New way to break in your 32 quick
New way to break in your 32 quick
I just found out a new way, well new way to myself to break in your 32-panel fast. My friend in school took my footbag and was playing with it, and for the hell of it she wrapped a hair tie around it a bunch of times to make it look funny. and it kinda seemed a little bit looser after it was on there for a couple hours. i just got the bag last monday, and it still has some time before its completley broken in. I put the hair tie on it again over night last night and it seemed to help it even more. has anyone ever tried a method like this?

i've sort of tried that method using rubberbands, but I usually break in my bags by warming up with it and playing with it until I can't stand it anymore and then switch bags. That night I wash that 32 with hand soap till black dirt stops squeezing out of it and let it dry. Repeat process until you can play with it without needing to switch bags at some point during the session.

Sort of sounds like the hairties are stretching the bag. You can break a bag in the first day by stretching the crap out of it, but it will be a lot bigger, won't stay round, and the seams won't last very long. The best way to break in a bag by far is just to kick it or gently massage it. It takes a while, but it is well worth it.

Yeah... I really don't think this method would do much of anything.
Just kick the bag around a bunch when you warm up and when you're not playing you should always be massaging a 32 in your fingers.
Don't roll the bag with your thumbs, that puts lateral forces on the material and leads to the material getting fuzzed up (pilled) faster.
It is bad to rush breaking in a bag.

using hair/rubber bands does make a difference if you put them tight enough.....but so does applying lots of pressure to the bag (hammering it, stacking encyclopedias on it, or parking your car on it) but you will find people consider that extremely abusive to a precious footbag.....

With the parking the car thing. Is that the same as just running it over once? I've never parked a car on a bag but I've run them over. Never to a good bag though so don't call me a bag abuser or anything. I just wanted to know.

i layed my abshire against my tire and just let the car move slowly onto it by feathering the hand brake....then when my lunch break was over i slowly rolled off it and put it back in my pocket. i dont't think that is even close to what might happen if you DROVE over a bag . but i did that last july and I still play with the bag, and I have had nothing but props on how playable it is. I would never really suggest doing anything that "retarded" or "ludicrous" to your bag though. unless you stitch your own bags and have a large number of bags to ruin on a whim.
