Self-Propping (for the comedic footbagger)

Post by Senor Grommet »

In the past, I have often been the first person to give myself props after i hit a move during circle shredding.

This self-propping phenomenon may appear in the following forms:
1) an enthusiastic "yeah!" during the middle of one's run before others
even notice the move you hit
2) a muffled "hehehe" or "hahaha" when you know youve hit something
the first time, and no one else knows
3) smacking yourself in the ass during a run, usually accompanied by "nice move sexy!" addressed to ones self.

I know Ive done the first two, I and I am a bit ashamed of it- in fact i think it is even more disrespectful than the self-serve or even pleasuring yourself.

On a different note, I have only seen the third behavior executed by Sam and Chris. Usually, one of the two does it to himself, and thereafter, the two seem to take turns smacking eachothers asses. Its really quite puzzling. I didnt know what to do: look away or just enjoy the moment?

Have any of you self-propped?
Are you ashamed or proud?
What, if any, other behaviors have you seen self-propping take the form of?

I have (only because of your explination of self-propping).
It only comes in the form of a "Yeah" when I hit something new or dificult. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with that, especially for novice novices, like myself. The extacy one feels when hitting a new trick (especially in a free shread) only naturally leads to an orgasmic cry of joy.
You don't need props from others when you know how well you've gone, yourself. If they know what's been produced, then they'll give props.

If you hit it, Props will come.

Well, I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I ALWAYS self prop, but for 2 very good reasons.

1) The majority of people that I play with can't tell what is a good run for me and what is a bad, I'm the best they've ever seen and they get used to not giving props, even if I give them props for a 10 add string.

2) When I play with good people, only one other in town, they can't tell if I did a good run or a bad run or what because they don't play with me enough, so unless I do something really super good, they won't give me props either :-(

3) If I do get props, its usually for something easy, so I have to tell them I can do better and then push the bar too high.

So yeah, I'm a big fan of the self propping but only because of context, it'll change once I get the rest of the people in Vegas good.

Haha! I self Prop all the time! Most of the time I play by myself though, so someone has to give me props, and if that someone has to be me, then so be it! At worlds last year I was playing in a big circle with Yacine and Dave Holton and a bunch of other people and I hit Gravedigger for the first time and yelled 'YEAH!' really loud. Most people weren't watching though and they all just looked at me funny. :D I was stoked though.

No one in my school really shreds (I have a couple of guys that are just learning) so I have to give myself props a lot even when I play with them. I tell them that what I did was hard after I give myself props usually. Or I get props on stuff that isn't that hard but they think looks cool. Enough rambling though. Self-Props rule!

I do the opposite of self-propping. I talk to myself when I mess up. I say to myself sarcastically, "Nice miss on the clipper Curtis." I do it all the time in disc golf too.

to see cool self props please watch whirled shred. Check out lon haha. People start busting up in the background.

Due to popular demand (three people) I made a new Version of whirled shred!. This new version is called Whirled Shred, Lmtd. "Red Label". Also contains over three hours of bonus material not found on the other tape. My point was to leave no blank tape. 6 hours long total (just shred included). Appearances by: Krueger, Nicholson, Mullen, Carlin, Munster, Lincoln, Babel II, Kahn.. If anybody watches it all the way through..... you need help.

<me>Steers thread back on topic</me>

Sometimes I giggle or go "weeee" if I hit something I either can't usualy hit, or have never hit. In winnipeg I was spazzing after runs but that was mainly because it looks rediculous sometimes and we were filmin.
