I can't believe that's a girl, most girls don't have that much speed and power in their styles. what good style!!! First time I saw it, on footbag.org, I thought it was a boy named Tina... I hope this is taken as a compliment, it's only meant to speak well for her style. I can't wait to see more!!!

That's EXACTLY what I thought. I've never seen a girl bust so intense! That was really reminiscent of Johnny (BAP Johnny...I forget his last name, 'cause I always think "Superman" when I think "Johnny".) SO bouncy and smooth! Okay...uptime symp whirl > whirling swirl ALONE is amazing!! Nevermind blurry whirl mid shuffle and all back-to-back!!! GEEZ. Props! I can't wait to see more! I am trying to access Shreditas to see that riptide video, because I never did, but Shreditas is downMatt Cross wrote:I can't believe that's a girl, most girls don't have that much speed and power in their styles. what good style!!! This is awesome! I remember seeing a video of Lise (?) recently too, and she was busting shuffle also!! This is awesome and revolutionary!
i hope this video shatters dominant concepts that women cant perform tasks (especially athletic ones) as good or better than most men.
The style, control, and magnitude of tinas shred isnt just amazing 'for a girl' (my interpretation of the tone and if this discussion); her shred is way better than MOST guys (myself include) and she deserves props not only for being a great female shredder (which is cool cause it can inspire/recuit an under-rep'd group and give us diversiy and therefore a make our sport develop more creatively) but she also deserves props for being a bomb shredder by any standard, regardless of the social constructs that divide us, like gender, class, race, etc.
Tinas shred is dope, but i wouldnt exactly its 'revolutionary'. Wedemeyer, Conlon, Burgoine, and many others have been pushing/developing the creativity of our sport for years. and they deserve their props for that too. we need to acknowledge and respect that our community has(had) a bunch of female shredders who REPRESENT, especially here on this forum because this is our sports most vibrant and open dialogue that i know of.
good ups Tina

oh yea, i forgot to add this to the 'critical' post above. i dont mean to sound 'holier than thou'. im also guilty of stereopying women and i probably discriminate against them in ways that im not aware of, but i try not to.

Tina will be happy about your comments and praise!
you can judge her improvement and check out last years swiss champs (her first tournament).

the run was a good run and lucky only in the sense that her sister had taken the camera down to film her practicing. otherwise you'd have had to wait until next swiss champs footage or footjam to see your first glimpse of her.
she's really going nuts at the moment. 100% dedicated and motivated, practicing almost every day. it's a pleasure to watch her improve every day and an even greater pleasure to be able to practice with her.
with her and manu the swiss scene and especially the sole-rebels have really struck gold. so much energy and inspiration!
with a little luck we'll be able to bring them along to worlds this year, but they'll definately be around at the FootJam.
