Juggling Thread

Post by habitat »

I started juggling a little after SJFF last year. It's the funnest and most challenging thing next to footbag to do, plus its uses the other half of your body!

I want to hear others comments, acomplishments, new moves, anything that has to do with juggling.

You should practice doing windmills. Catch on one side, throw from the other. Balls go in a circle like with shower, except your hands are going across instead of doing a throw across. Mills mess is doing a patern of windmills in one direction, then in the other direction.

Start with 2 balls with in right hand with right arm crossed over left arm, left hand holding one ball

-Throw a ball from your top hand to the right while uncrossing your arms and throwing the ball from your left hand to the right
-Left hand catches first ball you threw from your right hand and crosses over your right arm simultaneously
-Right hand is now underneath left arm and throws remaining ball and catches the ball thrown from your left hand
-Here you reverse directions by throwing the ball in your left hand, which is now on top, and catching the ball that is still in the air. You should be able to figure the rest out from here.

Throws should feel kinda like reverse cascade throws.

Yesterday I tried passing with 7 clubs total. It was tough. Throwing and catching double throws at the same time is tough. I fed (passing to 2 people) for the first time yestesterday too. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

If anyone is in the area, I will be performing original concepts in juggling and spoken word performance art this Saturday night at Tawes Theatre, University of Maryland, 7pm in conjunction with the DC Congress of Jugglers.

thanks peter, I watched a couple videos of you juggling and learned a couple new cool moves.

One of them is the little swinging drop juggling. ie, right hand juggles 2, while left holds 1 ball while swinging it left to right and drops it as the other ball rises. I dont know, its pretty fun though.

Do you have any favorite paterns or moves you share Mr. Irish?

I have lots of juggling tricks, but it's hard for me to teach or describe them here.

Lately, though, some favorites that I've been working on:

Balance a ball on a stick balanced on my foot while balancing a stick in my left hand and juggling 3 balls in my right hand.

Juggling 3 balls while in a straight jacket (on my feet, of course), end the juggle, then escape from the straight jacket.

Juggling 5 balls on a rolla bolla on a 3 ft high table.

Spinning 6 frisbees on various parts of my body while jumping a rope
swung by 2 volunteers.

Stuff like that. These are not easy tricks, but I've added a few of them to my show already and the rest will be there in the near future.

EDIT: Oh Brad, I checked out that site, pretty sweet stuff. I did notice that the #1 flair bartender is also from Czech?!? Man, they must be a talented country, I must visit some day

James,

Thanx.
Unfortunately I'm not a teacher. I cant teach you siteswaps or describe patterns without showing you, but the best resource on the web is:
www.jugglingdb.com
If you havent been there you must check it out. You can find instruction, vids, ect. ect. Anything you need.
Also for 3 ball juggling I recommend a video called "3 B Different Ways" by Peapot video. That vid has enough 3 ball stuff for a lifetime, and plenty of siteswaps, starting from the beginning and going into the void. www.seriousjuggling.com carries it I think. If they have it, buy it there--those guys are super cool.

Yeah, the bartender flair stuff is great. The world champ--who is Czec--actually performed at Worlds 2003 in Prague on Saturday night. He is fucking incredible. I sat there front row blown away by that dude's skill, and he handed me the drinks he was making while performing, which were nearly as good as the demo. Awesome!

Sometimes they have juggling tournaments on ESPN 2; they're pretty sick.

Hey I hit a new juggling move. I don't know what it's called but basically a three ball multiplex into a shower. The three balls are all in a line in one hand going up your wrist. It was cool anyway, since I'm a horrible juggler. I can do Mills Mess and The Box too, but that's about it. Can get a couple of reps of 4 balls.

it sucks now that I can't juggle. I sold my freedoms so the only things I can juggle with are random objects such as pop bottles, staplers, and a mouse or something.

i cleaned my room up today so my mom let me use the credit card to order 3 juggleing bags off freedom.com, i was pleased i think? when i got a call 2 hours after my i placed my online order an was told they didnt have the colordo shred shirt in small an only in a large :/ oh well i wanted the footbag shirt on worldfootbag.com any way. but i was glad to know they prosessed my order so quickly just made me glad. im currently useing rolled tightly, socks. they run away when i drop. i been practising alot an am geting alot better alot fast. here is a web site i found that really helps if your like me an only intrested in 3 ball juggleing. http://www.twjc.co.uk i cant play footbag inside my house becouse its to loud an jumpy. so i juggle bc it gives me the same... high as foot crack. so yaaay juggleing.... + footbaging with juggleing is rare an not done often, an is actuly really easy when u been footbaging for a year an got juggleing down good enogh to do tricks. Mix it up.
