I have to say andrew, you were my favorite person i met at glass....everyone was great but not everyone was a comedian and a hardcore shredder. I mean come on! your beer wasn't worth 10$ let alone 20$ i will totally find a way to pay you back and surprise you at the same time. (thoughts of showing up for the hackrifice comp. in AUG./SEPT. crosses my mind. with Johnny and friends MAYBE... :D ))

PS. VIDEO??? soonish? is there anyway to bribe you into hurrying the process?

I think this has got to be one of the most Blogged footbag events I've seen. It's so cool to read everyone's story from their own viewpoint, and see where each overlaps. :)

I'd really like to see some video, even if it's nothing else but the pub shred. That sounds like quite a unique experience.

Now I need to visit the urinasium. :)

hey thanks adam, that's very flattering. Adam is a super down guy for droping 98 bucks to keep the pub owners from bustin heads. i totally forgot that a whole bunch of people didn't pay for their drinks and food at the pub. there was $98 dollars outstanding that hadn't been payed for. Adam Czarnata stepped up and payed for all of it. i had a couple glasses from a pitcher and a guiness i had yet to pay for, so i tossed him 20 bucks to help cover the cost. i am sure glad that some one did it. because i really really didn't have the cash to throw down, even if i was going to be repaid. i hope the people who didn't pay the first night hooked adam up, because that would be a pretty shitty way to thank some one for keeping the pub owners from busting out the louisville slugger and giving us the beat down. huge props go to Adam C for stepping up.

edit. i edited my original glass post and inserted what i wrote just above.
edit2 showing up for hackrifice would be HUGE!!!

I woke up on the second day of GLASS at 9:30, when the other guys in the room started moving around and getting their stuff together. i recall rolling over and asking tom when we had to be at the church for the comp. he said 11, and i rolled over and went back to sleep.

i woke up again at 10 when my cellphone clock went off. i went out on the balcony to hack a butt, climbed back into the room, downed some advil that jon gave me and pounded some water in hopes of getting rid of my head ache. i wandered down to the washrooms to get my clean on, and walked in on yax, dropping trou to get into the shower. this is the first time i saw a BAP members penis (edit this is not true, Ales has a habit of dropping his pants when he is changing for a session regardless of place or cover), and i have to say i was a little let down  ANYWAY... one shower had the knob broken off of it so you couldn't change the temperature, but could turn it on. saddly it was set top the hottest setting. the coldest i could deal with, i've done a polar bear jump, so a cold shower would be cake, but the water kept scalding me. i would get in> get burned> jump out> repeat. i figured my body just needed some time to get accustomed to the heat. no dice. it must have been funny for yax in the next stall just hearing "ow.... ow ow... ouch.... ow... ow ow ow!!!" i gave up and just waited for him to finish. i got in and just let the water pound on my legs since i forgot to strech last night, with the cops coming and then with the drinking yada yada yada. it was a god thing i wore a t-shirt and pants down to the showers because i forgot to bring a towel to torono. the other guys (who didn't shower untill sunday morning :? just used their bed sheets)

i got my stuff together and we all piled out and met downstairs. we didn't really know the area all that well, and didn't know where a good place for breakfast would be so we decided to walk down to einsteins, the sunday breakfast place. we all walk in and the guy says "didn't you see the sign? we're closed," some one says "oh, k, well when do you open?" "4pm".
crap, so we all mill about out front of the place and try to figure out what we are going to do. some one points out the pita pit right down the way. every one mumbled agreement. tghe guy at pita pit didn't look happy to see us. it's around 11 on a saturday morning, no one's in the place and then bam you get about 15 orders all at once! and some girl was late for work and walked in while we were mid orders, the guy behind the counter didn't look impressed.

