http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/drawin ... loseup.jpg (better)
This is that drawing I made for Marita for Valentines Day. I didn't have my computer fixed by the time I sent it in the mail, so I took crappy pictures with my camcorder. The link is better quality, but it was two seperate pictures that I pasted together as a screenshot, because I still don't have all my apps reinstalled since my reformatting. I think this was my real first pencilcrayon drawing, and I'm super happy with it -- it was really fun to do, too!
Here's another sketch I did a long while ago, http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/drawin ... etch02.jpg -- that didn't come out well on the scanner, I don't remember why.
Oh, here's another: http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/drawin ... resize.jpg

I went to university today to take photos with my brother. I used some black and white film that he rolled and he is going to show me how to develop and all that jazz tomorrow evening (he is president of the photo club). I hadn't taken photos since the summer and I felt really out of it. But then I saw this RAD sink up in the rafters of the art barn and I starting snapping! I think a lot of my pictures will turn out well. If so I have another roll somewhere I will take some colour shots of. I also tried out the telephoto lense for the first time, I think. I didn't like it much. I will scan some pictures when I've developed.

Oh yeah, so then we were riding back on the bus and I started making notes for the Hackrifice tournament. I talked to Andrew briefly on MSN last night and said I thought it would be rad to start planning Hackrifice 2005 (7th annual?) but he thought it was way too early. I guess it is, but I started making a list of stuff we need to do anyway, here it is in it's raw, unexpended form:
-date (mid sept? -- I was thinking another date may be better -- maybe a week before school starts...We'll figure that out and ask possible attendees)
-prizes (videos/cash from demos/donated prizes? -- bags/videos? -- we had videos and bags the last couple years, donated from Freedom, I think???)
-flyers (design/distribute/promote event on internet)
-floor space/host hotel (avoid hotel -- get as many people as possible in our houses!! -- ask Andrew and Derek and Joel if they can host -- find out how many people are planning to attend from out of town)
-compile list of confirmed/possible attendees
-sponsors (local/other footbag companies/clubs/people??)
-tshirts (design/ACTUAL distribution -- remember to bug Joel about getting last years tshirts out!!!!!)
-entry fee? (like GLASS!! $3 enter draw/$5 +event/$15 +tshirt -- or something)
-the end (so far)

Ummm. Oh yeah, and I am completely obsessed with Morrowind again! I am also completely obsessed with Harry Potter, although I stopped reading because I have some book for english to read by next week. I started playing again, though, because I love Harry Potter so much and I wanted to play a fantasy game and pretend I was a character from the book. I am "Albus Dumbledore". I am an Auror (custom class). I have never played a magical character in a game before -- it's HARD! I keep running out of magicka and health. Oh yeah, and I made some spells -- "Fawkes' Fury" (fire touch) and "Fawkes' Sorrow" (heal self) -- I'd never really made spells before, either. It's hard to get everything right and end up with a decent magicka-cost and chance-of-cast. i was really happy with the name of my spell! Fawkes is Professor Dumbledore's phoenix. I don't know if he was an Auror, but Mad-Eye Moody from #4 was sooooo cool I had to pretend!!

The end.
Gilmore Girls tonight! (last episode was soooo good!)

I made 4.5 dozen chocolate peanutbutter cookies today. Yum.

I picked up my Hibbs bag for the first time, in, like, almost 2 months and decided to do a few clippers. I was going to get out my Lavers, but decided I may as well just do a couple in barefeet, since I'm in barefeet and all. So I did same clipper > osis [repeat] a few times and I was, like, "Wow, this feels so great!" and I tried and hit blender first try in barefeet :D That felt SO cool! I felt like Yves (I've been watching The Move a lot lately....) I tried flip a couple times, but didn't want to push 'cause whirl is the motion that hurts my messed up hip flexor. BLAH.
Anyway, I just tried those few moves while just before I was going to stretch. I haven't been stretching. You TOTALLY lose ALL motivation when you've been injured this long :( But after watching that breakdancing video in the kicking circle I felt like I REALLY wanted to get better and get my body really healthy so I can do amazing things too!!! (That video was super cool!) So I am going to stretch now and watch The Move. Then I will bath and hopefully Marita will call. I really want to talk to her.
I also need to clip my fingernails and shave.

