How did You find footbag?

I started in high school. We used to eat our lunches really fast so we could go outside and hack. We thought it was so cool we could go outside during school. There was always this one kid who was good at everything, hes actually a sponsored skateboarder now. He could hit around the world and soul stall. I hit soul stall and clipper one day and decided that there is a lot to this game. I went to footbag.org. After a half hour of searching I found a video of eric wulf hitting scorpions tale. After graduating that summer I worked as a lifeguard with a freind who already had lavers. We played daily. Many children could have drowned that summer because of footbag... I think I could hit clipper and osis. 1 year later after dropping out of school for a semester, and being unemployed I got this crazy drive to play footbag with my other unemployed freind. One night I hit clipper same side legover and thought that I had the most insane trick. From then on I got more serious, met Nick miller, Josh Benham, and Kevin Mcgrogan. I found out I lived 5 minutes from kenny shultz and eventually got to play with him. From then on its been quite an addiction.

I am pretty one sided... I have had knee problems since I started to grow when I was around 14. Now I am just about 21. I am lifting now and trying to strengthen my leg. I can shred about 10 contacts tiltless and 5 guiltless I guess. I started to do some weird stuff when I started playing. I think the move is called "guay." I alway thought inside pickups were cool, then I learned inside legovers. I realized that this basically ruined my oppurtunity to shuffle seeing that neo and whatever inside pixie is called is much harder than the regular uptime sets. I guess I would say I am mid intermediate. I think I could be better but I just don't have the time everyone else on this forum seems to have to play footbag. I am very much jealous of a lot of the modified players...

Shuffle is when one dex is uptime and the other ending dex is downtime.

examples are: ripwalk (the stepping is uptime, the butterfly is downtime)
smear, pixie leg over, atom smasher, blur etc.

You have to make time for footbag. Most modified players are quite busy as well, but they make sure to find time for their passions. I myself am a college student, have a full time (40+ hours a week) job, and a girlfriend to keep happy, but I still find plenty of time to shred. You can do it, it just depends how passionate you are about it. Also footbag is fun and can be a great release from all your stress in a day

indeed. I find footbag to be a zen thing. NO matter how shitty one's day is, the kicking of a footbag gets me completely focused on that andnothing else aorund me.....it's really nice a feelling.....

I think footbag is such a relaxation time for me too.

I try not to get too fussed about not hitting any tricks or so, but its awesome to have a kick after a school day.

Im only 14 so i dont have as much work as others, but i know other poeple who work practically all week but still try to come once every week to kicks, its awesome!

yea definately i practice all i can cuz it calms me down keeps me sane but i started in 8th grade when a 7th grader brought it around. i was no good with my foot but with my knees i found it simple. then he started stallin it and doing flying clippers. i learned those then.

then i went to high school and just did it once in a while till i met some ppl that "hacked". well we got pretty good(so we thought) and we kept kicking till this year. i got quite interested in it. i pretty much dragged everyone with me. i learned the inside foot delay and flying butterfly and dragon fly. most of them couldnt keep up but one of them managed to. we unfortunately were sucked into buyin a matrix which isnt very playable for freestyle and were trying hard to get a club going. and
here we are...

AH man, what happened to Brent Colby and Geoff Fields? They were awesome personally and footbagging-ly. I remeber Geoff getting so pissed (more pissed than anyone I've every played with before) because he was dropping on a simple clipper -- he rips his laver off and hucks it as hard as he can and it gets stuck in a tree on the other side of Boulder Creek. HILARIOUS!!! That just got him even more furious

maybe you had to be there. He vowed not to kick for 2 weeks because he couldn't hit a f-in clipper...he used to punish himself like that.

Naw, that's Justin Dale throwing the shoe... From what I hear he use to have quite a temper too.

I think their was some argument over what the thing being thrown actually was. I thought it was a portable CD player at first, someone then told me it was a footbag, and now I've heard shoe...

-Circle kicking since grade 7 (a million years ago?) -- got crocheted bags for my birthday. I was instantly addicted. I could do 14 consecutives on one foot, which was big...I played in every single spare and went to school 1.5 hours early to play with the janitor's son every single morning (6am-ish).

-Saw "She's All That" in about Grade 10 and decided my life goal was to be better than "Freddie Prinze Jr." (aka Chad Devlahovich) -- rushed home and looked up hacky sack on the internet (footbag.org!)

-Looked up Winnipeg on Footbag.org. Found Hackrifice and their website; signed the guestbook and asked if they wanted help with the site. Joel called me the next Saturday and asked if I could do an "Around the World"? I said, "A what?" -- went out that same day, I think, to the weekly meet and met Joel and Mark. Mark was doing infinities, which I didn't understand. I went to Joel's house after and he showed me 99 Worlds and some earlier vids. He showed me torque, which I didn't understand for a few more years, and mirage, which I couldn't understand, let alone hit, for a few months..

-Met Dan Klokow and Zeke Ibardaloza two years later(??), I think, on a band trip to Chicago (Could hit mirage SOME times...hit 2 in a row first time there I think...and butterfly SOMETIMES.....it's really sad and I have photos from that day!)

-Took me another two years-ish to go tiltless

Well, my older brothers were stoner skateboard kids haha. so naturally they kicked around the sack. they were doing it at home one day and i got into it, and i inherited my older brothers crocheted footbag. the best crocheted bag i've seen to this day. and i would circle kick with a couple of my friends at lunch in like 6th grade. and then i was playing with my brother one day, and he was showing me a mirage, and clipper kicks. so i searched online for hackey sack and found flipsider. at first it was just to much, i was like whaaaaaat is going on. i remember trying butterfly for the longest time. the first time i landed it was at a grateful dead concert, in a huge circle and everyone gave me props haha. so then in like the end of my junior year i started getting serious with footbag. my little brother Willie Digges and Pat Tallon started with me and here we are today. Tada!

from year 7 was into hacky, just circle kicking by the time I discovered freestyle (like 4 years later) I could do 1000 consecutives...andyeah the rest is in my blog.....looked up .org and voila