chicken caesers were the big one. most people had them. i noshed on mine as well as some chockolate milk, which came back to haunt me to when we started playing. Matt LaRoque (god i hope i got that right) from alymer was trying to refill a 32 at our table and was using a set of key to push bb's through. i was afraid the keys might catch on the material rip it so i grabbed a straw and nabbed moshers little bag sewing scisors and showed matt the straw in the openings trick and he filled it up really quick after that.

we all left and started back towards the hostel, since the church we would be playing at was back past it. i wasn't feeling too hot after breakfast, and fell towards the back of the pack. we got there and the church was huge! we were wondering which of the many doors to use, but they had posted a lovely sign saying GLASS use back door. figures...

i walked in and saw jorden moir, chad ellen, and some new faces i hadn't seen before. i said my hellos and changed into shred gear after watching jorden in a barefoot session. he hit fairy ducking eggbeater, which was pretty cool.

i started playing with jon, matt and chad and circle jumped after that. i was trying to drink alot of water to kill my hangover, but i was just starting to feel heavy and sick. i quit and went to have a smoke. i might have filmed a bit right here, but i can't remember, it might have been befor i started playing... any hoo, i then went out to find an ATM with Paul Agoiofsiofneli (i can't quite remember how to spell it be he shall just be called Nel from now on) we walked to a shoppers drug mart, no dice, the clerk there says "there's a bank right over there" and points the the building just across from the church... d'oh. i go and get some money, walk back to shoppers to buy a pack of cigs, turns out shoppers doesn't sell cigs in ontario... d'oh. i go back to the church and greenwood says there's a convenience store close and shows me the way over.

back to the church and this is where every thing goes a bit fuzzy. it all becomes a massive ball with no real time line, so i'm just going to list some happenings but they probably won't be in order...

i did alot of circle jumping and bought a GLASS shirt from tom as well as some pins ([dex], BSOS, Tripless, and a GLASS pin] and later traded back my shirt for a different color scheme.

the competition was run and i was on the judging panel for the shred 30. they tried a different way of judging it, where one person counts adds, one does contacts, and one does drops so that in the video replay all they would have to look for would be uniques. didn't work, since i was still writing down a name when they started to shred. i went up and did my shred. i had planned to do my 20 and i figured i'd wing it after that, i hit my first 9, then dropped, then dropped first try at the next trick and just basically said "oh fuck it" and improvised. i was drop heavy with 5, but it was still fun. i really wish i knew what my score was, i should ask camille or adub to see if it's written down any where.

they then ran the sick 3, and johnny, jorden, yax, matt cross and i had a sick 3 circle. johnny hit some thing stupid good on like his first try. fairy ducking butter> blurry whirl> pdx torque i think, i know the first 2 are right. i didn't hit anything in the circle. i was going for blurry whirl> blurry whirl> pdx torque. i had my osis foot in the wrong place twice when doing it. when trying my sick 3 i got a calf cramp on my 4th try and had to change my combo. i tried pheonix> pdx blender> ps whirl, but got no where near it. so i bowed out as did yax and johnny, and pretty much every one, but jorden ripped it up! his winning one was janiwalker> bedwetter> pixie torque.

sick one was cool. i don't remember everythign jorden hit, but i know they credited him with blurry flux as his sickest which won him 3rd place. i hit backside symple foodprocessor fist try. that got me stoked, so i was trying for whirlygig rake, no such luck. on my last try tom yelled out "gauntlet" so i gave it a try and got the dex, but didn't have the rotation to land the osis. yax won it with symposium whirling symposium mirage. he also hit stepping reaper, and i have never seen one look as cool as that one did! so tight and perfect.

