Ok im sick of waiting for the NYAA diary. I will start now....
....
....
....

Ah... basics. How many hours I can spend on them. Schooling and schooling. Getting nowhere. I am currently sucking at footbag. Ill explain abit about my footbag career...

I was first introduced to freestyle on the 5th Of December 2003. It was brakeup day and I met Dan (shrednie) Ednie at Flinderstreet station with a few ppl.

I was enjoying myself, i stayed there for an hour and said i would come and play the next day. I did so, buying my first proper footbag: a kirra sands bag.

I didnt really do much for the next month, the new year came. I didnt see dan and I barely played. Then I went to look for him with the MFC and I found him. He taught me more and a couple weeks later I bought some leather lavers.

The whole first year is a bit wierd. I dont know what happened when etc. But my best trick by the first of Jan 2005 was and still is Atom Smasher. Since that post drinking big add session in december 2004 when I hit Blizzard flip. Ripwalk Flip Blur and Atomsmasher I have been schooling basics in accordance with Chris Holdens fundamentals.

This is my footbag session:

30% insides and clippers - they are getting nowhere.
30% working up from the start of the fundamentals thing until butterflies and pdx mirages.
20% time working on spins. I love spins. I have hit spinning mirage but not gyro mirage.
20% runtime

I have not practised for some weeks but I am focused on getting good again and getting members for the Singapore Footbag Club.

I made this cool little routine to the popcorn song. I like it.

Tomorrow I am gonna shred my ass off.

I like footbag. But since I moved to Singapore around New years I have had noone to kick with. And I am very lonely. I want ppl to play with

I dont have much more to say. hmmm o yea I hit fairy swirl barefoot the other night and then on thursday I hit it in lavers at school.

I am ordering a fred T bag. It will be One more week until he has finished. I cannot wait.

I made A vid yesterday. It goes for roughly 4 minutes (abit more i think) and it goes through most of my basics, hopefully so people can correct my technique. I have a bonus move at the end. I just need to find a way of uploading it to the internet (its pretty big). so yea.

just trained

Post by Blue_turnip »

just had another lonely training session in the condo's gym. It was pretty good. I am starting to get better at stringing moves together. I was hitting mirage, pixie, repeat. That was fun. Just went through Holdens fundamentals up until like swirls and whirls but i left out a few such as symp mirages and dlo's.

I especially enjoy spins, they are fun. Doing fast runs where there are no toes makes me feel like vasek, and then I see a recording...

I really want to go to worlds next year. But my biggest problem at the moment are my clippers. Ive tried everything but my ankles just arent flat enough...

I am working on stuff like mirage, pixie, repeat. It is fun. I also got two new members for the SFC today. That was good. I lent my dirtbag to Otto, and Kai wen is going to some maths comp, i dont know where it is. I think it is KL. He said he wont have time to play while he is over there but today he was going toes consecutively and todays his first day. Im gonna make a proper SFC site as the other one sucked...

I find when I watch my vids that when I do my butterflies my footbag kinda travels with me, apart from this looking shit it is a lot harder to do like this. dan always told me to move a bit and move the bag a bit in the opposite direction when you do butterflies. I guess I need to work on this. I need to work on infinities, I have trouble with them.
My legovers are really quite good at the moment. I am drilling no hop legovers as that helps in my dex speed.

I havnt even touched on hard moves but I am working on drifters and torques. I can hit toe torques *ok* i mean my spin is probably 160 degrees which i really need to wrok on. I hit one flipside clip set torque. I am struggling with drifters. They are very difficult. I should work on them tonight.

I cant wait till my FT mini comes. Im so excited. I will start typing up a bit that I will paste into my NYAA diary when it comes. I will play for 1 hour tonight, it will be fun. My dad will come to the gym with me and I will go for a jog aswell.

I almost hit walkover to torque today (flipside). If anyone reads this and is good at drifters tell me as I have posted in the tricks section and still struggle. Im gonna go watch a vid from footbag.org showing me how...

I havnt touched on Atomic sets in a while... In fact I havent overly worked on sets that much.

Otto is a gun! he was doing all these consecutive kicks today, i was proud :)

I better get to homework soon.

I just realised two things about drifters as I studied the vid on footbag dot org (only one i could find).

There is a magic hop.

second (less important) a drifter is an infinity backwards :P

been a long time jon (hat tipped)

From now on I will post everything exactly as it goes into my NYAA diary, starting now:

Shred 1: Thurs 24th February 2005

Just got back from my kick. It was the best Ive had in a while. It was one hour of solid shredding. I worked through section 1-3 in Holdens fundamentals and left out only symposium mirages and DLOs (both section 3).

I started out with alot of clipper and Inside work aswell as kicking toes and insides. I worked heaps on legovers and mirages. I have used these drills to practise stringing them. For legovers I go: legover>ATW then repeat. I use a similar principle for my mirages: mirage>pixie then repeat.

I worked on illusions and pickups only a little bit.

As I got into section three I worked on butterflies and tried to do a few infinities (im finding it very difficult to do them at the moment). I did many osis's and I did them clip set, far, and toe set (i even tried toe same set). I spent a fair bit on them. At the end I did like two paradox mirages as I was running out of time, i had to get home. I managed to hit two drifters near the end which were both sides. I am very happy with these. I have spent along time trying to figure them out and then when I watched Carol in slowmotion I realised there was a magic hop - problems solved! I turn 90 degrees when I do drifters and although this looks worse than shifting to the side I find it helps build that hip strength for torques, which I, shockingly cant even do past 90 degrees sometimes. At the very end I did a few both sided whirls and a couple swirls.

I started to teach myself to juggle yesterday. This is coming along, I am starting to be able do at least 1 round of juggles relatively consistently. I will definitly have them down in the next couple weeks.

As I am going to france halfway through this year I might be able to fly to Helsinki for the worlds, but it seems pretty unlikely at the moment.

Shred 2: Sunday 30th February 2005
I played for 2 hours today. From 2 to 4. I played well. Worked on juggling. The feature of the session was that i met Johan, who is another potential member. I did some drifters. Hit one DLO. Yeah... I cant be bothered writing much today.

Shred 3: Monday 31st Feb 2005
I didnt really do much, I just kicked for half an hour waiting for Johan. He didnt turn up which really disappointed me...

Shred 4: Wednesday 2nd of March 2005
Today I had a really good shred. With the usual bag: a Kirra. I cant wait till I get my FT mini. Anyway... I, as usual worked through the Fundamentals, while stretching and doing abit of juggling. I am getting better with stringing moves together. I did the pixie>mirage> repeat drill very well. My mirages dont rake at all. I did a smear where it was like, the best. I also did a few infinities that are like ripwalks but you fake the stepping set. Those are fun. Worked a bit on ducks. I love clip set diving clip when Vasek does it... Yeah, thats about it.
