have you tested the durability of these bags?
If they last for more than 1 month or so, i will trade you an abshire for one. It seems like they would need 0 breaking in because of the panne.
Sweet shoes also.

It takes just a little over zero break in time I would guess.
I mean, we were shredding with it right away when I first gave it to him.
The fabric looks so rich in the picture.
Jared, you should fluff up the bag and post a pretty picture of it plunked on your lavers.
Hey, it kinda looks like a gorey wound in the side of your zebra when you catch it.
Does the bag have a name yet?

yeah, i've only had it a day and a bit, but its totally playable. i'm having a little troube cause I changed the way my shoes were tied, and i'm missing some toe delays that I'd usually hit. That and the new bag are making me feel like my playing is crap right now, but i think it'll make me better in the long run.
it doesn't have a name, and to be honest, it probably won't ever. i'm not really the kind of person who names objects. i can hardly remember the names of friends - it's like every time i learn a new one, i forget an old one. I struggled really hard to remember the name of a buddy i hadn't seen in like, a month, this weekend. then when i got to school on monday, i'd forgotten the name of a girl i've had classes with since last year. I still can't remember her name... man, that's wierd.

What the hell is that, you might ask if you don't live in Canada. Why, it's my GST rebate cheque I'd reply...
So? So it means I can afford a new tattoo! Now, I can hear you say, what kind of a tattoo can you get for fifty measly bucks? A shitty one! Hooray for shop minimums! Check out my other two:

Fifty bucks each buddy. I can't wait for my next one... now I've just gotta figure out what I'm getting...

So i've realized a lot of things lately, and a lot of that has had to do with footbag. especially about being bothsided. that's a fantastic concept.
on of the things i've realized is that bothsidedness has a lot of sub categories. for example, footbag has helped me be more bothsided in my body and mind - not only that, but having a strong body is one side, and mind is the other side. then there's being both sided horizontally and laterally in your body. my lower body is MUCH stronger than my skinny upper body. to change that, i'm going to have to start working my upper body.
My mind is both sided - there's an analytical side and a creative side. my analytical skills are taxed every day with school, but when do i get to be creative? one of my newyears resolutions (that i'm sorta sticking to...) is to draw and write more.
I also decided as of last night not to smoke weed anymore. then today i bought a gram off a budy because i'm going to a show on thursday. i decided that to be self-consistent with my newfound resolution, i'm going to eat the weed, so i'll still be high but i won't rip my lungs up.
me and the girl i was seeing recently split up (ie, this weekend) but it was pretty much the most amicable break up i've ever had. we really like each other, and our physical chemistry is fantastic, but we don't have a lot in common. She likes to go out drinking four nights a week and i, well... don't. So we talked about it, and we're going to take a break, hang out every once in a while and see how things go. I've decided to let relationships do what they need to do... not cling to anything or try and force something that isn't working. I want my relationships to grow organically at their own pace.
anyway, these are just things i've been thinking about, and its nice to have a personal space to write them down in. Not that it gives any real insight into my life, because i like to think i'm too complicated to sum up in a couple paragraphs, but I think that writing down, even just for yourself, your thoughts at any one time can be a totally therapeutic exercise. plus, now i can't renege on my plans.

so my clippers were really sucking lately, and Mosher, who is basically my coach now (and how convenient is that?) says to me that he wants me to do a pattern of toe and clipper delays and i have to hit twenty contacts. I couldn't, but it sure made me feel better about my clippers. All you gotta do is drill... Also, i think i'd be a better player if i could get it together to train for an hour every day, instead of for a couple hours a couple times a week. Once i move it'll be easier for sure...
oh yeah, i've decided to start sticking things through my nose, just to see what'll fit. here are my first two tries:

that's a toothpick... its not very smooth, so i had to lube it to get it in...

The skewer was actually pretty loose, and also REALLY long, so i could feel it shaking around whenever i moved my head.
I could actually see myself wearing the toothpick, but never the skewer. I would got crazy looks then, i tell you.

