for joe's vid...the beginning was cool and i liked the music.
james' vid was just overall incredible. music was good. the part with the shades of white effect and stuff just absolutely sealed it for me. i say james.

edit-just watched again...it just seemed like a lot more work went into james'

I've got to give it to James. Frontier Psychiatrist! I hate you! I wanted to use that song for when(ever) I made a video!
[One of the]Best song[s] on that album, I have to say. Did you start listening to them after you saw the Finland - Late Night Jam video as well?

Anyway. Besides all that. Both videos seemed fine with editing, though James' was a bit excessive, but both seem a bit lacking in filming and filming techniques. I don't want to rag on Joe or anything, though, since he pretty much has no choice but to use a tripod. The filming in both of these was very plain, not very much interesting happening, and the shots are often shaky and going out of focus. I would really like to persuade people to get a manual focus camera/lens if they possibly can!

Yea not much work went into myn , and plus my pinnacle studio is very limited for special effects so im on the basics here , thanks for watching , i really enjoy making them, i should invest in a better software bundle.

actually i have never even heard of the avalanches until a friend had this song on their mp3 player at school like 2 weeks ago.

As to the filming being plain, I guess the angles don't really vary on mine (floor to non floor

) but as to shakyness, I do not detect that much shakyness that really takes away from the video. Also, at the time, I really didn't want to get up and walk around them for different shots or anything, you were there weren't you? It was too mind blowing to think about my angles at the time, I just wanted to observe, plus my camera was dead actually, I just kept turning it on and I would get a run then it would die again

And good call on the excessiveness, I meant to do that. I really was just looking for peoples thoughts on the effects, as I havent really seen these ones before.

I thought joe's was funny, good job joe, as usual

But I would say the only thing that struck me was the black "dead" time while the "yeah!" caption came on. Other than that, I really liked it

I thought James's actually went a little overboard on the effects, and it sorta took away from the footbag. i still voted for it though, 'cause it was edited better, and that's what the contest is about right?

I'd like to see Joe take a bunch of footage from one session and cut it together. You don't need special effects, just cut stuff tighter. The jumping from one session to the next was sorta distracting. Anyway, good work, both of you. Props on starting this off. I can't wait to compete.

And the Avalanches rock! this is the best song off the album, but the best thing is listening to the album straight from start to finish. It's an experience.

Nice work, James. That was hot.

Nice music selection and nice ending. My only advice would be twofold -- higher resolution and less laundry-listing of what your editing software can do.

I liked both of the videos, but James had a pretty big advantage with everything, a bit unfair in my opinion. Tripod vs handheld different angles - Shitty camcorder vs Better camcorder - Joe vs penske shred (no offense Joe). So the +'s, I liked Joe's intro a bunch, good stuff. After that it was mainly just some shred with a punk song about...holidays and stuff ? Although Joe, your shred is looking better, a bit more of variety than usual, longer strings, just overall better, so props to ya.

James, I liked your video too, but it's hard not to like Penske. I also liked your music choice more. This is just me being critical, so just listen to my silly opinions. I thought some of the effects that were used with timing to the music were just a bit off, with the color changing. Also someone else said, a bit overedited in some sections, I kinda agree. The effects you used , like you said, haven't been used on other videos. Well , they weren't used cause it kinda takes away from the shred and clutters the smoothness of transition and shred. Overall, a good videos back to back. Hope you guys keep makin more, take a little break for now and wait for the next one to come out. I voted for James, good stuff to both of you !
