How did You find footbag?

My older brother got me into hacking. I got into freestyle by watching shred on an old MTV sports clip.

me and a buddy were bored on a rainy day and he had a footbag and we started to kick in my garage wearing baggy jeans and skate shoes. I had never played before and my friend was trying to show me tricks. He was trying to do a leprechaun (butterfly) and i did it first attempt. Then a friend was trying to show us drifter (ended up actually being pixie clipper) and I did it first attempt. That was sometime in 2002. I thought that i might be good in footbag and so I wanted to learn and so did my friend. His step brother showed us footbag.org and we watched a video of a vasek routine and a ryan mulroney routine. IT WAS NUTS! Then we found the Missoula Footbag Alliance. Evan Lovely and Ben Little proceeded to teach us how to play footbag and I still love it just as much as when i first started. Probably even more now. When mid May hits, it will be my two year anniversary of buying lavers.

my buddy mario and I started playing at lunch during like 8th grade. He was so much better than me, and I couldn't stand being 2nd best. So I practiced my ass off at kicking and stalling. I always said screw my left foot, who needs it? Damn I wish I wouldn't have thought that.

Anyways we hacked for like 2 years, then his gf's brother came up one day and show us ATW, talk about a mindfuck. I was amazed. I think I hit ATW that same day, cause I could stall it pretty easy by that time. Found footbag.org through looking for hacky sack tricks in yahoo (i hate google to this day) Found hackrifice, and was amazed by chan and vandall, to this day are my favorite shredders. Thanks hackrifice

I said the same thing. could hit parkwalk before I could hit flip clipper. Man I was stupid. Oh well, been drilling flipside since my realization.

Me and my friend were walking downtown after pickin up some smoke, and then i saw a guy playing around with something, and then we walked up closer and saw that he was playing what I thought was `Hacky Sack`, but ended up being footbag...oibviously, anyways, ya he told me I should start. I did an around the world as soon as he gave me the footbag, he was like ``woah!, thats an around the world, and within 2 weeks i bought lavers!!

I started playing "Hacky Sack" my Junior year in High School. It was a very small high school with only 110 kids or whatever, so whatever the new "Craze" was, it was in. It couldn't have been three weeks later when at lunch atleast 3 or even 4 circles of kickers would be out there kicking the ol' bag. As time progressed I wanted to learn everything, all the tricks, all the stalls, ect. I remember butterfly kick as being the biggest thing I could do besides trying to beat my record of roughly 500 kicks or so (Can't remember). I did Tae-Kwon-Do the year prior to playing and soccer even before that so I always had alot of dexterity in my legs and control. I realized how much it helped me when I began playing that year. I only learned kicks and basic stalls throughout the whole year because that was all there was out there in my opinion. Regardless, I still played all year and became the most consistent player in the school by the time it was over.

Anyway, the following year after that I went to a new high school with almost 1800 kids in it. It was a huge change for me but I remember distinctly hearing about all the crazy stuff some of these kids could do. The first week I found roughly five or so kids that were better then me and they all had a nice selection of tricks like Pendulum, Around the World, Sole Stall, X-Body Rake, Pixie, and Osis.

I got better quickly, remembering now how much god damn fun hacky sack became. Every morning and every afternoon I would play, and since I was a senior I only had a few classes to worry about on an A-B schedule. I learned all the tricks everyone had by the time four months were up and also found footbag.org and flipsider by the time Christmas Break came around. For Christmas I recieved my first pair of Lavers and Tricks of the Trade 1 along with a 8 Panel Dirt Bag. My game took off so quickly from there I think back now and can only say damn.

I found the Eugene Footbag Association through a store down town and immediately gave them a call that night. I was amazed by Jason Hall, and Jason Mann, and Nate Linscott. Jason Mann had the craziest most unique links and moves I had ever seen. Jason Hall was insane with huge moves and a list of 5-Add's at his disposal. And Nate would so consistent, controlled, and enjoyable to watch at that time, not to mention his insane ability to duck like it was the easiest shit in the world was just a grandeur of exposure for me. I was lucky to have a town with so many active participants in it and sometimes wish that I never joined the Marine Corps so I could have kept sprouting quickly and getting better every week.
