technique: lifting bag from ground
Moderator: Muffinman
Yo!
Someting about Ken's move... In Berlin, Jacob Wagner hits a really smooth "Ken's move" leg over... or "Ken's move" pick up... Very stylish-easy, and no dammage for the bag.. Berliner players like this move I think...
Actually, you can do this too Ken right?

ya that sounds challangeing, have u ever done that befor? i think toeing it, or picking it up, or geting on the ground picking it up with your teeth then relesing it in to shred.... would be faster then what u just saidliteral_hack wrote:If you don't want to pickit up with your toe you can just squeeze it between your inside surfaces and flop over either ankle into a walk-overish position. I don't see how that could do much damage

I used to do that all the time when I was a hacky sacker, as a "trick" I was so fancy... Oh or if you have lots of energy you could just go for a grasping the bag with your heals and jumbing and leting go at the top of the jump, or swinging your knees up and throwing it into the air... probably not real good for those long sessions though...If you don't want to pickit up with your toe you can just squeeze it between your inside surfaces and flop over either ankle into a walk-overish position. i find myself using most my favorite bags in one sesh. ill use the method afformentioned, of picking em all up when theyre all on the floor.
i rarely do toe pickups (soft ones) and even then its only to the bags ive made. kinda like mean treating a bag to see if it can take it. but never on an abshire or docbag. and to no one elses bags either.

I do like 5 different variations of what Ken does... Maybe not 5 but at least 3 I can think of now.
It's cool.
If we're talking about picking up the bag with hands the most important thing is to relieve the backbone. How to do it? Just resist one hand on your knee when you're bending down.
One leg should be foward, the 2nd should stay a little bit in the back. I don't know how to describe it... Just do half squat with one leg forward, then put one hand on the front knee, and bend to pick up the bag.

I've been trying to hit two dex tricks like datw and barrage paradon you know stuff like that. I hit datw btw. But when trying these I almost always hit the bag on the second dex and send it flying like 10 or 20 feet away. The way I pick it up, I have some one watch me hit this new trick (i know that can't hit it yet) and when ever I mess it up and lands near them I get them to pick it up. That will save a lot of bending over. BTW it's mostly my kids!! ha ha.
No seriously I like the op foot roll thing, but picking it up with one toe sliding across the top of the bag is a huge no no. I sew bags and i'll say for sure I've gotten holes in the bag from 1 toe pick up. and thats just wrong dudes. I got an idea no else posted. If you sew your own, or buy them with metal filler, a strong enough magnet on a chain works. the chain can fit in a closed hand with out getting in the way, but It takes a little practise to get good quick.
