I'm in and I do know who TJ is... East Coast and Worlds, unless Greg travels with 2 differents TJs.

We need to have a session sometime this weekend to, friday, saturday or both... preferably a lil later on friday (my gf is coming up), anytime saturday.

Yesterday after class me and a friend were kicking around a sandman... I managed to hit hopover swirl 2x, a couple nice short guiltless stings, some good duck/dive strings, and I almost hit E-walk.... all in my work boots and pants.

aric you never cease. I'm good for a session this weekend. Hopefully I won't repeat today's solo session (20 minutes of pouring sweat and a terrible attempt at flipside whirls). But I think my illness will be gone by the time the weekend rolls in.

In Toronto... I was supposed to play with Camille yesterday, but no dice. Hopefully tonight. The weather was nice enough at my hosts' house that I could play outside. I did lots of drills. I had at least 10 ducking clippers with good, consistent form, which is pretty good for me. I did some dives as well. ClimaCools have proven themselves to be too frustrating for me, at least for the time being. After a month of not really playing, I'm not sharp enough or strong enough to be relearning my style right now. maybe this spring I'll give them another try. It's too bad, because the weight, material, and comfort are all superior to lavers, far and away, but the shape is so unworkable. we need some kind of unholy alliance between the climas and the lavers. They're both made by adidas, I'm sure we could work something out.

My best friend from high school called me at 3 AM today to tell me that one of my favorite authors of all time killed himself with a gunshot wound to the head. Hunter S Thompson is no longer of this world. I'm not too troubled by it, myself. maybe a bit more and more so as the morning goes on, but as I've been saying, drugs nor life nor man nor reason could kill him, so it's only fitting that this man who did everything his own way would have to die his own way. I'm glad that someone who was so disgusted with Nixon and the political climate of the 60s got to see how much further the depth of degradation and evil has plunged in this modern day.

watch out for your blogs, folks... if you don't post in it for two days, it gets pushed into the no man's land of page 2.

Matt I am bummed about your shoe blues.

I find it so strange that you don't want to fill in the gap more than you have. Right now it is not much different than it was to begin with.

It's a shame that they are not working out for you.

I am not a big fan of the angles on that shoe, my new climas are alot more up my alley however.

I hope you find a shoe that works out for you soon.

Man all this talk of new shoes. Lavers work well for me so I don't think I'll be seriously looking to change but I want to see what those climacool originals look like. I've only seen them on videos and even then I really don't know if those were them. They weren't lavers.

Oh well. Whatever floats your boat. Rodney Laver still rocks my world.

If they came out with a crossbreed of lavers and climacools, I would switch without a seconds thought. Surfaces of lavers with the weight, material, and support of climas... ohh so nice.

I tried both Mosher's and Matt's climas, I really really like the way they both fit on my feet and the support is just so nice. I had a lot of problems with Matt's, the insides weren't that bad, but the toe area was awful. Mosher's toe area was much better, but still lacked... and I had quite a few problems with the insides.

And a post about the last session:

Strings started good hit a few nice tricks.
Best string:
sidewalk > ripwalk > sidewalk > ripwalk > pdx mirage > dimwalk > blur >dimwalk > blur > parkwalk > stepping mirage > parkwalk > stepping mirage > smear > pixie ss mirage > smear > pixie ss mirage > tripwalk attempt but was too tired to clear the set.

Finally hit riptide... but didn't seal it, just missed the hand catch, very close to hitting fog and haze.

I can sail in my socks very consistently, hit pixie tap > smog, dominatrix, flip pixie tap

Almost hit a new set, don't think anyone has hit it yet. Will post about it after i get a few more attempts at it today or wednesday.

Played with Camille Surovy and Bill something or other tonight. we hit some tricks. I did my best flip ripstein ever. I was walking back from the bathroom and saw this guy walking towards me but looking to the side at camille and bill. he said to his friend "it's professional hacky sack, but I don't see why they have to be naked" and just as he finished the word naked, he turned and made eye contact with shirtless and short shorted me, and we were so close, that I just had time to smile and say "me neither, man, it's a mystery". we played for a while, then I drove Bill home, then I drove back here. now, here I am. it's been an awesome few days. I'm picking up Tom on Thursday somewhere in TO (maybe he'll be kind enough to come out and hang on Wednesday night) and we're driving back to kingston for the day. i'll go home to roch on friday morning. wish me luck on my gig in Corning, everyone.

I call a spot in your car Matt! Nice job on the symp flurry, you should try for symp fury!!

Brought my friend John his new lavers and taught him how to cut them up. Then we played for a lil while, and he's been practicing a lot! He has really good alternating toe stals, mirage, pixe, clipper, and butterfly on both sides, and ATW and ss legover on one side. He also has a good pixie set on his strong side...

I didn't play too much, strings were off, managed to hit whirling swirl, which I haven't hit since this past summer. Probably going to try kicking a lil later today.

Matt, do you have TJ's paypal address? Or if not do you know what his username on modified is?

... and so we kicked. Blistering set is hard... just read that kenny hit whirling gyro whirl (blistering whirl) YEARS ago... I want to hit that. I love that some super technical stuff that would feel and sound so fresh these days has been hit years ago... swirling symp whirling swirl by rippin'... that's got to be one of my all time favorites, I'd love to see that on film.

what else. Chris hit a cool sick 3 on film, I'll host it when I get home from work today. I'm also going to call a local teacher I know to set up a demo with is afterschool program. He seemed really psyched about it. He's a really energetic guy, very into his job and having interesting things for his group. I don't know why I've put off calling him, I'm really bad about that kinda stuff... and I'm off topic. again.

I wasn't playing too well, I haven't been in general lately. My strings might go a little longer once in a while, but I'm not feeling as strong as I was a few months ago. Chris was playing REALLY well, his style just keeps getting tighter and tighter. He throws fume in midstring like nothing... I almost NEVER see that trick. Really easy nook-yah-lur sets thrown in all over the place.

So, Toronto was awesome. I had a great time, felt so welcomed, both by my hosts and the footbag community in the area. Everyone was really psyched to freestyle and hang out and party and just live the footbag lifestyle. I'm thinking of moving to the area, not like I'm doing much here... I've got such a good connection in the area. I dunno, it's in my hands, we'll see what comes of it. Just gotta get that citizenship, fill out some college applications... Fun fun fun... Canada's better for me in general. Just a better fit...

my spins and ducks are coming in a little more, but only on the most basic stuff. Gyro still eludes me. Well, not eludes... teases. it says, you can do me, you can do me, but you just don't get me. you've hit mobius, but as satisfying as it is, it's flukey. Still off balance... work to do, boy...

reminds me of this woman I know...

So who wants to come to the Greater Rochester Area Shred Session? I'm going to start talking to Tom to get some guidance on how to run one's first event and get started on this stuff. It's going to be the east coast event of the season, and I'm hoping that, with all the freestylers in the area, we won't have to have a host hotel, we can just have everyone crash... as far as I know, there aren't any nice cheap hostels in the area like TO. but at least my house is a little less sketchy than that place. Anyway, post in my blog here if you want to come so I get all psyched and start to get stuff taken care of.

aaaaaaaaaaaand that's enough. maybe I'll have more to say later. this thing is great for work...
