Nice session with chris today, and matt was there chillin' do to his sickness. strings were kind of shorter than normal, but managed to hit some new combos and some new moves.

new moves:
far symple reverse whirl
far symple dyno

new combos
ducking butterfly > ducking pdx mirage (rpt) - finally... been trying for about a month...
smear > toe blur (rpt) - very proud of this one, my first try ever, and it was my first flip side midstring toe blur.
finally bsos pheonix - been trying this off and on for like 4 months

todays session was pretty good. Some good strings, I hit most of Rubberman II again, but got stopped up on that second legbeater like usual. The fucking butterfly>paradox torque felt super, and I almost hit ripped warrior bsos, plus stepping diving butterfly first attempt. Aric's doing some crazy toe shit, usually I can't figure out what it is. My eyes aren't used to quantum shuffle and frantic stuff, but it's sick. And I hit it strongside blurry drifter on almost every attempt, and I'm close to alpine matador. yay

We should have another session soon, or at least make fridays at 2 or so a regular thing.

sweet combo from chris. he's coming along so well... I saw him hit a PERFECT ripped warrior, and drop on the butterfly when he tried it on his flipside. it was really cool.

I was waiting all day today for my roommate to go to class so I could play today. He finally left and I started to warm up. Tiltless strings and infinities and other normal stuff that i do. Strings were short so i though id try some new moves. Managed to hit symp. reverse whirl, like 2nd or 3rd try. And then i hit a variation of the far symp. reverse whirl i throw in like a half spin before the reverse whirl.. kind of styley. Later i hit far ducking symp. reverse whirl. Finally i hit inside set symple reverse swirl.

While hitting all this other i stuff i was trying to duck my stepping set, which was happening!! But i couldnt hit anything after it.

Finally after about 50 tries i hit ripped warrior... and then right back tried spikehammer and hit it first try.

So other than the short strings... it was a good night!

any more thoughts on a Spring Rochester event? I'm kind of excited about something since I'm not going to GLASS. It'll be a chance to get all the guys I'll be missing to come down and kick. . . heh just thought I'd just rekindle a lamp that was getting dim. . Like a dimwalk.

You like that allusion to the footbag move?

I had a cool session today and I'm liking the progress I'm making with my infinities and alternating clippers. I think this will be the turning point in having less toe bails in my strings. It'll just make me a better person as well.

I came up with this combo today and did it pretty smoothly:
clip > far refraction > far refration > infinity > pdx miraging inside stall. I think one of the times I did this I spun out of the last trick which was weird. Usually I don't have enough momentum to spin from a position in front of me.

I also hit neo ss clipper and neo butterfly (really sloppy). Has enough people hit huge tricks off of neo set so that I can't come up with names in the future? I think that'd be cool. Neo symposium paradon. Neo ducking blender. Neo backspinning pdx whirl.

there will be hardcore legball punting in Rochester this afternoon... I'm finally going to kick again, so I can warm up a little for GLASS. Paul is back in town from Lawn Guylin where he's kicked a little with Alex Strassman, so he's going to play. I'm not sure when or where we're playing, we might consider playing outside, being that it's a little milder out today. so, is anyone available for mid afternoon? after 3:30, I'm down to play. I'll edit this post as information becomes available.

For those in my car for GLASS tomorrow, we will be leaving by 4:30, but if you want to show up any time after 3:45 and we're ready, we'll leave then. I'm going to be packing my stuff up tonight, so I know i'll be ready.

Dude i need new shoes. My goons are falling apart. I just finished sewing them up for GLASS because the inside material is so flimsy that a small tear will become a gaping hole with a little use. Plus i think it has to do with my wide feet; the part next to the ball of my foot keeps busting open, on both shoes. oh well, they had a nice life.

I've been shredding like crazy this week, hit some new moves (including my first 7, although it's kinda lame and the 6-add version is better anyway). can't wait to tear it up this weekend.

Have a grand time at the Great Lakes Area Symposium Shred Legball Twistjam With SnoCones and Jumbo Shrimp For All Session. I shall be thinking of footbag as I sit in the dormroom of my ex-footbagger friend as he forces me to NOT play footbag and, instead, play Super Smash Brothers Melee (probably the next best sport in my life). Maybe I can break away and find some amazing Canadian shredders to make me all impressed and scared for my life. There's something in that Canadian air, man. It makes them all so very good at the footbag. Or the water. Or the beer, for that matter. Either way. They're all elite shredding munstros.

Shred until you see the whites of their eyes. Or until you pass out.

nah pat, its not really secret-worthy. I totally had add-hunting on my mind when I came up with it. It's just nuke dada (which feels like it shouldn't get xdex anyway), and even though I think dadas are cool, the same move minus the final dex is better.

