Well, the improvement that seems to have come from the rest of the blogs on here, in addition to my css motivation has pushed me to find time in my busy schedual to finally make one of my own...which means I think I will be returning to my position as fulltime forum jock.

A few quick issues to address before we get things started:

1. Would someone PLEASE fix my signature...it hasn't seemed to be working since I noticed the title changes...but I don't know how long that is. Anyway, if I'm back to regualr posting I would like to be able to save the time of fully identifying myself in every post (it doesn't really matter much here, but if I have a need to be on a lot, I'm going to be posting massively everywhere but kicking circle)

2. FootbagginBum's FootbagginBlog was going to be the original name for this thread, but outside of the footbag community, I'm pretty much known as Bum, and I know none of you call me that, but Bum's Blog seems slightly more appropriate to me since this is like "my" thread. But if you guys like the original "FootbagginBum's FootbagginBlog" better, I think that name's cute too and might switch if enough people think I should.

3. Anyone may post in my blog, however, I simply ask that you respect it. So questions that others want answered, challenges, detailed props, and tips are welcome, as well as simple greetings from good friends I haven't talked to in a while; simple props and "WOW"s, arguments, unsure statements, and repetitive posts are less welcome. Also, please don't ask what tricks are, you can get much quicker results by simply searching for the word/phrase on google along with the key word "footbag"


Now for the blogging:

I haven't organized my own tricks/goals/combos in a very long time, so in an effort to get myself back on track, I'm going to put a very old list of tricks that I hit (throughout 03) up so that I may see them often and best add to them. That way, I'll always have ideas for things that need practice, and schooling will become more systematic. Please don't give me props for these as some I haven't done in a while and most were posted in the new moves threads around the time that the threads were started, and were recognized and propped then. Many of these are only one side, or were, but lots are both sides too. I left a few flipside ones in for the sake of when I finally hit them, but don't assume it's only oneside if it doesn't say flip.

There are some diving, zulu, and same side uniques I didn't mention in addition to endless easy 3's and base 4's (like torque, barfly, and pdx whirl), but thats everything important I can think of. Now, if I just knew how to keep the bag from dropping for more than 15 moves...

Now, for the most up to date stuff, I had a small session today with my buddy shawn (the guy who taught me to play hack in the first place). It was short and not to eventful. I did the following noteworthy things:

sealed fucking pickup (first time ever, second try)
spinning reverse whirl (thanks Lon)
Dropped a perfect frantic set in a run that started with pixie tapdown (hear that Montana?)
hit janiwalk into a run (3rd time ever)
some nice runs with lots of uniques and slightly better length than usual.

And now, for the most important part of the blog, things to try, school, or drill:

a fancy torque>blurry whirl
drifter>torque repeat
school furious more (flipside first)
And most importantly, hit as many of the things on those lists that I can that I don't usually hit

Hey, you said you want to learn furious better and i had a few tips that helped me so i thought id give them to you. when your doing it, elean away from the side where you are stalling, and then do a quick symp whirl without setting. let the momentum of the symp whirl set the bag, and go right under your calf, then kinda move over and let your quantum leg come over and then drill your leg back in the ground. i think leaning away and gettting a quick pop helped me alot, so it might help you.

It seems strange to be getting tips from you, but I can't think of anyone more qualified to explain how to get better, so keep em coming. Oh, and I hope that list answers your old questions about fives.

Session on March 24: Dripping with BEESAUCE

Evan(my homie)'s parents bought the house next door to them. Currently, it is an empty, well lit, carpet lined space, with bathroom and refrigerator, which convieniently contained ample water and lots of beer, FOOTBAG PARADISE!!!... or so we though. This was to be our first session there.
It was Evan, Ben, and I, and we were just getting warmed up and had decided to leave the doors open for natural light and circlulation when we noticed the first of them. There weren't too many to begin with. Just one, then two, just a slight annoyance. But then more came. Soon they were piling up along the windows, 4, 5, up past 6, the room was slowly getting infested...with BEES! We weren't killig them at first, but now we were swatting them, crushing them, squishing them everywhere... we had already accidentally christened our new footbag space with enormous amounts of ... fresh BEESAUCE.
We abandoned to the street for safety...but they followed. They seemed to hunt us, hunt EVAN. They swarmed him, circled like vultures, first 3, then 4 of them. We'd kill them but they kept coming. It was like a Fog of Gnats with infinite swamps! (Everyone who got that gets a cookie.) Evan crushed some with his mighty PS Whirls, but it wasn't enough. We scurried further down the street, hoping to lose the infestation again, but it was no use. After running once again back toward the house after a few runs, we retreated into Evan's real house and watched Sick 03.
And that was the story of the day we made lots of Beesauce.

