leather lavers

I have heard nothing but bad things about leather lavers. I recieved a free pair from a guy in my class the other day, and decided to try them out.

I cut everthing out. I cut the outsides of the instep, outstep, heel, and toe. I even took the broka mod 1 step further. I will post pictures when i get home.

It works like a charm, for some reason, my drifters are better and other things are improving. Does anyone else have any experience with the LEs'?

Yeah, I bought a pair of Nastase's and they were leather, I modded them a little and I'm going to mod them like yours now. I cut the insole and the toe, but I'm going to cut the rest to make them lighter, thanks for the post, cuz I didn't know how far to take the cutting.

i only shred in my leathers... i can't shred in my mesh.. too used to leather plus my mesh don't fit quite right. My leathers seem lighters too..but maybe i'm just crazy.

I really can't play in mesh lavers, I always loved my leathers.

I also did the full mod and took everything off, so long as you do a good job of the modding they will last pretty well, though the cloth material is less durable than mesh. (more feel though)

Any special tips on how to separate the leather from the mesh? It seems like it'd be an easy way to get crazy with an exacto knife and put a hole in your shoes.
Also, has anyone tried these leathers?

Hood has those leathers and he modded them all sweetlike. They look so pimp.

It is pretty easy to avoid putting holes in your shoes. Just work your way down through the leather carefully, once you have it starting to separate they will be easier to get apart moreso.

Read the leather laver mod thing on flipsider, that will help.

my friend has a pair of those black lavers. he has an old pair of the regular leather ones nad he likes those alot better. his blacks ones are worn in and are alot heavier it seems like.

can you shred in leathers unmodded? Like overtime break in the leather with your hand or by walkin' in them? (probably a stupid question

I don't like the leather at all but I can jump higher in them because they
have more spring. I just use mine for yard work and even that doesn't really brake them in enough for shred.

my first lavers where leather. No mods. They worked fine. There is barely a difference between leather and mesh playing wise

I would have to disagree with you there, in my experience, it seems my leather lavers are lighter than mesh. I also think that the leather lavers have more grip.
Also I noticed that my leathers took almost no time to break in, which seems weird, but they seriously were broken in right when I modded them.

@Lon: I haven't noticed any more spring. I think i've noticed almost the opposite, as I can't do ps whirls as consistant as with my mesh

EDIT: Well so much for the leather lavers, I just ripped them in half playing hockey

I wear my leather lavers around and about as my outdoor footbag shoes. The only mod I've done on them is the toe mod. They are quite slippery actually. I find it hard to do pixie sets and clip delays. The coeff of friction between the bag and the leather isn't as high as with the mesh. I actually learned to play footbag in the leather lavers and it was pretty frustrating because of the amount of roll off.

I definately recommend peeling the leather off (I did this with another pair of shoes and the feel is excellent), but be very careful! I had a tiny cut that I didn't even notice to begin with and eventually it frayed into a huge tear. Now I need to repair them
