Byrin: I don't know if I will be able to make it out there. It is so far, and am already way in debt for going to CSS this year. If the opportunity presented itself in then next while I would go. I'd really like to meet you and shred it up.

Ok, so yesterday I started to try inspinning. And I hit inspinning clipper bs several times, and I also was able to throw some combos with it.

Like spinning clipper>inspinning clipper bs
and spin clip>inspin clip>spin clip>inspin(drop) almost... GRR!
Also had some shuffle moves to inspin. YAY inspinning is fun!

Oh yeah, and for the first time I hit stepping ss whirl. Then I tried it on flip side and I nailed it first try. Wahoo!

Oh yeah and I wanted to hit toe blur for the first time, so for some reason I put a blur in front of it and then bam... blur>toe blur. haha that was fun.

There were probably some cool strings too, but I am really excited that I keep hitting new things every session.

I get to have another kick ass session today. I am pretty stoked about it, but I have to get through this day at work first

Lets see... what will I work on. I think I will try to work inspinning more, and then try for a new 5 which would be inspinning butterfly. I definitely have some good insight into how efficient inspinning works because nate can throw it like nerf football. Now its just a matter of explaining that to my body. I'm gonna try more p drifters and p dlos followed up with more practice on fogs and blurry drifters. I've started to realize how easy those moves truly are as long as you have the timing and control. They don't take much power or speed which is quite contrary to what I thought before. Oh yeah paradox torques. I would love to hit that move bsos soon. Maybe some more quantum work today is in order as well.

Ok back to the drudgery of work. Reality bites, but only for 5 1/2 more
hours.

Oh yeah, I didn't want to clog up yax's blog with this but I laughed my ass off at his last post.

Yesterday went pretty well. I was pretty wiped out from not eating very much in the day, but it was pretty awesome anyhow. I worked on inspinning clippers a bunch and had a couple runs with inspinning clipper bsos. That is so fun! I also hit a new 5 which was inspinning butterfly, so I'm stoked about that. Then I realized that I could toe spin, so I hit toe spinning clipper and toe spinning butterfly. Toe spinning is fun. I hit a few combos in some runs with it like dlo>toe spinning clip, smear>plo>plo>toe spinning clip. But my favorite was ripwalk>spinning ss clip>spinning clip>merkon>toe spinning clip>run. Toe spinning makes me feel happy

I also hit some paradox torques, but not well enough to seal them. Bsos was a joke, but I'll just keep working them until they come.
Tried drifter>p drifter [repeat] but with no luck. I have gotten through 3/4 of it.

Oh yeah I almost forgot! I had a vortex sealed on front and back with a run. Oh man it felt so good because I don't think I have ever just layed down a vortex like that.

Bit of a tired stressful day at work, managed to squeeze out a few new things.

inspinning clipper and toe spinning clipper in the same run.
spinning osis>inspinning clipper
pixie clipper>vortex
really freakin close to matador>ps whirl
fog>dimwalk.

Worked on ptorques a whole bunch. I cannot seal them to anything but hand catch for the life of me. Sealed one to clipper. I should at least try to sneak an osis or something instead of a hand catch.

I saw nate hit reverse butterfly swirl. I thought that was really cool. He hit a ton of other crazy shit too. He spanks me and sends me home crying to mommy every day, but it is sooo fun to kick with him anyway.

Alright I'm outty 5000.

hey james, just wanted to thank you for your words of support in my attempt to quit smoking. i know you have done it and any tips you have to help fight off the cravings would be much appreciated.

Godd question. I'm not sure either. I've been telling myself inspinning osis is a 5 ever since I wrote that I thought it WASN'T a 5 than Allan H said he thought it was a 5. I'm not sure about inspinning butter though, hard to argue an x-spin in that one. If you saw James do inspinnning butter you'd think it was a 5 too.

Don't ask me, I thought inspin always received the xspin add. If it doesn't then the next time I hit that move I'll make sure I bitch slap nate before I hit the butterfly. It will recieve the extra bitch slap add sucka

Andrew, the best advice I can give is to stay away from cigarettes for at least two weeks. It will get a whole hell of a lot easier after that. Basically the first week is hell and when you are more than likely to snap. You really have to get your mind into controling your thoughts during that. If you start thinking about cigarettes then try to think about something else and take a walk. Or it could be that you are hungry, so have a small snack. It sounds like you may be a bit past that though, so it all comes down to realizing that if you have even one cigarette then all your hard work could be tossed down the drain. When you think about that it is pretty hard to have that cigarette, especially when you put it into perspective about how difficult it was that first week not to have one, compared to how easy it is not to have one now. After two weeks it gets pretty damn easy, and after a month or two you are not sure how you even smoked before because your mindset is totally different. Good luck and don't crack!