Now, as for the footbag part, not a horrible day, no music, so not that much length or intensity, but I did a few good things.

Hit the fairy weaving pickup (Alpine reverse magellan) first try into a run.
Did another Janiwalk into a run, though no flip.
2.66 rubbermans, which is most yet I think. (L>B>A>L>B>A>L>B>A>L>B>A>L>B>A>L)
Atomic whirl>blurry drifter>run.
Blurriest BSOS
Atomic whirl>blur>atomic drifting drop
Fusion>Blurrier
Pixie torque>paradox torque and paradox torque>paradox torque off my foot a bunch.

And I did a lot of the fearless links I hit more frequently, like the phoneix and nuclear combos, stuff into merlin, blurry whirl>ps whirl, in addition to a good number of barflys and pixie paradons. And I hit a lot of things that are pretty new or pretty old and hardly used like my sevens and backside sumo, which are good to skool. No forks or porks into blurry whirl, but I kinda forgot, and no drifter>torque repeat, althoug I did the one side again and did do a flip torque, which is still kinda hard. I think I might just go through and try all the tricks on those lists both sides 5 times and see how I do.

Anyway, big concert tomorrow, I'll be playing like all day (5 hours or more) so, there might be some highlights but I anticipate mostly long runs with more spins, ducks, and easy 3 add uniques. Those are good for public play, especially if I pass it.

Vaseks just so amazing when you haven't been around him in a while. I mean, how SHOULD one act when superduperflys link to symposium flurries? Before than event I would have tripped just hearing combo's like that. So I hope you all enjoy my cameos

Extreme Thing 2005 was AWESOME! Just as all the previous years, it was a a bunch of hack circles and a couple of freestyle ones, lots of music all day (and some really good footbag ska beats) and extreme stuff all day. I got to bust phat in a breakdancing circle, dazzle lots of new people, recruit and reencourage people who have seen me play in years past, and shotgun 3 girls about 10 times in 2 minutes, the last of which turned into a nice kiss and grope.

As for shred, nothing to fancy, just typical concert long BOP runs, with lots of DATWs, DLOs, ducking, and original backside blurs (merlins); things that look good. Also I was one contact away from rubberman>bap drill and other good tripless things, mostly trying to keep up with Evan who was doing great stuff.

Anway, it was super great, and I'm glad people are starting to read the blog, it'll give me a fan base to work to impress Gotta get back to Calculus now, but expect a post tomorrow after the two man session.

Anyway, had a lame session in the wind yesterday, got more than 15 uniques a few times, without many Bops, but nothing to good and worthy.

Got the flip atomic under my head but only tried a couple times and didn't seal a catch (need more skoolig dicipline).

Sealed crispy triage (stepping barrage) with a couple of tricks. (And added Blurrage to the list of tricks I forgot I had preblog [toward end of first post])

Janiwalk FIRST TRY EASY, though no success with flip or fury. Hey Dave, if you were me, would you even try main fury before hitting flip janiwalk? I should try to hit a couple flip flurries, I've never hit one.


Seems I am getting better, but only at like... 25 adds/hour...and I like moving at 50 aph or even faster. Time to crank the training back up. I'm gonna do something good tomorrow. Wish me luck.

LOL I think so too. And they save hella time! Theres an old zombie video where my friend shawn does couple grinds on those shoes, other than Lavers, Heely's are the only shoes I wear.

Hurray, modified works again for me!! For some reason, my computers weren't loading the page post log on, and since they were both auto logging, I couldn't get on more than the one time for like almost 2 weeks. Luckily they last thing I did before trying to log on was download wack session. That definitely kept me motivated.