I went to get a new birth certificate today, because I can't find mine and I need it for something. I ended up reading my book for english while I walked home -- it was super fun. It's SOOOO cold out today and I felt really eccentric -- I think I will read while I walk more often.

Oh, my photos didn't turn out very well from the other day, I don't think. I did a proof page of all my negatives, so they're all thumbnails and none of them really struck me -- maybe just because they were small, or because they were black and white. I'm going to try something, though. I'm going to try to scan the negatives, positive them, and enlarge and see if I can just "develop" straight to my computer... Does that sound silly? I'm not too familiar with the actual development and stuff, I did my own proof print last night, though. That was really fun. I also bought 50 timbits, and didn't realize they came in 40. I asked for 50 and the woman was, like, "How many?" and then my little donut box was all bulging open. We felt really silly after that, because we were sure 50 came after 20.

"and then my little donut box was all bulging open" Hahaha. I giggled a lot at that. It sounds so cute, but also like it could be another way of saying something....or silly code.

I think if that idea with developing them on your computer can work that could look really unique and cool. you could also try doing something artsy with projecting it onto some sort of light sensitive material (like photopaper or whatever it's called). the negetive I mean. and then you would have an enlarged negetive with all the light parts looking really dark and stuff. it could look cool for the pictures that didn't turn out that well.

Here are a few random footbag-related things that occupy my days:

most popular search results that led users to hackrifice.com (remember when ken somolinos was the #1 search result?...)

Plus, today I made slips for DVD covers for my DVD. If I go out and buy enough, and if I convince myself they aren't too expensive I want to start using those nice plastic cases for my DVDs, instead of the poor little cases I gave out so far. So I printed a nice cover, mostly just for my own copy, and here it is:

Making DVDs is soooo fun. I feel really dumb now, though, after talking to Eli, because his videos are so amazing and he has such nice equipment that I don't really feel worthy to put my videos on a DVD. I was so inspired by Eli's latest videos -- so amazing!!!!!!! Eli's awesome (and so is Nick Laroche!! GEE!)

Total playing time on the DVD is 60:51, so if you haven't quite watched that much, and you thought you watched everything, look around @__________@

EDIT: I hit tap with a potato a few days ago. Giggle giggle giggle.
ANOTHER EDIT: I drew on my wall last night (I haven't slept, but i am going to take a nap now!) and made a video like in those old daytime-TV painting shows!! http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/050226-drawing.wmv

Hey thanks guys!! I love getting comments in my blog!! I just checked and there were 3 new ones!!!! WOW! J-Dub are you Josh? Thanks about the video you guys -- I have been drawing SOOOOOO much lately -- maybe I will take pictures of my stuff. It's all, like, portraits and crap, though, because I have lost the ability to draw from my head. I need to get that back.

Camille -- Marita is SUPER busy with school, but I bet she would LOVE if you called her up. Maybe she could make time to jam for a bit on the weekend or something :) She will have just finished two big tests after tomorrow, so maybe she will have less work to do. Do you have her number?

I've been meaning to fill up my "drawing wall" for ages -- I painted over it YEARS ago because it was super crappy, but it's all white and fresh and waiting to be drawn on and I'm itching to draw on it. Maybe I will make another drawing video with, like, multi-angles and cool things :D I am working on a drawing that involves a laver and some footbags -- i had never ever drawn a shoe with so much attention to the laces, and how they actually flow, before. I'm going to colour it all crazy-like with pencil-crayons, so that should be fun. I keep skipping classes -- I'm bad.

PS: There's a 160-year-old man in Hawaii!!!

