I was reading that olympic games thread and there needs to be 75 countries with footbag comunities to get into olympics... how many countries are there?

Please name any countries you know with currently active footbag players living in them (net or freestyle). I will add them to this list as posted:

Keep in mind that just because one person in one country made a club on footbag.org, that doesn`t really mean there is a scene in that country.

Off the top of my head, here is a list of countries which have major footbag scenes. My arbitrary criteria for `major` is more than 20 people, run tournaments, and have players who compete at Worlds/Euros.

In rough order of size/strength of the scene, at least for the first few.

2. Finland
3. Canada
4. Poland
5. Czech Republic
6. Germany
7. Switzerland
8. Japan
9. New Zealand
10. Australia
11. Slovenia
12. Estonia
13. France
14. Russia
15. Austria
16. Denmark
17. Hungary

Towards the end of the list it got harder to think of countries. But yeah, no offense to Spain, England, Kazakhstan, etc, but they don`t have big enough scenes to really be considered footbag playing countries. For example, China was listed, but as far as I know, there are only a handful of players in Hong Kong, who don`t compete at Worlds and don`t host major tournaments. Same with Venezuela and a bunch of other listed countries.

At the moment footbag is mainly played in North America (US and Canada), central and eastern europe, Finland, Oceania (Aus and NZ), and Japan.

I think that there mmust be 75 countries with Federations of Footbag... So... In 75 countries footbag must be considered as a sport by governments of these countries. And in these countries must be a national Federations of Footbag... I don't know if there is a official Footbag Federation in any country... In Poland we have Polish Footbag Association, but it isn't under government, and footbag isn't listed in something like official sports list in Poland. Maybe in Czech Republik Footbag is an official sport? I don't know...
It will take many, many years to bring footbag to olympics or even to make footbag an official sport in some countries... As I know, for exampole, in Switzerland there are very big demands to make a sport official and make a federation of this sport. In Poland these demands aren't so big, so PFA is going in for make footbag an official sport, but I think that this will take a few years to success...

I think there were a couple of Swedes in Paris in November who were there to play net. I met somebody on the first day of the four-day long French Open, and, well, I can't remember any more. But something might be in the posted results from that event.

Thats right, and they were at the euros. One of them even took a medal in the intermediate net turnament
