought another woodless graphite pencil/graphite stick -- I bought, like, 2 last term and they both cracked in half :( That is my third favourite drawing device, I think. Well...one of my top 3, maybe higher than #3!! It's FUN!!!!

K..that's about it. I am eating those candy hearts with the words on them. I took pictures for Tom Mosher of some things to send Vida

Anyway, TADA!
Those vids from GLASS were AWESOME!
Oh yeah, I also made some DVDs...the DVD doesn't really have a name. It's Hackrifice 2004, I guess. It's mainly those two black and white videos I made of Andrew and Derek, which was originally going to be a whole video with lots more. There are bonus features, including VOTDS2 and some secrets, too (that aren't really hard to find...). Umm, I thought I would have lots more to say about that, but I guess not. I'm gonna go call Marita now.
