personally, I could give a flying clipper if you use my video, why should I care? My video is mine, your "remix" is yours, again your not trying to take credit for peoples videos. I'm just surprised you used Brad Milton in your mix, isnt his style just quick like? went right along with the song

Sorry for wording things harshly, you make good points Jared.

I of course wouldn't use someones stuff if they asked for it not to be used.

When I said that you can do whatever you want with it I meant specifically within the bounds of this discussion.

well.. no not even that. You still can't try to make profit off them, that is bad.

Gah, don't participate if you have a problem with it.

This all being said, how many mix CD's/tapes has everyone made? (hah!)

i've honestly made some in the past, and i guess i was just bothered by seeing MONSTERHACK.com written in the bottom. It was a vasek video with 100 bars footage and Raw_Shred. I never released it because i thought i'd get my ass chewed by the footbag community. Now i kinda wish i wouldn't have gotten rid of it last week. It was to an Aesop Rock song. if you get permissible use from videomakers that might take offense, go for it. I was being pretty hypocritical earlier and i'll step off my high horse  . I respect everyone in this community (esp. Mosher). do what you feel you should do

I think doing this does honor the work and is a positive and inevitable effect of it being given freely to the public.

But we are paying for mp3's now... at least some people...

(downloading)
I'm sure it will be a sick selection of stuff I'm familiar with, can't wait.

If `somebody` is P. Diddy... then yes.

I`m not sure where I stand on this issue. The person who originally made the video put in a lot of time and effort. Filming, editing, capturing, and then putting it to music. When I thank people for putting out a video, I`m definitely thanking them for taking the time to film and edit, both which can be tedious and time consuming tasks. I think their efforts should at the very least be acknowledged. Maybe a frame before or after the video crediting the original filmer.

So Derrick sent me this clip, and i haven't seen him in a while so i haven't asked, but i thought I might distribute it:

-removed while permission is sought to destribute-

If that doesn't work, I'll try something else... It's 14 megs, but it should go pretty fast. All just big tricks off of flipsider edited together. That is a fucking public service if you ask me.

If it's a little jumpy in windows media player, try VLC.

To quote myself a when I first joined

http://modified.ca/footbag/viewtopic.ph ... ght=#79937
hey just wondering has anyone ever taken footage from like random footbag videos and made like a music video type thing out of it... I would really like to see one of those... Also I was thinking of trying to make one, and was wondering if it would be frowned upon to rip footage from where the ripwalk ends (only movie I have) and worlds ruitines off of footbag.org ...
Oh my! How cool was I, I can't believe no one even replied to my post, I feel so unloved. It is hard to compete with Tom though... I bet he read that topic when I first posted it and stole my idea.

I was just waiting until people had forgotten that you posted it originally.

I have a big list of really great threads that people started and didn't get any replies that I plan on reposting.

This movie kicks ass.

I am going to go make one too and then if someone complains that I used their footage I will say "stop being a baby".

Hey,

Interesting topic, and one that should be addressed, the "re-using" of video filmed and edited by other people. Chopping up stuff and re-presenting it is an honor to the freestyler you are presenting, but not necessarily an honor to the editor who created the work originally. I think if you want to re-present video edited and put up on the list by some one else, the courteous and appropriate thing to do would be to ask for their permission first. That would save a lot of possible drama and miscommunication. Asking before is also a bit more appropriate than the orginal video editor putting up a disclaimer with every video telling people to not chop up their work. The last thing anyone wants is for people to be apprehensive about posting their orginal stuff for fear of it getting changed and reposted. The possibility of missing out on viewing what could have been some really great on line video is not appealing to me. To sum it up, if you are unsure, be polite, ask.
