"flying"? :/
"flying"? :/
why do we say flying?
as in, flying clipper, or flying toe stall.
we're not flying. we're people. we can't fly.
we should just say jumping.
who do we think we are, really? I mean, if I was just standing around jumping up and down saying "look, I'm flying!", I would be put in a mental institution.
come on, people! get with the program!

a toe>op out>op toe is not *really* that much of an illusion is it?
Footbag lingho has its own logic. We're used to call it flying, so
why change it?

Maybe then people will look at my thread finally...LittleBoy footbag wrote:what about air?
wait...then it wll turn into something like the NBA
While I`m here though, I have an on-topic question. What is a flying toe? At worlds Scott B and Jorden were doing things like blur, then jumping with the support leg while the bag stayed on their toe, then continuing to play. Is that a flying toe? Lately I`ve been doing something that feels like an eclipse, but with my toe. I jump in the air, toe stall while I`m in the air, set it back up while I`m in the air, then land. Is that a flying toe? And if either of those are flying toes, then isn`t flying clipper a misnomer?
Very confused.

You can see Jorden do it a couple of times in the second chilly-philly
video that has just been posted (http://www.modified.ca/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=8053)
I believe Jorden invented/named them. Blame him

Good point, yes that's flying toe, and I guess one or the other are misnomers. See I think usually, unlike normal moves, when you say flying you neccessarily imply kicking even though it's sort of out of line with non-flying nomenclature. For instance I think if someone said flying outside it would imply flying outside kick as a rule, even though it is not in the same framework as normal moves (where instead a delay is implied - ie I hit clipper means clipper delay, but flying clipper means flying clipper kick).
But flying toe kick is done so seldomly (I see it done symposium style in hack circles occasionally but that's about it), so if someone said to me they hit flying toe > mirage I would actually assume it was flying delay even though that's not the normal nomenclature as I see it.
I think they have been done for quite a while, a kicker here in Wellington has been doing them for at least 3 years (and flying toe pixie for probably about the same) but I'm sure it has been done elsewhere for ages too.
This post was so footbag nerdy it hurts. The end.
