GooD NeWs !

Had an intense, 1 hr outdoor sunset session, this is what i hit :

illusion>legover>ss clip>far legover>butterfly>mirage ( from both sides )

15 contacts of ss clip>mirage, my score from tuesday was 8 :D
8 contacts of ss clip>f. legover ( thats such a good drill for me ! )

And especially for you Max Hunter, i hit alternating clippers from both sides,
my record is 3 MIDRUN 8O

And especially for me, i hit butterfly>butterfly, also from both sides and
i sealed that with mirages, just like i did with clippers :P

Never hit that before..now, i do so from both sides, with a seal...
what a fantastic feeling !

Gang, this is newbie heaven

Infinities, here i come
:D :D :D 8)

EDIT : in my self indulgence, i totally forgot to utter my very joy about
your quick recovery, Mr Hemmer ! Good Job

See ya tomorrow, Angrod and me gonna meet an hr ealier for som pre shreddin'...come one, come all !

Yeah, I'll write a report tomorrow.

Today's Gym Session was short for me, my calf/shin/knee hurt like
mad cows during a street riot in belfast.

I wil be out of the game for at least 2 months, if not more.

I don't know, but for the past year, I've been having increasingly
more injuries and warnings from my body. Especially my right
calf and my left knee are real troublemakers. I love Footbag so
much, but my body is just keeping me from playing freely.
I think the calf will heal eventually - I'm really concerned about my
knee. I still want to be able to walk properly in 10 years time.

Isn't it odd that a sport that was originally developed for helping an
injured knee to heal has turned into a sport where more than half of the
players are fucking up their knees.

Todexon was fucking awesome, by the way. :)

Man, I hate reading about footbaggers getting injured :(

Eat healthy (take supplements if you need to), stretch and get plenty of rest! Also, you shouldn't stop doing physical activities all together. Rest until the pain resides then you want to very slowly start strengthening the injured areas like by riding a bicycle or swimming!

Take care and I hope you get better soon!

TODEXON 6 REPORT

T6 was my first international footbag event, and needless to say,
the report will be as overexcited and sketchy as most of my posts :D

So dont expect too much talk about scores, or moves or combos,
i'll gladly skip that and leave it to others (with more understanding
and better memory ), but be warned, it will be a lenghty and
subjective account !

I was flying high since we began our trip to Praha friday afternoon .
Footbag for me was our little club, my samurai solo sessions and
watching internet vids of ( mostly underaged) madmen doing things
that seem plain impossible to me .

Finally i was to meet shredders form all over, i was to meet some of
my modified buddies and footbag legends in person and i was about
to see pro shredding for the first time ever ( hadnt seen anything harder
than blurry whirl yet  ) !
And all this takes place in my all time favorite city, PRAHA, a place
of magic flashbacks and haunting houses, where i spent a lot of
summers fear and loathing style as a young man .

When we arrived at the Clown and Bard Hostel friday evening,
we met the Berlin Crew instantly, since we shared rooms with them
and straight after guzzlin down my first 3 beers, i met Charles de Paris
and his friend Pierrot.

We had a lot of good times with the Parisians, chatting, laughing,
shredding, getting high, but as it was with most of the peeps i met there,
time was way too short  ...i gotta go to Paris this summer !

I also ran into Ales and his girlfriend Jana, and we had cool talks aswell,
and Superman said, he will help me out with trick tips later on.
A very loud "FREEBEEEER " cry tore me away from Ales and Steve
Goldbergs straightness, i said bye and headded to the bar.
As i qued up for one, this wild looking czech guy asks me : are you
a footbag player, freebeer is for players only !" and i showed him
my nu fred bag and turned away. He grabbed me on the arm and said :
" Everyone can have a bag, but if you play for real, show me pixie
butter now !", i decided against that( drunk, in a crowded bar )
and told him that i'd only do so if he bust montage swirl.

There was a short pause, then he broke out in roaring laughter, introduced
himself as Dexter and i dindt pay for any beer the whole evening

The party got wilder by the minute and i sank to bad aroud 3 o clock,
hoplessly drunk, stoned, happy and overwhelmed by the great
atmosphere and all kindsa crazy impressions.

Getting up was really hard and our lot staggered out to find a bank
and to get to Akropolis as early as possible.

After walking around, eating sandwiches and meeting more shredders,
i finally met Hania, which was very nice, but we didnt have time to talk
much in these short days, but we shredded a bit at least the next day.

I played in circles with Hania, Jana, Stefan Siegert, Max Kerkhoff and
with my lot, but not for too long :x :x :x :

I pulled that fucking thigh muscle of mine again ; stupid me, i was so
hyped up by seeing Szymon ( Ners) and Ives k. shredding it up,
i had Max Kerkhoff doing his barfly>barfly drills in front of me,
and at least 86 other pairs of feet going crazy, so i kinda skipped
my warm up and went shreddin right away  ...
after 1 hr i had to stop, but strangly enuff, my good mood wasnt sullied
, there was just so much kool, never-seen before stuff going on
:D i took it easy and was in awe for the of the day/evening.

Maaan, the circles where so amazing, so were the competitions...
its too much to say about all that, but we have filmed alot,
thanks to Ebo and Mikesh, so wait up and you'll see

Only to say that much i'm very proud of Bea's taking part, and
altough the ranking wasnt fair imo, the experience was good i guess.

Szymon, you are the man, your routine was so smoove and i know
luck wont fail you next time in the sick three !

