I personaly like:
1. White pents and then just random on the hexes (like the scraps from previous bags).
2. Orange on light blue
3. Black and white
4. Red and blue
5. Light purple on dark purple

...crap my list could go on...I like them all, until you show me an ugly colored
bag.

yea i like some of those... but wat im really looking for is what two colors are the thinest in material.. you know so people who read this topic know what color bags they should get next time there order from a sticher... so far i think the blue and light blue is pretty good for the footfighter only...

other bags.. green faciles nice and thats about all i know...

I'd say darker colors are stronger as raw material is produced white to allow it too be colored easily. As real colors (no light colors) are subtractive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtractive_color), they are getting darker as you use more color.

Using more color means more stiffness.
Then there's a diference between different colors as they are made of different materials. I don't know much about that, but I think the darker = stiffer is a good rule of thumb.

plz correct me if I'm wrong.

Darn it I remember the old blurry world used to have a list of color combos that rich thought broke in well, and played well, it's probably still on here somewhere... the only one's I remember were the money bag (dark green and light green) and a yellow pents green hexes one.

color combinations are not they only factor for breaking in well - the most
important one is a matter of stitching, I think:

a comparison:

My abshire mini is yellow with green pents. Richie said in another thread,
that this is one of the "strong color combinations" that break in fast.
The bag took me at least 6-8 weeks of break-in time to be fully shreddable.

My Ilja bag is light blue with warm orange pents. After 3 days of
working it with my hands and washing it once, it has become so soft
I can already play with it - Give it a couple more days and one wash
to be fully broken in.

My Sorbi Facile bag - orange with blue pents. After working it in my
hands for 2 weeks and washing it once, it is still superstiff. It seems
it hasn't broken in at all.

All of these bags have different stitching styles, different fillers and a
different feel.

My point? *cough* From my experience, color combinations aren't
as important for break-in time. It's about how you stitch it.

I'd like to hear a comment from experience stitchers on the board -
since I never put a hand on needle and thread, this is all based on
assumption.

well, I don't want to criticize you, but I think that's quite clear.
I think that entire color question is for bags from the same stitcher.

Then, there's the fact, that thinner material develops holes a lot faster, so break-in time ain't the only important issue

well the thing with breaking faster but ripping faster isnt really that important..i think

you see, alot of people think that if you get a bag thats all say white and then you get a bag thats all brown... everyone would say the white bag will rip apart faster(considering if whites thinner) but the browm will last longer.. alot or most people will get the brown but what they dont realize is that its not like the brown will live a year or 5 months longer thant the white one... it'll prob only live a few weeks maybe a month longer... so im pretty sure id want a bag that would last me about say 4 months after breaking in.. then 5 months but having to wait a month or two for break to occur.... see what im saying

correct me if im wrong

Just for your records - Charles Dupuis gave me some of his white facile from fieldsfabric--- it was really thin

I got some white from fieldsfbabric- and it was thicker -----as thick as the bluegreen of charles he gave me ....

I do not know but the my white is too thick to use and me green is a little bit thicker than the others but no comparison to my white and charles bluegreen.

Btw my black is really thin - so in my opinion it depends on more than the color.

Are there any other stitchers out there who ordered from fieldfabrics and get one color which was definitaly thicker than all the others???

I ordered 10 different colours from fieldsfabric and they were all slightly different. Particularly surprising was the thickness in two different tones of white. The whiter one was incredibly stiff and did not feel very nice. The creamier white on the other hand was much more supple.

In my opinion, the width of Ultra Suede Light does not generally depend on darkness of colour, but entirely on the specifics of a particular colour. Hence it would be really useful if we established a list with all Swatches(=number that specify an Ultra Suede Light colour) that make for good sewing.

What do you guys think? Is there any way we could all make a list with all good sewing swatches?

I like that swatch review idea, though the vailidity of that system relies on the consistency with which they make the material.

If the colours seem randomly thick it may be that the thickness they aim for has an acceptible tollerance limit and the stuff we get falls within those bounds but from one round of Magenta to the next round of Magenta it may vary.

So... how about a little help from some more experienced facile buyers?

I think the fabric will just vary from batch to batch because of the manufacturing techniques.