those of us who tossed in 5 bucks got a pizza lunch. we were all pretty hungry when lunch rolled around (ahem at 4pm... we should have just gone to einsteins ) i ate a little toofast, and got a tummy ache (that's right i said tummy). i hacked a butt and then i hear some grumblings about 4-square. "OH SHIT! WE TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT 4-SQUARE!" he rounded up some tape and we made a four square court. when i got to the kings square in one round, tricky serves were on and i racked up 14 straight points, befor i was taken down and i never got another point in that game  every one was gunning for me and totally forgot about chris dean or whom ever ended up winning the round. we had some of the crazies rules ever. like fliers on, spikes on with air shred, all sorts of fun ones. i was going goddly in the air shred one, i think i bailed to blurriest once since i didn't have the set to end on a swirl:lol:

at some point i remember taking my shirt off to play and being very embarassed when the 70-something church lady walked in and looked right at me, turned around and walked away.

erik had given me 5 DVD's to bring and i gave them to tom so he and the others could decide what to do with them. in the excitemnt they all got raffeled off in between the events. i think i even won one of the dvds but had them draw another name. i won a mosher baby bag (baby blue/ grey) for my second place in sick 1.

i gave camille my camera to use when she asked if she could film, and i had a heart attack when i saw her walking around with out it and it wasn't in my bag. i saw some girl who was wearing regular street cloths and i hadn't seen her playing footbag all day and i didn't recognize her, and she's holding it!!! instead of sneaking up behind her and clocking her upside the head with a chair and taking my camera back (which was plan A) i chose plan B and asked camille, as kindly as i could manage, who the fuck was using my camera. i probably came off like total cock snot, but i'm pretty paranoid and jumpy about those kind of things. i think it's the copious amounts of caffeine i ingest. yesterday i had 2 cokes, 3 16oz cups of coffee, and 5 pepsi', one of which i shot gunned. any way, turns out it was her cousin (i think) and that she was cool. made me really happy i didn't pull an ultimate warrior and give her the chair off the top ropes. how bad would that have made me look?!?!

the end came, we cleaned up and every one headed back to the pub or the hostel. i went to the hostel and every one looked like they were hanging around for a while, lounging on the japanese guys bed etc., so i went and had another shower and got my stuff prepared for another night of crazy footbagging at the pub. when i got out of the shower the only other person still around was yax so we walked down to peel pub.

I sat around and had a couple beers with yax, camille and jon and every one ate poutine. yax had italien poutine and started to feel sick again, so i chowed down on most of his left overs. matt cross ducked out early too. i think all the physical strain of the day had been too much for his sick recuperating body and head headed off for a nap. we all headed upstairs to the dance floor and started kicking. it didn't last too long because tonight was Latin Dance Night (WTF?) so they played alot of ricky martin (boo) and gypsie kings (good!) and people wanted to use the dance floor for dancing, go figure! we had to play down stairs so we shoved some tables out of the way and got to a small circle going.

i came back in from hacking a butt and jorden said he had footed a new invention and wondered if i could film. i was happy to oblige. he footed it many a time and i suggested he work on something else for a while. he hit a few new ones and i got them on film. i was filming from above and had to hold my camera above the crowd, one time my arm got tired and no one was busting really really big so i shut the camera off, just intime to miss one of jordens new inventions. crap. i had him hit it again, but i was abit pissed about missing the invention.

i put the camera down and started to kick with jorden, paul towes, camille and johnny. eventually it was a last man standing session with jorden and i. i was hard pressed to try and keep up, and i pretty much got owned the whole time. we had a little section where we were trying to hit a beast. i managed my usual food> mullet, and i hit a new one with whirly gig> whirl wind but couldn't manage anything to finish off the combo. jorden has a huge repatoir of 6add tricks. he was trying to link something different every time. he managed whirly gig> food> mind bender. i gave him huge props for busting that one. i started to get tired as we both started trying to out bust each other with single tricks, again i was owned time and time again. i hit backside bedwetter on my third try and said i would end my session with that.

we hung around the bar for a while longer. mosher finally showed up again at some point while i was kicking. he started nel on a 12 panel footbag. every one just chilled, some sick one add tricks went down and camille was hitting these cool walkover> reverts. i had a few more beers and then finished of toms slurpee.