Anyway, since my last entry: (only two sessions really worth mentioning, general improvement going on everyday again though)

One session had 2 and 4/6 rubbermen, 15 atomsmashers, and 7 toe blurs.

And today I hit, all for the first time (beginning to get my groove back):

-BS Whirl
-Alpine Matador
-massacre
-Fusion BSOS (first time hitting flip)
-Witchdoctor>witchdoctor
-ommlette>ommlette (not that hard, but me and Ben thought it was cool, and I can't remember ever doing it before)
-Fairy down>barrage repeat
-Inspinning osis> run (usually I can just barely seal it or drop it)
-20 ripwalks (had beaten this long ago but have had much trouble with them lately, I think I was moving back and forth too much)
-7 drifters [all 100% downtime](probably the easiest looking thing on here, but I used to have trouble [like 2 weeks ago] doing more than 2 in a row, despite having hit blurry drifter bsos over a year ago)
-And I finally hit some flip swirls these past 2 days, in addition to my first flip butterfly swirl

And, just for shits and giggles, I think it's notable to post that my friend Ben (professor on here, but doesn't post much) hit symp whirling swirl and superfly for the first time today, as well as 20 juggling contacts, all of which I gave him mad props for and none of which I can do. Between Ben, Evan "the gatekeeper" lol..., and myself, in addition to 3 three other barely guiltlessers and the enthusiastic and quick learning noobs, I think by the end of summer Vegas is gonna be a massively representing shred center...which means I should definitely be thinking about putting on another Vegas Jam....hint hint (post some good times of the year if you think you'd show, it sucks having another event taking all your people or having to play in the hot summer [July 4th], although indoors may be easier to aquire now)

Anyway, I'm schooling everything and using it all in shred now, so expect some flip fucking and flip atomic whirl in the next few days, and hopefully rubberman with atomic whirl instead of legbeater...wow, imagine the substitution in rubberman 2...I gotta get back to work on flip nuclear. Expect smoke>sumo bsos soon too.

Great shred out in the beautiful weather [if anyone wants to come play with me, NOWS THE TIME, like 72 out (give or take 3 degrees depending on sun or shade) with a noticible but less than 2 mph breeze, and everything is in bloom but allergy seasons ending.] And after the long public fan winning runs out on the ampitheatre (with lots of easy janiwalks I might add) I went and schooled in my car port. Highlights:

flip blurry torque (first try, after flip para torque first try, which is usually hard)
flip atomic whirl
flip backside smear
food processor (amazed it took this long)
Flip atomic ducking butterflys into runs
flip fairy paradon
toe whirl>gyro mirage (repeat) [first time getting more than the first 5 contacts)
Barroque (sealed clean, only done 3 or four times before and never really clean enough, or I dropped it)
And, on request and as clean as it can get (I promise): Ducking paradox dada curve (which I used to hit way back in the day into drops and usually thin)

And, so very close to (and sad I couldn't get any of):
All dexes on nuclear and shooting paradon (shooting star), no stalls yet though
Tons of contacts on fury, but all main side and all side of the foot contacts, but I'll get it really soon.

Tomorrows the long two man school/drill/shred and I plan on some bsos nuclear now that I've stepped my flip atomic up to its max, and I'm going to try flip atomic torque, flip alpine atomsmasher, and flip quantum ducking and furious. Wish me luck.

I'll keep you posted Aaron. Its funny because 2 out of three of the people who taught me hack (and who were my initial freestyle companions) are marines currently as well. I think they're in Okinowa... but one was in Iraq when you were at CSS. You should look them up: Anthony Sandoval and Samuel Chicora.

Henry: definately read the post in general because you'll see at the moment at least that Evan isn't playing...very sadly...

Anyhow, a simpler recap is Me, Ben, Evan, as the main guiltless players (hopefully Evan will return) Brian, Noe and Shawn play much less than they used too, but still to some degree, usulayy guiltessly, and Mike and Zack kick periodically, usually without freestyling, though they can both DATW. Steve and Andrew haven't missed a sesh yet, and improve every week. Hopefully they'll learn like Evan did.
