Symposium swirling ss pickup VS. original bs blur

Post by max »

Anyone here think that these two moves are basicly the same?

Symp swirling ss pickup :

clip >> (no plant while) same swirl > op in > same toe

original bs blur :

clip >> op in > (no plant while) op in > op toe

ok so the job's looks different, but the symp mirage in the original blur is very close to a symp swirl I think, it just depends where your foot is positioned compared to your support leg:

If you do the dex whilst still in the xbd position it's a symp swirl (followed by an op in dex)
If you do the dex in a non xbd position it's an in dex FOLLOWED by an op symp mirage.

Am I making any sense here?

why do you call downtime blurs "orignial blur"s ?

yeah sorry I forgot to mention the "bs" in my original post.
Still the jobs is correct I think:

- clip set then a down time miraging op symp mirage
- clip >> op in > (no plant while) op in > op toe
- a same side voodoo, if that's any help.

'Original' or 'Original Recipe' refers to multiple dexing moves done 'down time' (ie. the dexes are done when the bag is peaking or falling, not before).
The opposite of this is 'Crispy', where the dexes are done both uptime and downtime.

So a clipper set Blur is Crispy, while a Toe Blur that is performed after the bag has peaked from the set, is Original Recipe.

yeah but you can do backside blur both ways:

crispy: clip > op in >> (no plant while) op in > op toe
original : clip >> op in > (no plant while) op in > op toe

I'm just thinking that the second one is very close to clip set ss symp swirling pickup

I don't see how they are related in any way.

somehow that move (symp swirling pickup) feels kinda like a quantum pickup from clipper. I think thats more so than a backside blur.

the order of the dexes is different.
well yes in theory... in practice it's possible to do both dexes nearly simultaneously.

Take the clipper set original bs blur:

you can do the first dex (non-symp) with your calf [hippy] WHILE AT THE SAME TIME doing the second dex leggy just underneath the calf.

Now take the symp swirling pickup:

you can do the first dex,the symp swirl, leggy WHILE AT THE SAME TIME doing a hippy dex for the pickup.

The more I think about it the more I think that two people would do those two different tricks and they'd look identical.

a bit like ken's ps eggbeater that look like a ss butterfly reverse symp swirl bailed to toe... but I don't want to confuse people even more so I'll post this in a really small font

I did know "crispy", but "original" is new to me...

@max: writing it in a small font did confuse me more than it's content could ever do

max, I've never seen ken do a butterfly symp rev swirling op toe. I was trying it at worlds after seeing ken do symp rev swirling op toe, but I didn't see ken do it with the butterfly, maybe he has since then? funny, I started writing about the same move when I put that earlier post in this thread.

I don't think they dexes happen at the same time. I think they happen in very quick succession, so they have to be done as one jump. however, they still have an order, and it's not the same from one of these moves to the next.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. Then, reading through this thread, I thought about Ken's WHAT?!?!?! as well. I agree, though with backside blurs...you *can* do them hippy. That's how Byrin does them, anyway.

It's messed up, and I don't understand how to do them hippy at all.

I was refering to your patented ps eggbeater. From memory I thought it was buttrfly symp reverse swirl bail to toe, but I was wrong.

It's a cip set ss. symposium reverse swirling op legover?

I looked for that video of you doing it, but couldn't find it, could someone post a link please?

Yeah... I agree with Max. These moves could look very similar!
I remember, that when Jorden has posted his vid with Hellraiser (I'm not sure about the name... it was Stepping Ducking Voodoo ...) For me it was Stepping Ducking Symp. Swirling Pickup...

Just to clarify... there once was a video posted online of me hitting a weird trick, which wasn`t WHAT!?! It was a variant of WHAT?!

WHAT?!? is a symposium reverse swirling ss legover. So the clipper leg does a symposium reverse swirl, then the support leg does a legover. I can hit this trick very consistently, so I`ll try to get a video online when I have a chance... which may not be for a while.

The video of the trick that was online was a similar, but different trick, which ended on toe, but not on a legover. That trick was kinda flukey, and I`m still not entirely sure what it was. 8O