we all wound up walking back to the hostel and partied in our room this time. yax pretty much just lay there long into the night groaning and rolling over every now and again. i tried to do some yoga and strech out but there wasn't any room. i convinced people to get off my bed so i could lie down for a little bit, but i just ended up going outside to hack a butt with paul towes and we talked some footbag politics for a while. camille and adub said they were leaving and that paul had to come with right away. they took off and we said our goodbyes and we decided to call it a night. every one went back to their respective rooms.

dan feary had an early flight the next morning and so he called it quits earlier and went to the sleeping room. jorden stayed in ours as well as derrick from the KFM, and they shared a bed but were careful not to acctually touch each other whilst sharing. i had to laugh at jorden as he hung off the bed a bit and derrik was wedged up against the wall. i would have been worried if i was jorden because derrick was super drunk, and it wouldn't have surpried me if he had vomited or pissed him self while asleep. lucky jorden, since he didn't.

i was so tired at this point that alot of what was being said didn't make sense, but i'll try my best to explain what happened... i went to brush up and came back into the room only to have tom and johnny ask me if i would accept their invitation to "Super BAP". apparently, they had created it in the time it took me to brush my teeth and it's the new big rage in the footbag underground... i was pretty tired and coming down off the drinks and just wanted to go to bed, so i pulled a ken somolinos and graciously declined. They said they were going to keep inviting me untill i joined so i said fine, i'm in. I was then dubbed "The Decliner". some one said that jon looked deflated now that he wasn't lifting weights as much and he then was dubbed "The Deflator". at this point "sleep" had been pushed so far back with pikes and sharp pointy things that it had given up all hope of taking over room 404 and had fallen asleep it's self. we were running on pure adrenalin and laughing like heyenas at any thing. when ever it would get quiet for a minute i would always break it up by putting on my ring side announcer voice and say "The De-Flay-Tor!"which would get the giggles going around again. i don't remember how tom was dubbed "The Inhaler", but i think he was banging around on the top bunk and when i asked him what he was doing he responded with "i'm looking for my inhaler" to which i yelled "The In-Hale-Or!" and it stuck. it has a clever double meaning. johnny started moaning about his nic name. we said he already was Johnny "SuPerman" Suderman, with the upside down d. he complained about it already being ales' nic name. we said he was acctually "the man of steel" and they just called him superman because it's shorter. johnny got fed up and said "Fine, I'll settle with it then..." tom piped up with "hahaha, you're Johnny 'The Settler' Suderman" and we laughed like fucking morons. that was the creation of super bap and the original 4 members.

some one said jorden should be super bap, because he's pretty super, but some one said no because he was already in acctual BAP, and you couldn't be in both. we had a laugh at a crazy scenario where some one in super bap got invited into BAP and being like "Sorry guys, i'm already in super BAP, i can't join regular BAP..." and having all the real bappers just kind of go bug eyed and be like "THERE'S A SUPER BAP? WHAT THE FUCK??? NO ONE TOLD ME!!!!" again more laughing like idiots. at this point yax got up. i though he was going to smother us with our pillows or hang us from the top bunk with our bed sheets since it was like 4 30am, but he just ran to the bathroom to vomit. i guess he just couldn't handle not being allowed into super bap  i made the decision to pass out about here, and don't remember what other really really stupid stuff happened after that.

i woke up the next morning absolutly drained. turns out yax was invited into super bap in the morning and was going to be dubbed "The Puker" but mika kostinnen already kinda has the "puka" name, so it was decided he'd be called "The Traitor"

any way. it took me for ever to get my shit together. i packed like 3 times before i got every thing. all showered and changed into my plane clothes we cleaned up the room and checked out of the room. i wonder if they found tom's 32?

