Some stiching questions...

Post by Toby »

I would like to get into stiching 32 panels and have just a few questions I need answers for, perhaps the more knowledgable stichers could answer them.

A. What is the best type of material to use? I've heard the word facile used, and ultra suade light, are these the same thing?

B. Where can I get these materials from cheeply (idealy in New Zealand) do common fabric retailers sell this kind of stuff?

C. How exactly do you close off the stiching? From a picture mosher posted I can see how to sew the bag together from the inside, but I cant see how to complete it once the bag is turned inside-in (as aposed to inside-out).

D. What is the best filler for 32pan bags? Is just plastic pellets enough? I have heard some people talk about metal bb's. What exactly should I use and how much (weight).

Any answers you can provide would be very much appreciated!!!

I'm thinking about something... and there is a very high chance it has something to do with footbag.

I'll take a "stab" at these. haw haw

a) Facile = Ultrasuede Light = the material used by all top 32 panel stitchers = can be found at http://www.fieldsfabrics.com

b) See (a)

c) The bag is completed by flipping it through one unstitched side, then you fill it, then you have to do a blind stitch. A blind stitch is done from the outside and made to look like you did it from the inside. It's kinda tricky..

d) There is no one best filler, people use a big mix of things. I was using aquarium rocks and bb's previously but I think they hurt the material. I am changing to a mix of small necklace beads and bb's for weight.
