Solo practice routines

Post by tuomoruutufan »

Im an aspiring freestyler.

I dont have many people to shred with and im on a mission to lose weight and get in shape. I practice almost everyday solo. but im confused on where to spend my time.

I usually try to school my clips 2 weaks then 1 strong side. Then i will hit my strongest string leg over, mirage. i can mirage both sides but dont have the trick dialed yet. i can strongs side legover in my sleep but cant do it on the other side  . I can hit strong side butterfly (almost dialed, its becoming my new favorite trick). Im also starting to use duck from toe set catching on strong side clip. I have also tried osis both sides ( i get pretty close but my rythm is off and im not supporting the delay enough) and I hit one 4 add trick pixie set>butterfly.

All of this gets all mixed up im really having troubles sticking to any kind of routine. I feel my clips and mirages need a ton of work but i love being able to do harder stuff but i wanna be a solid tripless player so yeah im confused.

Im really confused how to aproach my skooling. what percentage of practice should i put into my tricks, i skool both sides but im not sure how much i should do a trick.

Any solo shreddors got some tips i would apreciate it.

Before messing around with pixie sets or butterflies or osii, learn clipper each side such that you can do 20 in a row easily (and that's a low estimate...). Also learn atw, each side, both directions!! This is a very fundamental and very useful trick. After you have that you should spend time learning the other basic one dex moves: mirage, illusion, pick-up, and legover.

yeah i forgot to mention my atws. I have all my atws dialed except for left out - in. i cant pixe my weak side and a cant fairy on any side.

Yeah my clippers are starting to progress. i can do about 4-6 strong sides and i can do 1 really nice weakside but the i cant move to make a second weak side attempt im sure it will come in time cause thats the way my strong side felt at first.

I think learning all the basic 1-dex moves are really important.

Try to hit them all then start putting them together into drills to practice them.

Try things like mirage>legover repeat and mirage>illusion>legover (or pickup) repeat.

Think up all the different ways you can combine your 2's and drill them until they are dead easy!

Remember, both sides!!!

What about that :
50 alternating toes
20 alt insides
toe>same inside rpt 10 times
atw in>atw out>legover rpt

Sam' clipper drill
Moshers 1 dex drill

For these two, set yourself a goal
that you will try to top every time
you play. If you can hit 5 consec.
mirages each side and more than 6
alt legover, then go for the combo
drills as Tom suggested.

Other useful drills are ss clip>far
legover rpt and ss clip>mirage rpt

Solid basics are the key to happiness, and yeah both sides !

Awesome tips, i will keep those mind once im a tad bit more satisfied with my clip i will start drilling combos like you said

Im gonna try my best to concentrate on only 2 adds cause whats the point of doing pixie sets if cant do a mirage or leg over right after it.

Although i think im gonna keep schooling butterfly cause its so easy for me to hit. Honestly butterfly is easier than clipper (to me).

You still can practice your pixie sets in advance. Pixie>op knee bump. A good combo would be something like pixie>op knee bump>op knee bump>legover or mirage.
And then repeat it right after, pixie>op knee bump>op knee bump>legover>rpt makes a good drill.
