Giving to footbag , Receiving from footbag.

Post by HooD »

Today I was thinking to myself, through the many years I've been playing footbag, what have I really received from it, what have I given to the sport. I'd like to hear what all you other given to footbag, and what you've gotten back from footbag whether you've been playing for 6 months, or 6 years, etc.,etc.

What have I given to footbag :
- I've made my presence at numerous East Coast tournaments.
- Helped host and plan on hosting the WV event.
- Helped give a demo and teach others about footbag.
- Helped numerous noobies that were getting into footbag.
- Created a website that can introduce noobies and other players into what footbag is all about.
- Created tutorials on shoe modifications.
- Created a page for exercises directed to footbaggers.
- Produced videos for all the modifiers, and people that visit my site.
- Helped other players with injury advice.
- Currently a member of the IFPA
- Bought bags from hand stitchers (thank you Lonn)
- Bought videos and bags from Freedom Footbags

What I've gotten from footbag :
- Many new good friends through footbag. Also met players around the world and learned more about their countries.
- Created an even stronger foundation to my best friends Brad and Bob.
- A direction in my future, I want to concentrate my studies towards the lower extremities.
- Better health and better health outlook.
- Knowing people have benefitted from my helping them in any sort of way.
- Added leg dexterity.
- Something to put my time and effort into, besides school and work.
- A huge conversation piece, something I can always talk about to fellow freestylers.
- A love for video editing.
- Something to plan my vacations around.
- 100's of online videos, numerous dvd's and vhs of players around the world.
- 2/3 of my T-shirts are from footbag.
- An outlet for anxiety and unused energy.
- a love for the game.

I want my biggest gift to the sport of footbag to be an established self sufficient footbag scene in Ottawa before I move away.. Starting things off with a big promo at the 420 day celebrations. I have one summer left before I leave so this season is so key to fufill my wishes.

- I am working on becoming another North American source for quality 32's
- I helped organize GLASS
- I loooooove giving out help to newbies whenever I can
- a fistfull of videos
- my most proud achievement is the establishment of the KFM.
I shall wax on that topic... I am very proud that I actually stepped up and formed a club that has since drawn to me some of my best friends. I am so happy that I have brought footbag to the lives of others and that this gift is one they truely appreciate.

Recieved from footbag:
- Happiness
- Passion for something simple yet powerful
- a badass secret skill -> the power to blow minds at will
- BUTTLOADS OF AWESOME FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- a workout I am addicted to
- the realisation that basically anything is achievable if you drill and think(not just in footbag)
- Confidence

I think we all owe footbag a biiiiig thankyou!!

What I got is an increadibly diverse and colorful group of best friends that I probably never would have met without footbag. And for that I'm eternally thankful. These may be minor contributions but I am extremely proud of what CIC has accomplished and contributed thus far. Much thanks to all CIC members and to anyone and everyone that's provided us the opportunities and help along the way. I hope that, in some way shape or form, we have made a difference and helped in the growth of this sport.

I can't say this enough, but big props and thanks to all of you that run footbag events. We're all very greatful for your hard work and effort.
