Are Rod Laver Millenium worth bying?

I have a chance to get mesh Rod Laver Milleniums and I was wondering if they were worth buying. I heard they are more bulky than original ones, but support is better.

What good can you say about these shoes? How are they compared to Lavers or NB 520?

In my experience, the size of your foot and your body type has a lot to do with how much you will like these shoes. Taller players with big feet have traditionally really liked these shoes (mostly because they have better support, I think). Sunil still plays in these shoes, and loves them. Chad D also used to play in these shoes, and I think still does. Personally, I got a pair and couldn`t stand them. I found them to be very bulky, and not THAT much more comfortable than regular lavers. I found the toes to be kinda weird feeling... but maybe I never gave them enough time. I ended up sending my pair (along with an old pair of regular lavers) to some 14 year old kid in New Zealand who wore my size and couldn`t get lavers. He put them to much better use, and got to be a real good player. I finally met Johnny Murphy in person this last summer.

I own some pairs. I dont shred in them. enough said. Going from lavers to millenniums would be a mistake unless you feel you simply cant take the physical punishment (joint aches, pains) from playing in lavers. They ARE bulky, and heavier. Clipper rstalls are much harder, need more precision due to roll-off factor of instep. I like them for comfort. they are shredable, but i would NEVER go back unless for the aforementioned reason: unbearable pain from lavers.

At the Euros, a daniish player, Søren Andersen re-bought his Milleniums from a friend of mine for ca. 50 euros, and one of the polish guys where really exited and wanted to buy them from him for something like 100 euros!

So buy them, bring them to tourneys - and go home with a profit!!!

I think I'm still buying these shoes since I'm getting pains from lavers and if I don't like them, they'll be my casual shoes.

I`m that polish shredder.

I`ve got Milleniums thanks to Mike Steffanelli ( thanks again),
thanks to barter business both of us are happy.

I agree, that the difference is huge. As Senor wrote: better comfort / worse toebox.

My old laver are almost finished, co I have to make a decision if to use milleniums, or new lavers....

What is so bad about the toebox? I checked out some pics and it seems to be pretty similar to Laver's toebox.

I hated the milleniums.

Like ken said if you have large feet they seem to work fine. If you need somthing sized 9(275mm) or smaller, they didn't really have any advantage over the original lavers.

The toe box was tiny, there was no sweet spot, and the bottoms were a little less durable than a 10 cent pencil top eraser.

I have a pair of 10.5 Blue Mesh Rod Laver Milleniums.

I played in Chad Devlahovich's size 12 pair once and felt like i could hit nuclear stuff like never before but a little worse on osis moves.

Comfort=Far Better
Toe=Better(never gets warped or wrinkled)
Clipper=Better Sweet Spot but More Curves demand precision(that's why they aren't as good for Drunk Osis)

Sunil, Chad, Gherman, Love Milleniums as do I.

I would love to buy size 11.5 if anyone has any for $80ish.

The new striped cloth rod lavers look best to me.

I just bought like 10 pairs of various 7-10 sizes of the new striped kind for re-sale.

Is it possibly to play in leather shoes? Like the Milleniums and the new Stripe Nastase are all in leather. Could you just like wear the shoe alot and maybe try and pound the leather by hand to get it a little softer?

I think I may wanna get a pair of Milleniums or the stripe Nastase.

I have a pair of the striped nasase (I think) and I cut all of the leather off, and they work fine, but then again I've never owned a pair of lavers or New balance before, so I have no GOOD footbag shoe to compare them with. The comfort is there, and it feels like a sock with a sole, but I've heard that that's how Lavers feel after you mod them.

I might give these shoes (Milleniums or Nastase), and if it doesn't work, atleast I could walk around in 'em. If I do buy 'em, I'll probably try hard as hell to break in the leather *busts out jack hammer*

Milleniums are just like Lavers but with a little bit of padding on the inside and a little more support and paneling on the outside and inside of the shoe.
It has a more rounded look and is better for atomic/nuclear set and toe moves in general.
It's better for heavier players.
And the shoes are a little lighter than the normal Rod Lavers.
They were discontinued after the Millenium although there was a brief wave of Millenium 2's that went exctint even more quickly than the original Milleniums.