First off, who ever didn't make it... I feel bad for you, this was the best time I've had in a long time. I had a better time at GLASS then I did at Worlds in Motreal last year.

Friday Morning: Didnt really sleep at all, I was so pumped and excited about going, and all day I was just full of energy and could sit still for more than 5 minutes. Finally I make my way over to Matt's and after some putting around and double checking everything we head out about 5 30. Arive at the U of T around 9ish. Already people are shredding... yay footbag nice 4 hour drive I was ready to go. Get over there and I see a couple familiar faces, and lots of new faces. Tom comes over and welcomes us all, followed by Camille and Andrew. Then already had my shorts on and everything, ripped off my over clothes and started warming up. While warming up with Paul (RFA) and Paul (NYC), who walks over but John Suderman, never met him before but I recognized him some how... picture i guess. But we introduce each other, and I continue to warm with a long string of easy stuff. He gets the bag and does a long, flowy, beautiful shuffle string. He has such a nice, smooth style, very impressed right away.. even though i think he was still just warming up. Then it was time to play, had a couple nice shuffle strings, and them some ducking stuff, met Dan Feary (sp..?), Derrick Ogden, Adam Czarnata, and then decided to break away from the RFA crew. I moved over to a circle with Andrew Grant, Jon Haber, Derrick, Adam, and the guy from Toronto (sorry forgot your name already... ). First touch on the bag was a very nice string, and got some props from everybody. Seen a bunch of nice stuff from Andrew, and eventually John S. joined in with his awesome shred. Eventually Yacine showed up, said hi to him. He wasnt kicking that night due to being sick, but i was really stoked to see him shred again.

Then the cops showed up, just as a bunch of more ppl showed up, they kicked us out. But we headed to the hostel and checking around 11, and headed over to the Peel Pub. Nice atmosphere good music, nice service.. great place. Some people started playing pool, and then more gathered around to watch, and then the footbag broke out, and ppl started to play. All of sudden it was very crowded and then one of the workers came up and said it was getting really crowded and noisy..... So they say, we have a nice dance floor upstairs for you to use if you want to move up there!!!!!!! I was like no shit, not only am I legally drinking, but they just told me to go play footbag on their private dance floor, with our own DJ and lots of room, this place is awesome. So we head up and have this huge circle, i think at least 10 or 12 of us.. Most of us had been drinking, some had quite a bit to drink . But we all play, and just everyone was hitting nice strings.. or new tricks.. just SOOO much positive energy, lots of props and just an awesome time. Then the worker comes up again... I'm thinking shit.. were too loud time to leave.... NO they say, hey guys we have some ppl who want to be spectors.. is it alright if they come up??? HELL YES, so we get an audience.. they sit and drink and give props to ppl and yell with us. Very amazing.. just a great time. We stay until 2 30 when they finally say were about to close, but... tomorrow night we want you to come back and do this again, we'll have a spot cleared for you . The owner who was a lil sketchy about at first was totally into it, and very nice! Just a awesome night.

I'll have to pick up on this later, because thats way too much typing, and i have a lot more to talk about. This will have to be finished tomorrow.

awesome! That sounds like a ton of good times. Man I wish I could've gone. And it kind of makes me wish I were better at footbag. I would've had a great time there but I always get so intimidated by people much better than me. all the more reason why I'm practicing more than ever. It'll come and when it does I'll love it.

well said, thats exactly what happened, it was so sweet, to be able to get that area to play. Seath, Matt, Jared and I came as soon as the cops came, so i was upset that there was no nmore shreding time, and then I just headed out to the bar, and i had a few to drink, and then suddenly, I hear something about about a shred session going on, and i was so happy, cuz i had all this excitement in me that was killed by the cops, but man that was a good session upstairs.

After the bar we all headed back to the hostel and a bunch of us just chilled in our room. Tom gave a lil stitching tutorial, Matt was playing some cool shit on his guitar, and everyone was just having fun. Around 4 30, some random chinese guy walks in ... He didnt speak english very well... but he went to bed we went to bed... Up at 10, hungry!!!

