Oh and I forgot to mention that Vida has SUPER bomb ankles.

I don't know what the connection is yet but alot of great players have amazing ankles. Think about it, Penske, Risden, Cross and the most obvious, Klouda.

She can make a super flat inside/clipper surface already, she's so fortunate in that regard.

I have been watching the old RCS videos alot lately, I think I really want to play like Ricky Moran. Well.. not 'just like Ricky', I would would like to have more of his influence in my game.

I just had one of those 'soaked in sweat unable to stop trying' sessions and some good stuff came out!

I buckled down and wouldn't let myself give up until I hit diving clipper>ducking clipper repeat. I have a really weak diving clipper so I always started on that one, by the end they were like butter, I love doing that. I pumped my fist real hard when I finally got it, I think I let out a growl even too.

I love rakes!!
I neglected them entirely until a week or so ago and now I want to use them all over the place. I was drilling them tonight and I hit rake>op toe x alot which blew me away, until recently the thought of hitting *a* rake was pretty foreign. Using my newfound rakes I hit pixie rake both sides tonght.

Near the end I decided to try some reverse blazing/whirl stuff. I hit my first nice clean reverse symp whirls, they look and feel a whole lot like regular symp whirls sometimes. Obviously I couldn't resist going for them downtime and shortly after I hit pixie symp rev whirl both sides and with some effort fairy symp rev whirl both sides.

I drilled quantums a bit and hit quantum legover both sides then in a drill right after! I hit qlo>plo rpt which felt sick. I think plo>qlo rpt would look even cooler.

It was a pretty short session that I wasn't even planning on having but it wound up being really rewarding. I wasn't planning on playing but I felt guilty about having not played today much yesterday so I started doing a little titless in my room watching shred videos. (Henry's video got me pumped) Of course the tiltless fourplay led to full on hardcore sweaty shred all over my house. I was really glad to have taken the time to play a little, I have still played almost every day lately. So far, so good!

I am *so* bored of seeing all the big names shred.

90% of them are SO FUCKING BORING.

I know he's the 'best', but Vasek only ever does like.. four different moves.

The footbag world needs more creative thinkers like Jorden and Nick Laroche.

I liked James E's CSS video because it showed alot of different players, I like that style of video alot more.

I agree 100% with you Tom. There is too many boring players which are considered the best because they can hit 10+ fearles combo... but these combos are based on two tricks!

We nedd style, creativity, and the super flow! All vids of Vasek are boring after watching them few times, but this Jorden epic session vid isn't boring after watching it over 10 times! And same with Lon's 90+ combo and other stuff by him. Ricky Moran shred originally and creative too. Same Allan Hagget and few others.

Creavity and style ueber alles!

Do you sometimes have the feeling when watching a video that you alway know what will be the next trick?

how can you say klouda only does 4 tricks? he does so much more. i know uniqueness and stuff is good, but the sheer technical ability of "predictable" people like klouda overrides it. i like 10 fearless even if it is predictable. its harder then some weird rake trick.

Not to take away from Lon's run, but I think you are being a little overly critical of Vasek.

For example, Lon's run had something like:
42 BOPs
8 gyro clippers
7 spinning clippers
5 ducking clippers
4 spinning osises
That's like 2/3 of the run.

Yeah, dude, no one can hold a candle to Vasek. All of his runs are gushing with unique, really fucking hard moves, and he hits them consistently every time he gets the bag. His Shred 30's generally comprise of 31-32 completely unique moves. You need to look a lot closer if you think he's only doing the same moves in every string.

I don't get how you can say he gets boring, either. I have a whole folder of Vasek videos that I watch like every day, and I've put on Sick.03 just to watch the Vasek section(s) hundreds and hundreds of times. Everything he does is just so solid and beautiful.

And I agree with what Mike said. That really stood out when I watched that.

Stephen - you know. I know that Vasek is greate player and he can bust hard. But I saw every online video with Vasek and in only three there was some unique strings by him - two FFO vids and Sorcery (Stand Alone too, but it 's almost the same footage to Sorcery). In other vids there is everywhere the same shred, these same tricks, same links but only in different places and hit in different time. It's really boring for me now... Maybe I watched vids with Vasek too many times, and on one of them I just realized this because off too mutch watching.
I enjoy watching Jorden, Allan, Lon, Flash better than Vasek. This is my free mind and this is what I think.
I just think that Vasek isn't the ambassador of footbag freestyle. Actually we don't have an ambassador - maybe Jorden will be in few years...