EDIT: I'm kind of really bored and uninspired/disappointed with Hackrifice (just the website -- although I'm sure the club is suffering too :() -- what should I do with it?? I want ro redesign completely, I think. I don't know if I am creative enough, though. Maybe I will sketch something tomorrow in my optional attendance studio (soooo tired and still on Modified...skipped school 2 days in a row...must....wake up.....in....morning...)

Hey Josh
Naw. I haven't really talked to anyone in ages :(
Do you guys all still play? I heard Andrew has food poisoning and I haven't heard from or seen Derek for, like, 3 months?? I called today to make another doctor's appointment at PanAm, but the doctor I saw is going on holidays and is booked until then! Eric Windsor told me to just not play and not think about playing, so...maybe that will help. I don't know. JEEZ!
No, I didn't hear about Jessica's drifter attempt -- do you guys jam often? What are you hitting now? How's the flip pixie coming?

Hey! Andrew keeps me motivated. Although he is quitting the forum I believe. We have played the last 3 days in a row. Two days ago we played outside (b4 the shitty snow). Its like a whole different game outside. I was loving it. Jessica tired a drifter and bailed so hard. She fractured her ankle  . That was about a week ago. She showed up to play yesterday at the Uni with some crazy assed robotic leg brace. OMG the crazy bitch plays in it!!! I told her she was really going to hurt herself if she kept it up. She insists it will make her flipside strong. My flip pixie is coming along well, I'm trying to learn atomic with is painfully slow. one good thing to report is that I finally turned that stupid clipper to far legover into a reaper!! Woo Hoo

Andrew leaves for JPN soon. If your up 2 it, Pm me to play.

I am the opposite. The forum is all I have now, because I can't play :(
Nice on the atomic, Josh. Remember both sides! Remember when you hit nuclear same clipper at that one session? That was so sweet! It's in one of those videos I made. Nuclear is fun! I don't think anything is as fun as bothsided pixie though!!
When does Andrew leave? I haven't talked to him in ages. I need to send something with him for Ken.

You have lots of time, he doesn't leave till the end of next month I believe. I'm playing lots, the growth is infectious. (eww) Andrew came phreakishly close to nemisis(sp?) I can't understand your luck with PanAm. I hope you get better soon. Playing videogames is a good passtime though. If you like Morrowind, you should rent Fable for Xbox. Or just keep drawing cause your crazy at it. Or come out and film 8)

Andrew leaves on the 27th of April, or right around then. Oh, and if the thing you are talking about is tall, green, and conniferous, then he may have problems getting it through customs. But if you meant something else, then nevermind. And thank you so much! Let me know when you give it to him. Take care of your body Erik.

HA! You know my Christmas tree is still up!!! I swear! We still have a little santa in the chandelier in the dining room too. And there's that wirey green coniferous tinsel-like stuff in the kitchen.

Yeah, I called Andrew a few days ago and he told me he doesn't leave 'til, like, the end of April, so I'm good. Yesterday I worked on a bunch of stuff I'm going to mail to footbag people. I made something for Ken too, but haven't made the rest of the stuff yet.

You've played Morrowind, Josh? It's amazing. I slept in and missed classes on Thursday and all I did on Thursday was play Morrowind. It's awesome. I'm going to draw a lot of Morrowind fanart soon. I've played Fable. I didn't like it TOO much. Morrowind is sooooo open. What I liked most about Fable were the haircuts that affect your disposition. That was fun. And flirting. I had a wife and a house with trophies on the wall. I played Fable for two days straight and then stopped and when I got my computer fixed and started my new Morrowind character I couldn't be dragged away.

I revamped my "personal"/drawing website today. I moved it to http://chan.hackrifice.com . I don't really have any new drawings yet, but I also did some sketches today for a comic I'm doing with Marita. I will work on those more tomorrow. Our characters names are "Flower Cupboard" and "Pixie Champagne". I also took some photos for the different sections, which I like a lot! There are three, one for profile, one for passion and one for cam. I didn't really like the profile picture, but Marita likes it so I dislike it less now. I think I will take a picture of my hand holding a pencil or paintbrush, too, for the illustration section. Yay! So fun. I'm going to draw lots now.
