"Workout" Bags

I don't know if anyone has ever done this before but I recently cut a small whole in my Sand Master, drained the sand and filled it up with b-bs...like for a bb gun...and of course sewed it up. It's SO heavy! I haven't shredded with it much but I did it to maybe build up strength by using it. Maybe this is a flop idea or maybe a new tool for footbaggers. Your thoughts....

This has been done, in fact, people have made mostly lead filled bags despite the hazards.

There is sorta an upper limit to how much weight is adventageous and I think everyone draws their line in different places.

I know Ales uses tiny HEAVY bags whereas others like nice big floppy pellet bags.

It's all in preference I guess.

But you mean to use this heavy bag for "weightlifting", right?

I don't know if it's a good idea - don't know it's bad either though..
I play with heavy bags, but not beacuse I want to train muscles. Maybe it will put more, I don't know the english word, but "pressure" on, make it harder on, your knee. Maybe not - but that would be my concern.
It'll probably be good to train your inside-position-holding-stamina (?) but there are other ways too.

For ducks and Dives I don't know if it'll be good training with a harder bag - I think it more difficult setting straight with a light one...

But I don't know any of these things, it's just my thoughts!!!

So you want a heavy training hack?

How about the big one in the center. It's over 6 inches wide, and weighs over 3 pounds.

And its made out of aluminum. If I made it out of steel it would be more like 10-15 pounds.

Are you up for that much of a weight challenge?

muahaha

Later on we could also light it on fire and have some more fun.

wow i totally dig that fire hack. I ordered a fire hack from this canadian place but was disappointed by how it didn't last very long. Are you selling a special fire chain mail hack later on or can you do it with one of the current bags you are making?

No, I am afraid I cant. I showed it to my lawyer, to see what he thought, and he warned me that he would kick me in the nuts if I ever sold one of these.

So unfortunately it purely personal for now.

It is just one of the titanium hacky sacks that I make. I ordered some kevlar wicking. I made the hack a bit larger, and instead of more rings I filled it up with the wick. With proper care the wicking should last well over 200 burns.

Its because of the extreme sue-ability of these items that I cant sell them. Say some 10 yr old gets ahold of it and torches his house, I lose everything I have.

...damn lawyers...

I don't know how well this would work, I don't know how much a leg weighs but I'm guessing it's about 20 pounds for me or something like that and I'm pretty small. It seems like adding another pound on with the footbag wouldn't really make that big of a difference. Also, it feels like most of my muscle soreness from footbag comes from the jumping, bouncing, and foot changing, not from actually throwing the bag or whatever. Don't know though it could work.

Wow thats a cool fire hack. my friend and i ordered one a long time ago. but that was before we became shredders. we probably only burned it about 10 times before it busted open. we were pretty dissapointed with it

. what if you say gave me one of those bags and i uhh...sorta gave you money as a gift? hahah

I could always sell you the rings and the directions. And it would not be my fault if you decided to ignore them, and filled the hacky with a kevlar wick instead of more rings.

On that note, I will start selling kits in the next 2-3 weeks. So one will be able to make their own chain hacky, as large/small as they may want. Or any other cool chainmail item.

thats pretty cool, id like a smaller chain mail bag i always wanted one. is it really that hard to work with ? id really like to get in touch with u about makeing a golf ball sized one, maybe 40-60 grams.

Or perhaps you would be willing to make a trade of a chain bag for a hand stitched bag I make?

I want to use the Chain links as filler for the Crochet bags my grandma makes. Please contact me ASAP

Ahh yes, brian. I know him, he lives here in town. About a year ago we even toyed with the idea of working together. But he was all talk and no action. Whats he been up to lately, do you know? Does he have a website, or something similar?

Actually he was the reason I started making these hackys. He was not making very good ones, and he was charging wayyy too much for what they were. But enough of that, badmouthing him in order to make my stuff look better is not the right thing to do.

As for the links, how many would you need?

yo martin,
to sideskirt this issue why dont you make the hack as you normally would but sell it not advertised as a fire hack but a regular one and include a written whatever that says you should never light it on fire... I think that would leave you in the clear and the people who want a fire hack can put two and two together when they see one advertised as made of wick. Just an idea, i really want one.

Martin, i was wondering, do you recommend soaking your chainmail footbags in say..gasoline or lighter fluid, then lighting them, and kicking them around/shredding with them? i would sooo like to circle kick with my friends while its on fire

I reccomend nothing at all. I am not allowed to.

But, once you buy one from me you are welcome to use it in any way you want.

I just sell solid metal hacky sacks, I have no control over how its used. All I can say is that I am not liable for anything you do with it.

It's not hard to make the links yourself.

alright, i too am an experienced chainmaille maker (ive been making it for 5 years now, and general metalworking for 3) and there are very easy ways to make the links, if you'd like to learn more about it check out