every one met down stairs and we just started walking. no real place to go since the sunday breakfast place didn't open till 4. we wound up at mr. sub. i thought it would be a good time to call home and see what my flights looked like. me mam checked it out and the 4pm flight i was going to take was over sold so she changed me to a 2pm flight. it was 11:30 at the time, which didn't leave me with lots of time to get to the flight. i quickly ran to burger king right next door, where there was no line up, grabbed a whopper, ran back, said some really quick, rushed goodbyes good wishes and promises to come back next year then yax and i flagged a cab. we talked for about 5 minutes about nothing then both fell asleep. woke up just before the airport. yax hopped out at terminal 2. we both thanked each other for the good conversation we had over the weekend and the fun partying. i apologized for keeping him up, but he said he had a nice plane ride home to sleep on. i got dropped of at terminal one, and walking through the big double doors tired, hung over and sore i was sad that it was over, but was satisfied in knowing that GLASS2 would be even better...

A HUGE thank you goes out to ADub, Camille and Tom for making it happen. I'll be back next year.

holy crap. huge props goes out to who ever reads that whole post! i tried to reread it and didn't make it the whole way.

i have some edits to make. friday night when tom was driving us to the shred spot to meet ADub he he did like 3 u turns we started out the right direction, he got confused reading the map and u turned. he later realized his mistake and u turned again, and then we over shot the location and he threw down another u. it's not like there was a median, he would just throw down the u in the middle of where ever he felt like it. i was getting a little dizzy...

Kick-ass write-up Andrew!

It's so fucking hardcore that you flew out!

Also, I don't know if I ever told you how impressed I was to see you working helping out the competitions and then you also competed, intense!

I am really glad I got to spend more time with the legendary Delciner. :P

Glass write-ups are always a blast! It was awesome to see you shred in person. Hackrifice has a very good presence, and it seems a lot of beginners (myself included) know all of the hackrifice people. My cousin who I never even knew played that much was talking to me and he knew all of you guys.. nutz.

God damnit! Your non-fictional footbag recap is better than my fictional ones! :x

Man, GLASS sounds like it was so much fun. That tourney report was so good! I was literally laughing out loud at several parts! Thanks for the write up.

Hmmm.... I just got a good idea. When you come visit Japan in May, we`ll party and shred real hard, and then we can have a blog competition to see who does the better report after the event!

*click* note to self: get ken super drunk so he can't remember the best parts to write in his blog. *click*

*click* note to self: buy a tape recorder so i don't have to talk into the garage door opener when i'm in japan...*click*

ken, it's interesting that you should mention the fictional blog reports since i was going to do one. i was chatting with mosher and he said had already done his account. i figured i'd just nmake one up, but then we started talking about the stuff that was left out, so i decided to do my best to cover everything. i really loved ken's Berlin 2008 report. he cut me and reni pretty deep when he didn't even mention the dark shadow cast over worlds by our untimely deaths in that botched bank robbery in zurich just after footjam...

okay, now that the GLASS report is done i have other things to write about.

after GLASS i took a week off from playing, i still did some kicking and some single move bare foot stuff in pants, but no session, no drilling, nothing serious. the goal was to focus on my health. for those of you who were at GLASS and walked down wind of me, you probably got lung cancer, and i'm sorry about that, but i have since quit smoking. it's been 6 full days now since my last cigarette and i feel great. well that's a filthy lie, i am coughing up all the tar and mucus that was in my lungs, i'm moody, i'm putting on weight, but i know it's for the best! i am gonna shred so fucking hardcore, bust super long runs full of 5's and 6's when my lungs get back into shape.

i have devised a new training program, it's a variation of my old one, but with a stricter time line, and more focus on components that i want to work on as opposed to just a general over view of everything. i'm finally begining to fall into my style, i know what i like and what i don't, i know how alot my stuff look and how i want it to look, now it's just a matter of making the changes in my game and focusing on what i like and what is fun.

on that note, here are some of my new favorite moves that i love, because they are fun to hit... (not new tricks, but new favorites)

smoke
haze
tombstone
pdx eggbeaters
toe whirls

here are fun new tricks i hit since saturday (new tricks as in never been hit befor)
fume both sides (and bsos)
fairy same dlo both sides
flog strong side
atomic drifter both sides
janiwalker both sides
fury both sides.