Stefan Siegert is an excellent, original player too, german champ in fact,
and i didnt even know that before i met him .
His quantum sets, toe shuffle, variety and genera lfootbag attitude
are very inspiring to say the least...
props on your second place in sick 3's man, you rock !

Ives Kreil, Ahren German...madness...words fail me...sick shred 30 stuff...
And Vasek, and Honza and Uve and bla, too many good shredders...
The rest of the day was weed, beer, czech food ( thx Dex  )
more beer ,dancing, getting my ribcase smashed in by accident, and
a very fun, oldschool, drunk, uncoordinated circle of ~8 people including
Ahren and the Todexon host ( name ? ).

Next morning, my head felt like Dave Grohls snare drum and after a slow
breakfast we headed to the gym for the sunday shred.
It was a nice, warm day and when we arrived, we played forsquare with
Berlin, Bulgarian and 2 local players. It was my first time and it was so
much fun, especially observing the strategies being used to confuse
people ; my favorite was the rulr, that you have to moan like a female
tennis player every contact, Antionio's fake atomics and the one monent,
when he said : "look, thers Vasek" and the other guy turns away and
drops ! i was in tears

My injuries didnt subside at all, but tripled, i head to deal with my
troubled leg, two "sprained" ribs and a mean ass hangover, but i just
had to play .
I warmed up, played with the guy that smashed my ribs
for a bit, rested, played again with Jana, Bjoern, later with Bea and
Charles. Leuch has a cool style, lots of ducking, spinning stuff,
nice drifters and everything looks very relaxed and controlled.

I was doing really bad, played the worst footbag of my life, but i
was smiling most of the time, especially while watching
Uve, Dexter and Honza shredding hard core.

Fuck me Honza is so incredible, he's fast, powerful, and insainly creative
busts stuff like alpine legbeater and sailing blender like nothing 8) .

Just after deciding to stop playing and after the circle with Honza, i got
up to see, what else is going on, Ales asks me if i wanna play with him.
Surprize doesnt even begin to describe my feelings that moment,
i went over, Hania joined in and we had a circle going.
Ales has a superb style, the cleanliness and timing of his dexing moves,
especially the double downs and eggbeaters are beyond comparison.
But what i like best about him is his footbag mind : he is a keen
observer, always spot on and gladly to help everybody out with his
profound understanding and his excat analysis.
Thanks for the tips and the good times !

Hania, you are truly awesome ! Your style is so nimble and calm, and
i like your selection of moves and concepts vrey much,..legbeater,
barfly, eggbeater, ducking...you rock, i hope this happens again soon
:)
To see Hania, Szymon, Stefan, Ives and Honza shredding in real time,
i was mostly impressed with ; seeing them and finally meeting the
modifiers adds a new dimension of footbag love to my world !
Tournaments are the shit 8) cant wait for the next, and i hope i have
more luck playing then

Thanks to all the hospitality, the great vibe and all that footbag madness
( it will be posted ) !

I love FOoTbAG

Uhh so much to write about, but I will wait for another day or so before I post my Todexon impressions. Anyway I'm looking through the tapes and I cannot find the sunday gym shred. Only the 10 minutes Bjoern filmed with my camera. Mike do you know what you filmed after what? Have you filmed the Sick3? And there is one tape with stuff from Landshut on it (a party, you and Philip shreding somewhere) is there also Todexon stuff on it? Hmm I just see there is but it looks like last year too me :? =)

Edit: Mike could you please check if there is still a tape from Prague in your camera? Thanks

Pixie same pickup>Parkwalk>Stepping Pickup>rpt

Pixie ss Osis>ss legover>rpt
or the long version:

30. March 2005
Today I had an Solo Session at the University Sporting grounds. I didn't know that the gyms are closed untill next Monday :D But the door door was open and I asked some gymnasts to turn the light on for me (they had the keys) so I had a whole gym for me... After a few minutes two juggler showed up, they also didn't know about the gym being actually closed :)
I mostly drilled... damn it I HAVE to work on longer runs, but I just can't motivate myself on solo sessions. Any tips?
Here is what I hit: (no new tricks but some nice combos)
5 Ripwalks b2b
Toe Set Drifter > (Clipper Set) Drifter on both sides
Toe Whirl > Whirl both sides
and Blurry Whirl also on both sides
Flipside Eggbeater

I also drilled pdx whirls and some stepping
Remember for next session => do mor dlo and eggbeaters and Atomic and LONG RUNS

Holy camoley, that is HUGE! Props for every single thing that you've hit!
I want to play footbag now
A new Ripwalk record! And you're learning Drifter soo fast!
Toe Whirl>Whirl's nice too, and finally flipside Eggbeater! Damn. Good stuff.

Anyway, I had a nice run in the last 2 days:

Adobe Premiere>Paste>Cut>Razor>Slice>Edit>Append>Render>TPMpegEnc>Upload>Hand Catch

not on both sides though. Enjoy the result!

 That really made me laugh, despite the fact it's sad that you cannot play :(

Anyway I hit Flip Eggbeater a while ago... Last monday or in Prague? Can't remember. That's why I should write mors stuff down here!
Bjoern we should archive our blog on your local hard drives. I guess it will be totally funny to read everything again in one year or so. We could even put it on our DVD as some kind of bonus ;) I just re-read some of the old stuff :D donig that made me think we all improve a lot!
