Help starting shredding
Werd g-units.
I been kicking in a circle for 10 years. I have very precise basic kicks, with very good aim on putting the bag somewhere. I can stall on toe, inside, outside 99% of the time and sometimes on the heel. Ive been playing in a circle so long that its not easy to start freestyling really like the way you guys do it. But im gonna do it anyway.
What i was wanting to know are some pointers on the first set of freestyle moves and practices that i should learn, you know things to get me out of the circle mentality and into 'stylin. Should I learn the clipper first or what? It seems to be the basis on a lot of other moves.
I dont know any living people that freestyle, trying to find some in Denton via footbag.org but its not going very well so far. Otherwise i would just hang with them and learn. But i love this community so far!

1. Get a good bag. 32 are nice but are steep; a good 32 runs around 30 -50 dollars. Abshire's are the most popular 32. You can get them at www.monsterhack.com OR www.freedomfootbags.com Or by PM ing him on the fourms. I don't have the exact link but he nickname is "richardabshire" and guess what his name is*?
Also, you can get a Mr. sandman. It's alot cheaper than the 32 (8 ish dollars) I play with them right now. The proablem is that the can stall really easy, thus making you lazy. You can get them for www.worldfootbag.org or the site mention above.
2. Lavers. The shoe for freestyle. Just get it. I was doubting at first but it raise your game soo much.

1. Yeah get a good bag.
2. Get lavers (or something suitable...you won't REALLY need Lavers if you found a "In the meantime" shoe...but you'll need 'em once you progress)
3. Learn basic kicks, (which I belived you have).
4. Learn controll...like...you should be able to do 50 in no sweat...and you must have EACH side cordinated (as far as kicks).
5. Learn the basic stalls, (toe, inside, outside, etc.) BOTHSIDES
6. Clippers!!!! MOST FUNDAMENTAL AS the basic stalls. BOTHSIDES
7. Once you dialed (and by dialed, like you should be able to hit it 99.999999999 if not 100% of the time) learn some basic 2's. ATW (Around the world), Pixie, Fairy, Leg over, Mirage, Illusion, Pick up, etc.
Practice a trick untill you've got it dialed (you can also pract. other tricks simultaneously.) BOTH SIDES!!!
8. Become a STRONG TILTLESS PLAYER (Tiltless=one who is able to string 2 add tricks). Go for long strings with cool combo's and style. UTILIZE BOTH SIDES!!!!
9. Start 3 add tricks (you can start them even when you're doing 2's...but
don't worry about doing harder tricks...just worry about skooling your tricks you can do, hitting them midstring. Then go for another trick.)
10. Tell you're friend about footbag, INFORM THE PUBLIC! Start a club...have weekly sessions, etc.
11. HAVE FUN, PRACTICE, SHRED ON!!!!!!!

i can;t get 50 kicks in a row and im trying add3 stuf. i was told by someone the kicks would come when the stalls come so i would say don;t worry bout them as much if you can do more than like 3 then ur okay to be doing add2 tricks. the more tricks u have in the bank the more u will string together and the more confident u will become

I find this to very misleading and incorrect. When I initially started playing I could only really kick with my left inside, right toe, and right outside - and not for very long, at that. I got to be tiltless and could easily link 10 tricks or so, but my right clipper was still very hard for me. It even got to be that I had my right clipper, too, but there was still a gap between the two. My friend suggested that I learned to kick with all of my surfaces, and I did. While this was a long while ago, it helped a lot. My right clipper gradually got easier and my control of the bag improved. Also, if you can only kick the bag a few times, when you play at a tourney and can't pass the bag with your feet, you're going to look like a fool.andrew wrote:i can;t get 50 kicks in a row and im trying add3 stuf. i was told by someone the kicks would come when the stalls come so i would say don;t worry bout them as much if you can do more than like 3 then ur okay to be doing add2 tricks. the more tricks u have in the bank the more u will string together and the more confident u will become
Haha I would have to agree with Sam. I STILL don't have my toe flick kicks very well yet and it is annoying. I have started to learn them now
I also tried to skip most of tiltless stuff and went to guiltless. For a while my guiltless runs were longer than my tiltless. Kindof a dumb idea because I eventually had to go back and learn everything anyway. Build your game from the bottom up, not the other way around. You are only as good as your foundation, and yes that does include kicks.

Andrew, there not being harsh. There just trying to help you as best they can, and they gave you some excellent advice. Every shredder has to start somewhere and you have to start at the basics.
Andrew i recommend you concentrate on your kicks for a couple of weeks.
Toe kicks, inside kicks, inside-out side kicks, toe delays, clippers. If you can get these very solid, You are many steps closer to going guiltless my friend.
P.S keep working at your 2 adds as well. Just plan your time better to work on the above.

In answer to your question, I for one prefer to work to a time plan. eg i would have 8 drills i want to work on so i give them 15mins each. You should work hard at getting a trick pretty solid before moving on. And once you get it solid, chuck it in a drill, so you practice every now and then. Keep a list of drills and choose which ones you want to work on each day.
Some people say adds are shit, and in some cases they do misrepresent how hard or easy a trick is, but for newbies like you and me, It is a good system. To hit 2 adds, you need your 1 adds down, to hit 3 adds you need a combo of two. eg pixie, 2 add, mirage 2 add, smear=pixie mirage. like mosher said "shuffle=tiltless double time".
That is a freakin excellent term.
good luck andrew.
Shred with thom as much as you can.