The way I stop myself from smoking is to spend all my $$$, then you can't have a ciggarette

But seriously, the way I do it is I'm cutting down slowly. I used to smoke a pack a day, and I couldn't afford it. Try to separate from everything that reminds you or is tied to you smoking, and trust me, its hard. Take a break from some friends that smoke heavily in my situatation. I don't even think of smoking usually unless I see someone I know that has one, or somebody actually smoking.

It's tough to do, but with time and some effort, its starts to get easier like James said. I can't remember that last time I had a ciggarette, and I don't care!

Had a fun session today, legs hurt way too much though so we kept it short plus it rained on us like crazy. Aaron is back so that is awesome, he looks like a huge super buff marine dude playing footbag. Its awesome. Got to see lots of pictures from iraq and other places. He has this completely bad ass laptop and we watched some shred vids on it and stuff. Glad hes back for a while, I really missed that dude. Man his atomic and nuclear shit is just awesome. Infact he shredded really well now that I think about it.

I had kind of a lame day due to being tired and knowing I had to work right after. Aaron was trying sailing set, and I said "I'll show you mine but mine look really separated and like I'm giving birth." So I hit Sailing butterfly first try and they said it looked really good and not separated. Hope so, because I would like to throw that a bit, its not too hard. Also hit parkwalk>gyro dlo at the beginning of a run. That was cool, because the combo was pretty smooth and went unnoticed by Nate :} He hates if I don't see his combos

Oh yeah I hit a new 5>5 today, matador>paradox torque. Nate hit a new 5>5>5 today that he posted in the new fearless combos thread.

Fun day, can't wait for me and nate to shred with aaron when we are not so tired.

So last night while playing mario kart my damn 520s ripped along the sole. I was kind of perching on the ground and then I hear this rrrripp. God I was so pissed because I don't have any other shoes. And when I say they ripped I mean unsew-ably ripped. Unless I had a needle strong enough to somehow sew the canvas to the sole. It had been slightly ripping before from shredding, but I never thought that shit would happen. I tried to walk around in them and the ball of my foot practically falls out of one side. Way unsafe. Awesome with CSS right around the corner.

So my friend comes up with this idea to glue some canvas under the insole and have it come up the side where it ripped. So I go home and go to work. I cut up some jeans that I had for the canvas, and used a razor blade to cut one side like the insole and left the other side long. Then I layed down a shitload of shoe goo and put the canvas in the sole. Let it dry a bit and then shoe gooed the ripped canvas to the newly layed jeans canvas. Then I sewed that bastard up. I think that it is actually going to work, but I am still letting the shoe goo dry for a bit. They will at least last through CSS I think. I can't beleive my friend came up with that idea, because he knows nothing about sewing or modifying shoes. What a pimp.

CSS6 POST!

Ok, so where do I begin, so much craziness happened over this weekend. Might as well start from the beginning. Nate and I met up with aaron orton at the eugene airport and had a few beers and began our flight to denver. I was soooo excited because I never fly and CSS6 is probably the biggest tourney I have been to. SO we get off at denver and I see James Randall just chillin in some shorts. We were waiting for Brad K to come pick us up, so I hit the bathroom and when I return I find Jim Penske and Brad K and others waiting. First thing penske says to me is that he sprained his ankle really badly and he won't be competing... (haha he still competed!) So anyway, off to the hotel.

We had to cram slim jim penske into the back of brad's wife's SUV and make the suprisingly long car ride all stuffed together. When we got there we went up to shred right away. I got my shorts on and the first dude I see busting is none other than steven barnes. The kid is like 14 btw. Holy shit I was blown away by his style. He looks like felix when he plays, and he has only been at it less than two years. Then I see chris holden, and he is representing! I was so glad to see chris busting hard, he seemed so excited about footbag too, such fun! Then I see this kid Luis. not sure of his last name, but omfg this kid is lon #2. This was his first tournament, but he has been playing for 4 years. The dude could hit any shit you wanted on command. First few runs of him I saw him bust grifter bsos, and just mad spin moves. The dude inspins like lon, and executes basically everything, including his illusions like lon. So crazy. You'll see when I put some video out. He competed intermediate... go figure.