That GLASS report was the best post! Honestly! Wow...

You are too funny for words, Mr. Grant. I'm at work and you have me laughing out loud at my desk!

The 2nd night at the hostel sounded like so much fun! I knew I was going to feel bad about not staying there too (even though I live in the city). I thought I'd miss out and I certainly did :( . But at least we got to chill there for a bit.
i gave camille my camera to use when she asked if she could film, and i had a heart attack when i saw her walking around with out it and it wasn't in my bag. i saw some girl who was wearing regular street cloths and i hadn't seen her playing footbag all day and i didn't recognize her, and she's holding it!!! instead of sneaking up behind her and clocking her upside the head with a chair and taking my camera back (which was plan A) i chose plan B and asked camille, as kindly as i could manage, who the fuck was using my camera. i probably came off like total cock snot, but i'm pretty paranoid and jumpy about those kind of things. i think it's the copious amounts of caffeine i ingest. yesterday i had 2 cokes, 3 16oz cups of coffee, and 5 pepsi', one of which i shot gunned. any way, turns out it was her cousin (i think) and that she was cool. made me really happy i didn't pull an ultimate warrior and give her the chair off the top ropes. how bad would that have made me look?!?!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA! I'm very sorry I didn't ask you first, you're obviously very protective of your camera... She's actually my neice (one of the twins), and they do play, but they refused to play with us (they didn't have their Lavers and were too shy to play in front of all you guys). They filmed most of the competitions for us too.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for helping to judge and for your wicked report. Mine seems kind of pointless now, but it takes a different angle, and I already wrote most of the damn thing, so I'm posting it anyway!

yeah, i'm pretty paranoid. muggings are what really get me worked up so i'm usually on the look out for potentialy bad situations, and if i feel safe in that respect, then it's theft of my personal property that i'm on the look out for. i think i'm the only person at the event who locked their bag up AND THEN locked it to a table...

i've come across a song that has inspired me to make a short footbag related film. there will be shred in it but also some other things, some of the images might be pretty intense and graphic and hard to deal with, so i'm not sure if i will even post it on the forum, since it might give some of our younger surfers nightmares. i'm writing this down so that people can bug me about it, that way i don't "forget to shoot it". this is me making a comitment to finishing this video. now i need to scout some locations, but if worst comes to worst, it won't kill me to shred in my basement, where as it might kill me to use some of the locations i'm thinking about...
i don't want to reveal anything about the video just yet (if ever) and i might just make every one wait for it to go through production and get posted befor they find out anything about it.

as to the GLASS video, i am waiting for Camille to let me borrow a tape befor i even start, and she said she has to capture all of it, and she said that'll take a week, then she can send it to me, that'll probably take a week, and then i'll make the video, and that should take a week or so. so the ETA on the GLASS video is about 4 weeks off, i hope that's early enough for every one... if not, bug camille, send her PMs make her send it out tomorrow so we can get cracking at it!

Tokyo has some nice shred locations... maybe you could bring your camera over and we could get some shots over here.

i might bring my camera to japan simply so i can edit a video to "I think i'm turning Japanese" by The Vapors, with out it being totally stupid. still undecided because of weight, possibility of loss, and i'd rather be shredding as opposed to filming.

i'm really looking for some gritty, grungy sketchy looking places to play, and the exchange district has a plethora of those, but i want to do this befor japan, befor the snow melts (which might keep me out of the exchange any ways), and befor the creativity and energy for this project leaves me...

i'm busily drawing up a story board (well at the moment i'm taking a break, but you know what i mean) and all these fabulous ideas are coming to me, i have to keep adding PAGES inbetween FRAMES i have already done. i'll hack them all out later and fix them all in order to a poster board so i can keep all my ideas organized.
