whats up all...i've been talking to people and they have asked me when i started play footbag, i tell them since the biginning of the summer, and i then think to myself, wow...not even 1 year under my belt and I'm hitting some sick tricks...i was just wondering how fast you guys progressed...since last summer i've hit...pheonix swirl, pixie diving whirl, mullet, pixie ducking DLO, and food processor...
Gravity is a suggestion, not a law.

I started in July. I hit Fairy ducking symp Mirage after 2 months, but I cought hit ATW on the flipside. Now I can hit: Fairy ducking Paradon, Janiwalk, Foodprocessor, but the best move on flipside is PS Whirl. You've hit pheonix swirl, pixie diving whirl, mullet, pixie ducking DLO, and food processor, but what can you hit on flipside

Vasek learned the BOPs within a few days. I know that Eric Windsor was guiltless within 6 months. James Risden made real fast progress in a year. People develop at different speeds. As long as you have fun with it, that`s cool.
By the way, its forum policy to have full name in your signature. Click on `profile` in the toolbar and change it. That way, when I meet you at Worlds, I`ll be like: `Joe Smith? Oh yeah, you`re that kid who hit phoenix swirl in less than a year, and makes really good chicken. Nice to meet you.` instead of just: `Nice to meet you.`

I try not to get all depressed about fast learners. I learned legovers, atw's, and mirages in about a month early last year. Then I stopped for a month and then began to really try. So I've been playing for almost a whole year and I'm still struggling with pixies.
My only hope is the news I recieved from a random post (can't remember who or when) but I heard that Lon Smith took three years to become guiltless. So my current mindset is what Ken said: I'm having fun and I'm progressing (slowly but surely) and this has been a great game for me to be a part of.

progression
It's not about how fast you progress it's about how many months in a row you practice without getting injured. I got really really good but had to quit just because I pushed a little too hard and now my knee is hurt forever.
Slow but steady wins the race.
More than half of the first 25 BAP members have hurt themselves badly from playing footbag.
Learn from their mistakes and play slow and even.
Do what is smooth and fun for you, don't worry about a move if you suck at it don't do it. Period.
If I wouldn't have worked so hard on mullet and fearless I could still play today.
Lon Smith
Don't worry Lon, you will be able to shred some time. You must take care on your knee. Ride bicycle, do some isometric exercises, and some stretching.
About progression:
I think that it's really important to track development. Start some training journal, where you'll write down everything you have hit, your consecutive tricks records, average lenght of strings these day, and everything youu noticed, shred session lenght and other.
After few months, and analysing everything you wrote, you will find when your progression was the fastest: how long sessions are good for you, and how oft you should practice, how do you should plan your sessions to get better effects, etc. etc....
Just find the way for yourself and remember that it's all about fun...

BOP refers to the three easiest 3-add moves - butterfly, osis, and paradox mirage.