Yeah Mike, but there were some cool Fairy, Toe Spinning tricks. Symp.Whirl, Flail and a few others. And all was done with some stylie links and super-nice flow.

I was sitting here at my computer and I realized that I had not yet used the power of VLC Media Player to enable me to finally watch Vasek - raw. I have had it on my computer since it first came out but I had never seen it because I never had the right codecs.

I take EVERYTHING back!!

Vasek is fucking incredible!!!!

So creative and stylish and varied and amazing!

And also, I think a ways back in my blog I said I thought his beatboxing was bad, I don't even know what I was talking about. I have since heard more and re-seen the old stuff I saw before and I am impressed again. He's so talented at life.

Also, I shouldn't be so judgemental and quick to blast people in my blog or anywhere at all.

It's strange that I never would have said "Oh, Kevin Regamey only does four tricks!" because he's here to see it and it'd be rude of me. Then why is it "ok" for me to do that towards vasek?? I don't really think it is. Just because he won't see it doesn't mean it's ok to go around crap talking other peoples playing styles (we're not the hip-hop community right?). I think the fact that he doesn't post on here at all adds to his seemingly mythical presence in our community.

Basically what I am saying is I should shut my ignorant mouth so I can't jam my foot in it.

I wish more of the top players would post actively on the boards. Don't they care about all the cool new tricks that get hit? Don't they want to know who is getting good around the world?

I wonder what percentage of the footbag community (by that I mean active freestylers with good bags and stuff anywhere in the world) are actually on modified.

Why is it that certain countries are very poorly represented on here?
At first I figured it could be because of a language barrier but there are lots of non-english countries represented pretty well on here like Poland and Germany and Finland. Why are there so few from the Czech Republic or Japan?

Also I was wondering something, at a european tournament where there are players from all over that speak all kinds of different languages how do people converse?? Is there a universal happy medium? Do you just sorta 'know' which language to say things in? I am so intrigued by this because here in North America it's so obvious what the default language will be, binary.

mosher - 4 moves is a bit extreme, but i agree with you he does repeat certain strings and moves quite a bit, despite the fact that he can hit so many other huge and invent tricks. Variety is key to me, I will always appreciate how hard a link is no matter how many times someone repeats it but its always nice to see new stuff.

Dave - you are 1 of the players that is almost always hits something new in every string. almost everytime you get the bag you do something different. This is 1 of the things that makes you 1 of my favorite players to be in a circle with, along with the fact that you can bust huge, and you're just a great person to be around.

To say Vasek is the absolute best freestyle footbag player is loaded and just completely cutting freestyle down. Is he the best technical player... with out a doubt, does he repeat stuff yes.. Does Jere L. repeat stuff.. yes (almost every string) does this take away how good they are.. no. Aside from technical skill is Vasek the best out there, absolutely not, there is too much freestyle to limit you're judgement solely based on technical skill. What about style, flow, inventiveness, and other artistic elements that are all part of freestyle.

I enjoy watching Vasek the most when he is trying rediculously crazy tricks that no one else has hit, he has those cool unique tricks, you just dont see him use them that often.

Jon S. doesn't have long technical strings, with explosions of huge moves. Does this make him a bad footbag player because he doesn't do ripwalk, janiwalker, blurry whirl, and PS whirl every run? Jon is just incredibly smooth with everything he does, extremly unique and has 2 of the most technical tricks out there. How many people have hit flipwalk or twist?

Is Jorden a crappy player because he chooses to have long flowing strings using more than just his clippers, rather than just bust every single huge trick he can think of?

The No. 1 language is of course english. Almost everyone can at least speak a little bit english. And e.g. a lot of the Swiss players can speak frensh too (others also of course, not me but..

) So it works really good at the tournaments + add the positive vibe of every gathering of footbag players

I am happy with life. It's confusing and dramatic and exciting but it's life and I am pretty psyched on it. Ive got some really good things going on right now and that feels super.
