Almost everybody I know has a futon. They are great. Just remember to fold them up everyday, and when its nice out, air them out in the sun and beat them. This keeps them clean and smelling nice.

I have been sleeping on the same futon since I was a kid and I LOVE IT.

Are you talking about the Japanese futon or the American futon. Japanese futons are big cushions that fold into three, if that's what you're talking about, those are very comfortable. American futons are the couch thing with a cushion over the frame. When you want to lay down you just pull it out. I don't think they're comfortable, you can feel the frame all night and you wake up all stiff from the bars. A friend of mine put plywood over the bars and it made it a bit more comfortable.