Alright, so lots of partying went down well into the evening. I'm sure you can all guess at the awesome times had. Thanks to Mike Hansen for the apple. You the man.

The next day we hit up the hot tub and pool, and head off to the venue. None other than Lauren Bahm(sp?) and his crazy friend evan show up. Everyone is kicking outside because it is warm as hell, and oh man I just have to say that Lauren might possibly have the lowest footage online of any player at his skill level. Lauren is the goddamn man, maybe most of you already knew that, but this guy is just sick.... I think I got some of his crazy talent on film, but certainly not enough. His friend Evan has been playing for 16 months and can string it up like crazy and hit some HUGE moves. Like montage on command. And you should see this kids whirling cross body rakes. Actually he has it all. His sick trick was freaking zoid set ducking symp whirl. Jim did really well in comps and shredded quite a bit. I can't believe he can play that well on a sprained ankle.

In my opinion this kid Evan, and Steven Barnes are the next big american freestylers. Give em a year or two and they will be on top.

Ok so that night I got all drunk off of rum and other and went to the players party and tried to relax. Took forever to find the players party, but we finally did. Just in time to see rick reese, that was badass. They had pizza there and James Randall and Steven Barnes were doing trials in the bar... Haha that was awesome. I only remember fragments though. Unfortunately I need to skip over some parts now because I was too dazed. Which brings us back to the hotel where we were all hacking. Fucking huge hack circle and we were getting plenty of hacks. I think we even got a hack with everyone trying ripwalk or something equivalent. I think penskes equivalent was superfly. haha. Chris holden was sending sets my way and we tried forever with him sending me a nuke set and me butterflying, but all we could manage was a co-op dimwalk. That was cool. We did do some sweet james clipper set ducking>holden clipper diving set>james spinning clipper set>hack That was fun. Chris is just an awesome guy to chill with. I just realized I have been leaving lon stories out of all of this, but lon is way too hard to capture with any kind of description. Or at least thats what I'll say since I am this far.

So next day we all hit up the venue way later. SOO much stuff was hit. I'll let the footage I put out soon speak for itself. I will definitely need a seperate lon video. Penske hit freakin paradox double grifter!!!!!!!!!! Its on film too, don't worry.

Ok, so after shredding and stuff we went back to the hotel. Nate aaron, James, and I were chilling in the room and then all but James randall headed down to play some hack in the halls. I then get the dreaded call from James that says......

"Dude you need to get the fuck up here now.... security just came in and we are getting kicked out of the hotel." I'm like yeah right thats bull shit, but he says get up here now man I'm not fucking around. So I go up there and talk to him and he says that security smelled some weird odor outside our room and that we need to get our shit and get out now. I'm like holy fuck where the hell is nate. I finally find nate playing hack, and he has no idea whats going on. I call randall again and he says dude security is up here again and they need to speak to all of us.... GAHH WTF! I distinctly remember other hotel rooms capable of emitting a much stronger odor than our room. I mean yeah right! So security is indeed waiting for us when nate and I get up there again and they say that we have to get all of our shit and leave the hotel and check out. They also added we better do it without hesitation or the police would be involved... bah. So they basically escort us out and jack even more money from us for cleaning the room. Now we have no where to stay for the night. After talking with a bunch of freestylers we decide that we should just hit up the damn airport for the night. UGGG.

SOOO we finally get a cab and we say take us to the airport(30 miles away). I'm a little more than slighty annoyed at the whole situation, but then I figure well at least we have a cab to the airport. The guy drives not more than a block and start to fall asleep. The guy is obviously fucking wasted and then starts swerving all over the road. He then stops at a red light, and when it turns green he is fucking passed out. Nate wakes him up and he keeps going. Then we pass a cop, and he is like ohh policia... and we say yeah so what, and the dude almost hits the cop, and then starts swerving around more. So then I am like man stop the car right now we want to get off here. He doesn't of course, so nate jumps in too and we are just like we want to get off right now, we will take another cab. It took this bastard forever to finally let us out, but once we did we payed him his 5 bucks and went out in search of another cab. We finally found one and hailed it. Turns out the cab driver was taking us the totally wrong way. Anywho, this guy was weird too, but at least sober. We finally got to the airport at like 1am. Long airport story short, randall kicked the whole time and we all waited up until our flights. Mine was at 11am. I still haven't had any sleep.

Hahah CSS was freaking amazing. Too all that didn't come, you missed out big time. I'll try to fill the shred details in some footage that we took. Might take me a week or so because I have to catch up on school work