Saturday: Competition Day! After lots of talking and getting people gathered he head out to find some food. We head towards Ein Stein which was the breakfast place for Sunday... they're not even open till like 4..?! so we stop to the Pita Pit and eat there. As were finishing, I get a phone call, its my ex-gf/gf and her friend (Alex and Mackenzie), they had just arrived and were wondering where to meet me. Me, Tom, and Johnny started back towards the hostel so i could meet them, and Tom was getting his car to head to the shred spot. I meet up with them and start walking for the church which was just down the road. Were walking and talking and walk by this one church, but its on palmerstone street and were looking for bathurst... so we keep walking. Getting kind of cold and it wasnt supposed to be that far, so i call tom and ask again were it was. We decide it must be that church we walked by, we get a closer look and notice its not the one, but keep walking back towards the hostel on the other side of the street. We get close to the hostel when i see another church that none of us seen the first time. Sigh... College Community Church... OI we walked right by the shred spot... Oh well, we find the entrance and see lots of shredders yay!! Get inside and look around all the same faces plus Jorden Moir. Take a long time to warm up, and just take things real easy while talking and explaining things to Alex and Mackenzie. Alex had some previous interest in footbag, so that she could understand some of the things i was talking about and Mackenzie had never seen/heard anything about footbag. Eventually they leave to look around and i start joining some circles. Make my way over to Jorden, and Paul, and start shredding. Jorden always amazes me, long strings, with explosions of huge tricks. I was a little sore from the night before, but after taking a break and getting some rest I started to play much better. Before the competition I managed to hit my first new trick of the competition, and a new combo tripwalk > blur > toe blur > trip walk > blur > drop.. noooo!!!! one move away come on... damn blubberman. But then it was time to compete, first competition that i participated in since New Paltz which was only rippin run and a sick 3. I was really nervous and had no idea what i was going to do. But shred 30, i start with a darkwalk > drop... oi .. pick up start a easy string drop... no come on Aric get it together you been playing good all day. So i try the ol' reliable dimwalk > pdx mirage (rpt) i get most of that in then drop again.. my nerves are killing me. End up droping a bunch more times and hitting a few single tricks... . So Shred 30 didnt go that well... On to Sick 3 worked out a few combos in my head while waiting for my turn. First attempt droped after first trick... 2nd attempt tripwalk > blur > toe blur scooped up the bag with huge feeling of satisfaction, and big response from the crowd!! yay for me, i did something right . So now i try a harder combo that i can usually hit slap down > blur > e-walk. unfortunately i failed,.. but i was still happy with the first combo. Sick 1 .. no idea what to do until just before walking up to the floor. First try pixie arm hooping push up!! hehe yah me success. The next four attempts are dedicated to trying a frantic trick... footed it 2 times.. but just couldnt keep it on my foot... oh well.. More shred with lots of ppl and eventually it winds down to ppl playing 4 square and me and Jorden shredding alone. Manage to hit some nice stuff, and 2 new moves.. Jorden... yah hes good... he hits far too much crazy stuff to list.. but totally enjoyed shredding with him until we were both to dead to do anything. Back to the Peel Pub! Lots of drinks with alex and mackenzie, and some good food. Then upstairs for some shred, nothing to big... They kicked us back downstairs for a while so that the latin ppl could dance... Jorden hit a bunch of crazy stuff, so did andrew grant and johny suderman.

Final Day: Breakfast at a jewish cafe, good food!! Shred at U of T. My legs hurt really bad, so i took it really easy for a long time, but eventualy the Motrin started to kick in, and started to some like kicking. Best of all Alex and Mackenzie both started to play, they're both really shy about it so they played out of view of everyone else for a while. Alex managed to hit toe stall both sides, and then she I told her i could mod her shoes for her. She had a pair of converse type shoes. She was very excited and told me to do it then, so i cut the stitching for the walls, and taught her how to lace them, and instantly she was doing better. Alternating toe stalls and getting better control. Mackenzie also got toe stalls both sides in socks and some better control. I was just talking with them a minute ago they both hit clipper on both sides!!!! 2nd day playing!!! They want lavers, and just ordered another sandman (right now theyre using a Mosher bag). After they left for home i started to shred some more my legs were feeling pretty good. Played a fun game with a bunch of ppl, bails game?, and managed to hit my first blurriest... but it was the (but ill fix that up). Then it was time to go....

i've neglected footbag for a while, but after todays session im ready to jump back in the game!

pat came over and we played in my basement for a little. my string length is so poor but i hit a few new things: atomsmasher on my flipside, DATW in -> out AND out -> in on my left foot, and terrage on my flip (b2b!) . i was attempting ps whirl and barroque, but no success there.

pat is VERY close to terrage, and hes learning to torque. (he'll hit BOTH next session)

im free all weekend starting at noon on thursday. my schedule ROCKS.
let's kick it!

I can't hit it and I know I won't for a while (it's harder than I thought) so I've decided to let out a trick I thought would be really cool. . Check it:

As I tried it, the distance between the osising foot and the illusioning foot is much greater than I thought when I imagined me hitting it in Rhetoric class today.
Does it have a name? he wondered. It should. It's hard.

I also almost did an osis > ducking clipper and osis > ducking osis

My roommate is watching Fightclub and I want him to stop so we can go to dinner and I have no small bits to eat in my room because the doughnuts are really stale.

That's Pixie Flux. Yeah, it's really hard. You should probably hit flux first... and torque before that. (My bad if you've already hit those--just stating the obvious). Good luck trying to hit that; it'd be pretty awesome.
