So an answer based on a myth has no philosphical disagreements ?
your use of the term myth offends me and probably other people. i would be less offended if you had mentioned that its only your opinion, not fact. derogatory stuff regarding religion hasnt made it to the offensive level of homophobic language, but people might request the same regulations if stuff like that becomes more common...sorry if this has nothing to do with the thread...i think mohkale is right anyway

I think it's a valid answer based on a popular legend, and a good riddle really. It definately had that out of box "oh yeah" moment to the answer.

Since it's for zero points I'll take that as an answer so we can get the game rolling. Yes, the answer is Cain. He murdered his brother Abel thereby murdering 25% of the Earth's population.

Mohkale gets to ask the next riddle.

Tsiangkun: The point is that mine was a riddle with a very clear and specific answer with few interpretations. Quantum's had various interpretations from both reader and questioner that I thought I pointed out clearly enough with the various links I posted as well as your own interpretation to the question. I'm mostly inclined to believe you know better and are just making an argument for arguments sake.

Slapdash: Point made, and a good one. Now please take the fight out of this thread if you feel the need to pursue it.

A father and a son were involved in a car accident. The father died and the son got seriously injured. Later, when the son went to a surgery the operating doctor said: ”I can’t operate, the patient is my own son.” How is it possible?

Sorry if it's too easy, I just couldn't think of any other.

well, there's no such thing as women doctors, so that rules out the Dr. being his mom. . . .
I'm drawing a blank here.

The father in the car was the grandpa. Who is technically a father. The kids actual dad was the doctor.

He was operating on a different patient, and the son in the car accident is waiting his turn to be operated on?

Edit: Wow, we all posted at like the same instant. Actually I think Cameron is right, that didn't occur to me for some reason.

Cameron's obviously right.

It's really easy, but when my girlfriend asked me this, I just couldn't figure it out. We men are such shovinists we think the only jobs suitable for women include cleaning or another kind of sucking

Richard, Kev and James like coffee, but Andrew, Anne and John don't.
Does Simon like coffee?

and why, since it's a yes or no type of question.

I'll give you a hint.

Ahasuerus does not like coffee, and neither does Jehoshabeath
but Melchizedek drinks coffee all day long.

Ahasuerus has 9 letters in his name. Why doesn't he like coffee?

I was going for prime numbers, but with the example I used in the first posting, odd numbers are good enough.
