Jesus Built my Net Kit...

Post by footbinc »

Done...

Well, since ive had such an enjoyable time reading the various diatribes of other freestylers chronicling (sic) their adventures in footbagging, i thought id get my 2 cents in. Actually its mostly cause I have a different footblog (helsinki2005.blogspot.com) that no one reads. And, since net with 1 person is about as much fun as beating your dick flat with a hammer, that I would start playing freestyle again.

Its been very interesting reading all this stuff about freestyle. When I used to freestyle (circa 1997), it was a different world. Dimwalk wasnt a dimwalk, it was a pixie butterfly and goddammit, it will always be a pixie butterfly. Shredding with Rory (mike?), Kevin and now Byrin, and hearing them blather off about assassin this and phoenix that makes me insane.

Anyways, we have another "demo" tonite at the Y, which should be good. I think Byrin is coming again and its quite a pleasure to watch that guy kick. Im going to re-learn blizzard tonite (as long as its still called a blizzard) and work on my symp whirling swirling dragons.

Cheers

Play Net

I understand that...freestyle can be that way too. I try getting people at school toplay but they dont practice so they suck. I would love to try net though. It looks really cool.

Friday Night Lights

Post by footbinc »

Well the demo was nice. Hit Blizzard and as an added bonus Gyro Mirage. Is there a fancy name for a blurry legbeater? If there is, thats gay. Also gay is muted and rooted. and fairy (cause i cant do it). Things are looking up in freestyle land, maybe i might compete in intermediate in worlds (yea, right...). Oh well, enough of this shit, beer time. Hey, would anyone (all you easterners) come to a tourney here in alberta (edmonton). WE have mosquitos, and shitty weather, but i might be able to dig up free beer and smokes ;)

Do you mean clip>op in>op out>op out > op clip?

did you do this like a stepping set or was the first dex symple, then it would be called shooting butterfly

No no, I thought the same thing, but they were trying to do it like a Blurry Dada, with the second dex reversed, grifter-style. I suggested that maybe it was like a Sidewalk reverse swirl, but the dexterity order is a bit different. *shrug* I really don't know.

And I've decided that this is now the Edmonton Blog. Or Alberta. Whatever.

I'm at work and my neck is soooooo sore. I think I pulled a muscle trying Diving Spinning Osis or Diving Gyro whirl. I'll remember to stretch it out for our next shred.

A lot of the same kids came out for the demo as did last week. This one guy had atw on his foot like eight hundred times. Well, eight times anyway. Rory and I mentioned that there may be a footbag class if there's enough interest, and I promised them that if they came to the class, and practised as we suggested, that they would be hitting mirage > legover > rpt in no time at all. I think I said 3 months. Seemed attainable.

I'm so stoked for next weekend, or wait, no the weekend after that. FREQUENCY is happening here in Edmonton, a big rave from 9pm til 7am. Byrin's coming down for it, and if there's ample space, we're going to shred. We're looking into getting some blacklight-sensitive paint or some glow-in-the-dark stuff to cover the bag with, so that with our amazing skills we might show up the glowstickers, poplockers and so on and so forths.

Hopefully we'll get some footage of it, even if it means 45 seconds on Byrin's digicam. :P

Monday's are gay

Post by footbinc »

So, im sitting here in my office thinking:

A - Mondays are gay and;
B - Why dont more people play net

I cant come up with an answer that is satisfying enough to point b, so im hoping someone else can. Also, anyone going to the windchill and maybe need a partner? If I can find one, id be willing to head out there from some kickin...

If not, oh well. Anyone got a name for blurry leg beater yet? (the concept i was getting at is this: Think BLizzard, but instead of catching it on yer toe, doing a butterfly AFTER the last dex of a normal blizzard, so it would be caught on the same foot as your setting foot.) ANd does Alllan Haggett post on these boards? Allan, you here? You rule!!! Its been a while bud. When is your vic freestyle thing? Maybe ill come out and show you and jubal and jeremy how freestyle is really played ;)

Cheers

Haha, Mondays are incredibly tedious. Even though my weekdays are the same, Monday is just the worse. I'm not fond of Tuesdays either.

Anyways, I don't think I can make it downt o E-town this weekend guys :(:(:(::(. My father is working extremely hard to get this business rolling and on Thursday he is leaving for Hay River. On Saturday he is traveling to Lacrete and from there I have no clue. Unless his appointments cancel, it's a no go for the B-meister.

I WILL bring Friday/Saturday to my father's attention before he leaves Kevin. If by chance he is busy then also, I will still give you coinage for the tickets asap via mail or something.

Also, do any of you guys have a program that rips songs off of CDs??? I just found my Hackers 2 CD and it's sooooooooooooooooooo fucked up. Seriously, after the 6th song it starts playing but then starts playing in reverse. I want to get the songs that are good off of it while it's still playable. Good music too, I know Kevin would enjoy atleast ONE song :P :D

Hey Ben, change the name of this thread to "ShrEdmonton Freestyle/Deadmonton Net" or something.

I kicked with Rory at West Edmonton Mall on Tuesday, our usual spot atop the HMV stage. The location usually makes for lots of foot traffic, so it's a nice area. This fellow Dwayne (Dwayne Rory? I think so.) came up quite interested and ended up kicking with us for awhile. I seem to remember him hitting a bunch of butterfly kicks, some xbd-heels and an atw! We gave him a club flyer, so hopefully he he takes some initiative and gives us a call.

Another demo at the YMCA tomorrow, making it the first one that wasn't otherwise already scheduled. This means, if you are unaware, that there's INTEREST. Apparently the Y has been getting good feedback from parents too.

We've been having an open-house kinda feel to the activities, we invite them in, get them to try a few kicks, some delays maybe, some dexes if that's appropriate...we had a lot of the same kids return last week, two with the bags that we'd given them the week before! (And we only gave out two. ;)) The age of the people there range from...oh maybe 10 - 20 Rory? Glenn's a bit older, I'd say at least 20.

I like to think Edmonton has some good footbag teachers, so with any luck we may be taking on the task of running a footbag CLASS there in the studio. It really is a great space, I'd love for that opportunity to come about.

The only downside is that my job runs from midnight to 9am every Friday and Saturday night(Except this coming weekend, WOO HOO FREQUENCY BYRIN.). The demos run from 7-10pm every friday night, which, understandably, makes for a very tired me by the time 4am rolls around.

If you still don't quite fathom the situation, maybe this will help. This is a picture my brother took on the morning of last Saturday: Bam.

Oh, and furthermore...

I got some mail today.

I've already got some of it planned, but I'm now officially entertaining the idea of going to Finland...

Oh my God!! Oh my God!! Oh my God!!!

Can you say "Two 256 meg memory cards for Byrin's digi camera?!?!?!" I know I sure can!

That works out to roughly 14 minutes and 36 seconds of footage on each memory card - a totaly of nearly 30 minutes! Plus I can edit all the shitay stuff out directly on the camera, making EVEN MORE ROOM to get the goods!

Can I get a "whoop whoop"!

But is your camera fixed yet Byrin? If it is so, then and only then will you get what you so desire.

Now now people, nothing is final. Right now, these are the expenses I foresee:

Tuition debt to parents: $900
Midi controller: ~$250
Digital Camcorder: $150-$600 (eBay most likely...)
ShrEdmonton Banner: $80

Sooooo folks, that's somewhere in the range of $1380-$1830 dollars.

Leaving me with app. $670-$1120.

Now I just need to research what this trip would cost me.
