Cody Rushing

Post by Muffinman »

Does he still play?
I haven't heard ANYTHING from Texas for a while... Windsen is so sick, so were all those newer guys. Mike especially. Didn't Windsen hit, like, pixie paradon swirl? And, like, sailing eggbeater and stuff??
Anyway...does anybody know what happened to Cody? He was suuuper good and suuuper young and suuuper bothsided!

geez guys, pay attention: CODY RUSHING @________@

Wait a minute, didn't someone else say that in another thread? Has Erik topped out at 4000? Nooooo...

And yea Windsen -> Pixie Flurry as well.

Windsen = barefoot pixie flurry = doesn't count in my book. Sailing eggbeater, if Erik's correct, though...

Lame lame lame.

Is there an official rule somewhere saying that barefoot doesn't count? I'm actually curious, can you play barefoot in competition?

Whether or not this is the case, to simply dismiss the pixie flurry as "invalid" is just ignorant. It takes some serious skill to hit that, barefoot or not.

I'm no wiz on rules, but I distinctly remember someone playing in lavers that had absolutly no toe box, like it was all cut off, at worlds in San Fransisco... I assume this means you can play barefoot as well.

It was probably Daryl Genz. Genzu Blades. Blades is footbag slang for kicks, which means shoes

The last time I talked to Cody was over a year ago at Texas States in 2003. Cody was not playing at the time. He did come to the tournament, videoed, and even hit pdx torque on demand. But he didn't shred really at all. I think he got burnt out from footbag and was taking time off. I am not sure if he was just taking a sabbatical or quitting for good. I no longer live in Austin so I haven't kept up with him. He probably is a senior in high school by now. Maybe someone else on the board would have a better update.

I have seen a Vid of this guy. They are like blue lavers with no toe box. I was like WOAH...but I think it should be all shoe or no shoe...none of this half way stuff. Toe stalls with that kind of mod would be much much easier I think. Oh well...in the big scheme of things it dosent bother me that much.

Wow. You poor, poor newbies :(
Have you ever heard of Kenny Schults?

Thanks Curtis. That's too bad. I hope he starts playing again. He had such nice form, too!

<off topic>
EDIT: Daryl used to play in sandals (Tevas?) I don't see how cutting the toe box out of Lavers is any different. I'm pretty sure all of the boulder blades played in sandals (and shaved their heads?) for, like, a year and it stuck with a few of them. Red played in sandals for ages, too and Dave Holton (still did?). I think I saw Eli in sandals, too.

EDIT 2: I was always under the impression that "blades" were your legs, like your shins -- like the blades on a pair of scissors, like you shred the bag. But back on topic...

I'm not discounting that it's a hard trick, even barefoot. I'm just saying that it's substantially easier barefoot. You have MUCH less weight on your feet. I remember you saying somewhere that once you switched to Lavers, a certain trick become a whole lot easier. So don't you discount that tricks become easier dependant on your footwear.

I would personally be much more impressed by a pixie flurry that was actually hit in shoes -- and it has been. (but that doesn't mean that I'm not impressed, regardless) Sorry for the harsh wording. I'm sure as a toe-to-toe player you can appreciate the difference between a high dex move with shoes and without.

Also, I didn't bring up footwear in competition.

Somehow I always seem to go off topic when I post. :-p

Yeh, I know who he is, it's just when I went to worlds in San Fransisco I didn't... I didn't really know what footbag was... i didn't actually start playing footbag for like a year or two after that :D

Genzu had the toe area cut off his lavers at Worlds, i don't know when he started that... but I'm pretty sure that the videos of Chicaco on footbag.org show him in sandals.

I think that you're thinking of Jorden Moir. I remember him having lavers with the toe box completely cut out in that video where he said things like I stole this move from pinkus or something about being a theif, and then someone cleverly said that he also stole Daryl's shoes.

Here's a picture of Daryl with his "Blades".
