Going to New Zealand

Post by blackcrown »

I'll be flying to New Zealand on March 31 and coming back April 16. It would be super cool to get together with anybody there for some shred sessions. Also, if any of you New Zealanders have any tourist, travel suggestions, let me know. I will probably be hanging with family in Aukland a lot, but other than that I don't really have any plans.

When I try to get onto the New Zealand footbag site I keep getting a "forbidden" error. Anybody else have this problem? I use Firefox.

Thanks a lot,

Eric

1. E-mail Floyd Morgan about your log-on error. This happened to me once.... it has to do with bandwidth being exceeded due to too many Google hits or something, so the site reacted by banning certain ISPs. Just e-mail or pm floyd, and he will hook you up.

2. Everybody says South Island is beautiful, so if you have a chance, go down there.

3. In terms of freestyle scenes, I would say Wellington is your best bet, since Johnny Murphy is down there, and Liam Johnston lives nearby. They`re quite likely the two best shredders in New Zealand. Auckland you have Adrian, Damian and that crew, who still lay down some nice shit.

4. Tourism: The rose gardens in Wellington are quite nice... you take a cable car to get to them. There are also some cool museums in Auckland, right off Queen Street. Te Papa (national museum) in Wellington is also worth a visit. My favorite place that I visited in NZ was probably Waikowa Beach, and I hear the Coromandel is also beautiful.

Hey dude, if your interested in venturing to the south island, there are a couple of good players in chch and alot of keen kickers in dunedin. I'm in dunedin but would be happy to travel up to chch for a weekend to meet ya and have a good shred, trips to the north island would be out of budget for me im afraid though  but i'd love to meet ya.

I dont know much about NZ tourism, i just live here lol, but welly and auckland both have good shred scenes and chch and dunedin are where you would be heading in the south. :)

What are the logistics of going to Christchurch from Wellington? Do you have to take a plane? Or can I take a ferry to the south island? Thank's for the replys

you can ferry or aeroplane. ferry is cheaper but slower BUT also a nice ride i have heard. Both are pretty cheap around NZ$50-60 for the ferry (or the lynx which is flasher and faster lol) around NZ$100 for flight.

Got this off a travel agent site hahah its pretty cheesy!: The peace. The open spaces. The lush colours and rich textures of a city, where a leisurely pace still prevails, never fail to capture the imagination. Located on the East Coast of the South Island, Christchurch - just like the rest of New Zealand is a city of contrasts. A place where its residents continue to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle amidst a natural environment world-renowned for its beauty. Internationally famed "The Garden City", Christchurch's well-established expansive parks and public gardens owe much to the planning and foresight of the city's founding fathers. A growing cosmopolitan ambience also adds a touch of excitement without overt flashiness. Christchurch is the main international gateway to the South Island with a busy airport, thriving deep water port and comprehensive road and rail links - its centralised location makes it an ideal base. Everywhere there is an understated elegance that speaks of times gone by and promises a future where anything is possible. It really is the "City that shines".

Hope some of that helped!!

Auckland all the way, I will be down at Wellington between the 27th March to the 3rd of April, and when I get back, I will be up for a good shred. Do you know where you will be staying in Auckland?

My folks live in Beach Haven. My brother has place in Auckland as well, but I'm not exactly sure where.

Yeah its not a bad place, sure. But like in the city is so much better. The city is the place to go. Trust me. Huge centre to shred in, I am sure that if we can organise one up, I could like, me, tobias, james, garrett, scott, dylan, lewis, around 3 other drop outs, and the Auckland crew if they decide to turn up

2 or 3 hours at most. And then the next two days will be painful recovery.
