Aggresive Styles
I really can't believe this.
People are saying that those players, who I think have the smoothest and calmest style ever, would have aggressive styles.
This really is an opinion matter.
I think that Juho Marjo and Ryan Mulroney have very calm styles, and so does Ales Zelinka.
Aggressive styles... Sunil Jani, Dave Holton --- the list goes on and on.

maybe one should differentiate between 'aggressive' and 'explosive/fast'.
However, Penske's Blazing Barfly on flipsider, as massive as it is,
shouldn't be there. The barfly is double-'the'. (I can imagine he has hit
it clean though)

Being smooth doesn't make a player unagressive! It makes them the best!
The defining quality of Mulroney's shred (for me) is his huge strings of consecutive symp. moves. Crazy stuff like PS whirl > PS whirl > Symp Bubba (a way underdone move!) > backside smear > dolomite. I've no idea weather he's hit that exact combo, but I'm sure you could all imagine him doing something like it.
Consecutive moves demanding big ass jumps. Seems agressive to me!

hm aggressive and fast are two different things
In my opinion the prototype of agressive is ..................... PINKUS!!!!
followed by Sunil and Sebastian Duchesne is also an agressive player.
Ales is more smooth for me.
Ryan is hard to judge - watching him on stringing on a freestyle vid is very aggresive to me but watching one of his routine is such with good control and rhythm that there is no agsression in it.

Good. I'm glad someone else is on my wavelength.ana_ali wrote:I really can't believe this.

When I think of aggressive players - I think of attacking players - players who attack the bag and play hard with big add counts and moves - lots of dexing and symposium stuff. Obviously there are players like Ricky Moran who doesn't play very aggressivly a lot of the time but then hits some runs that are super aggressive.
Ryan is definitly in my opinion an aggressive player - I don't think the word agressive implies how smooth the player is in what they're hitting - but in how much they attack the bag and how hard they go.
I would say that early footage of Ales is very aggressive and sometimes he still plays like that - but most of the time he's more held back.
Penske is definitly an aggresive player.
I would probably say that my game is pretty aggressive as well despite Dan mentioning it and then retracting it.
I don't think Kenny Shults is agressive at all.

Vasek is pretty smooth.. he hits hard stuff, and sometimes he hits so many triple dexes or barraging moves in a row you'd think he would be aggressive, but there is a flow that he has which shows how smooth every move just flows into another one.
Like a continuous movement of move-to-move, as opposed to doing a move fast > stop > next fast move, which is aggresive IMO.

I think Vasek and Ales sometimes shred agressivly and sometimes don't - I guess the same goes for everybody. Definitly there are some runs of Vasek that are very aggressive. I was watching some raw footage from worlds just recently and Vasek hits one run of about 20 - 30 contacts with about 8 sixes all midstring - and the entire run is tripless (mainly ripwalks out of everything) - to me that looks like a really agressive run. Same with trying combos like double blender>barroque repeat - but then he also hits lots of not so agressive runs.
Vasek also makes lots of things look easy - so he has to be really hitting hard combos to look agressive.

I think that player is agressive when he is attacking the bag hard, and jump into tricks ....
Anssi: I think about Juho as an agresive player, because he jumps into butterflies and other stuf, and that look pretty agressive...

I don't think you can break down someone's style based on certain moves, obviously certain moves can't be hit without having some power and agression going into the move.
When I think of aggressive styles I see shuffle runs with really tight, small windows. Each move is executed quickly, and as the bag touches your foot its on its way back up into another move.
Smooth styles with periods of aggressiveness, Ryan M., Vasek K., Derek V.
Always smooth, Greg Nelson
Agressive shuffle = Sunil Jani