Okay! So, basically GLASS kicked my ASS. I've bascially been sleeping since I got back. I'm not even joking, I'm fucking exhausted. Anyway, so: glass.
Ryan Seath picked me and Derrick up in Kingston around seven thirty, and we cruised into Toronto around Ten, so we were pushing it a little I guess, 'cause it's about 300 km to toronto... Ryan drove us most of the way and I took over for the last little bit 'cause i know my way around Toronto, having driven a truck there last summer.
We stayed (as those of you who were there know) in a hostel in Kensington Market. The hostel was up the street from the tattoo parlour where I got my first tattoo, and two blocks directly east of the tattoo parlour I got my third tattoo at sal's tattoo and barbershop. But that's a story I'll tell a little later in this post!
Once in toronto we made for the Bahen Centre to shred, but just as we got there the campus security showed up and kicked our asses out. There was nothing for it but to pack up and go shred else where. A couple of us shredded at the hostel in a grimy back room garage for a while, then headed over to Peel Pub. Now, I know this has been posted about already, but it fucking rocked: shredding on the dancefloor at Peel Pub. What the fuck? How did this happen? I don't even know. Some kids were circling by the pool tables, and instead of kicking our asses out like most peel pubs would have (most peel pubs are greasy and full of horny jocks. The one in toronto was empty for some reason) they just asked us to go upstairs.
This is kinda sad, but I think I shredded my best on friday night! I felt good, I was having fun, and I was absolutely no pain. I can't say that way about the rest of the weekend...
In anycase, after staying up until four thirty, I didn't hurt at all to wake up at ten thirty the next morning.
Yeah... Right... Oh well. I made the best of it by cooking myself an enormous pancake. Unfortunately there was no grease in the kitchen so it stuck to teh pan and was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Everybody else went off to get breakfast, and I walked down to my friend Tina's cheese shop in the market ("Cheese Magic") to say hello before I walked up to Sal's to get my tattoo done. The artist, Gregg Kidd put on rambo "First Blood" for me to watch while he did his shit, of which I'm glad, cause some of it was teeth-clenchingly painful, especially over my collarbone and down by my armpit.
What's that? You want to see a picture of my fat new tattoo?
BLIZANG:

So, yeah. That hurt a fuckload. But it was worth it. I then mosied on down college to the church, stopping on the way to chat with my friend Jess, who is actually from montreal, and was just down for the weekend. It's funny who you run into, eh? As an aside, I once ran into my good friend Giles in Dublin. Neither of us new the other was even in the city, and we met at an art gallery showing the work of Francis Bacon (who I like, and who he is obcessed with). Random.
Well, I've got to run smoke a J with some friends. I'll write more later.

jared,
i remember being at the church and having you walk in and thinking to my self "oh fuck, what has he done? what can you get for 50 bucks? he's totally gonna regret this..." and then you whipped off the bandages and i was super impressed thinking "woah, that's a tight tatoo! i want one..." but then i saw you kind of wincing while you were playing and i thought "maybe i'll get one when i can't play footbag for a while..."
holy run on sentence batman! either way, i really enjoyed hanging out with you, you're really easy to get along with. cheers!

giggling like a little girl? a little girl with a big tattoo i guess... yeah, i was pretty excited... actually, i realized i need another one: a big fucking hard-core one. my tape is emo, my resistor is nerdy and my bird if pretty granola-hippy. i need a bad-ass one to balance them out...
hey, thanks andrew. maybe we can shred the next time i cruise through winterpeg. I have to admit I didn't enjoy watching everybody shred at GLASS, because even though some people have skillz, they don't have a lot of style. you on the other hand have both in spades!
I guess i feel like I should talk about the rest of glass, but everyone else seems to have summed it up pretty well. The only thing that really stands out in my mind (besides the footbag) is this woman from Ithica that came up with a bunch of kids who were just into kicking (which i found sorta wierd. why drive 1 1/2 hours just to kick?). Anyway, she was (I think) 27 and used to be a public school teacher, but had a bunch of tattoos and a septum ring and was incredibly hot. Usually I don't get crushes on women six years older than me, but man - I want to go to Ithica and marry that girl...
Ah well, back to real life. I've sorta realized that I've been pretty depressed lately. It took me a while to piece together all the symptoms, but i've reached that conclusion. I thought it was just midterm blues, but i've had it all term, and i finally figured out why:
I FUCKING HATE my program. I hate mechanical engineering, and that's all there is to it. I don't have a single interesting class this semester (except design, which hardly counts). In fact, i'm not studying right now for a midterm tonight because the class is boring the pointless and i'm sick of jumping through hoops. I used to justify all the bullshit to myself with "it's just shit they're making you do so you can get the mech degree and get a good job".
well you know what? fuck that. I don't want to sacrifice four years of my life to something that may or may not be useful. I want to LEARN something. Shit. Anything.
So basically even though it'll send my ass back to second year next year, i think i'm going to transfer to the civil engineering program. I should have gone into civil environmental last year, but at the very last minute I decided to switch to the harder, more boring program. why? cause i'm a fucking idiot.
I hope all of you are feeling better about your schooling than I am.
