DiVx Codec

Post by calex »

Where can I download the Divx codec? Please don't say divx.com. Their package downloads the codec and a video player, which I do NOT want. All I want is the codec package (preferably with an installer). The download should be < 1 Mb. Can anyone help?

I wouldn't have created this thread unless I had some difficulty with searching for it. I was hoping that someone had already located it and could assist with passing on the information. If you don't know, then why waste your time posting on this thread? If you do know, I would appreciate some assistance.

Are you on dialup?
If you have the bundle with the player you can just uninstall the player, or use the codec in a different player. Or you could try downloading a different bundle where the player isn't included (I looked briefly for you but all the bundles I found had other codecs and jazz stuffed in, too, at more than the total size of the divx.com bundle.
Sorry for wasting your time. Maybe you shouldn't freak out at people when they are trying to help, though...

Xvid is better! Open source, no player.

Thank you for the replies. And thank you for looking Erik. I do owe Will an apology. I assumed that he thought that I had already looked on Google. I really was using this board as a last possible resort. So I apologize to Will for my reply.

No, I am not on dialup. I am just hyper-intense when it comes to programs installed on my machine. I don't like to have anything extra installed. I thought there might be a quick way to find the codecs, but I guess I will just have to either try xvid or install the player with the codecs. Thank you again.
