All New Jersey Spike and Shred

Post by Outsider »

Hey Everybody!

We've been planning this for a long time, and details have been tricky to work out but we're finally ready to announce:

The All New Jersey Spike and Shred!

Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)

Somerville, NJ 08876.

This is going to be a serious footbag event, featuring freestyle and net. We're talking all the bells and whistles: food, music, parties, prizes, etc.
I'm not even totally certain quite how much stuff Jack has already managed to hook up for us, but I think you'd better come out to see for yourselves.

Speaking of prizes, we've (Jack Keller and I) already secured some very generous donations from everybody's favorite footbag sewers. Big big thanks to Richie Abshire! Carol Wedemeyer! Lonn Irish! and especially Daryl Genz! (everybody come on out and win some of this great stuff!)

Oh, um, lets see. All the relevant info can be found at

http://www.JerseyShred.com

So, we've got all the makings of a great event, now we just need the players to show up. Sound off if you're thinking of coming. And post any questions here.

Doh!

I love NY (and NJ, I guess), but its the same weekend as the green cup.

Maybe next year.

Jack's putting together such a sick tourney for us. I'm definately coming and anyone else who can possibly make it NEEDS to!!

I think he is planning to give crash space at his store. But there's no host hotel.....yet.

Important Announcement!

For everybody thinking about entering our event as a competitor:

You MUST pre-register online by May 10.

That is just barely two weeks from now. The entry fee is not the main issue here, the issue is that we need a list of competitors. We are coordinating our event with the other, much larger event of the Tour of Somerville bike race. We are being supported by them to a much greater degree than we ever anticipated, and we are going to be featured very prominently before the crowds. This is really a very big opportunity for our event in particular and footbag in general, and you should all take this into consideration if you are thinking of coming to this event. It should be a rare (and hopefully to be repeated in future years) opportunity to showcase our sport and garner support from the local government and also the race promoters. However, we have to make some small concessions to their beaurocratic ways, and so we need the competitors to sign up in advance. If you do not register by May 10, you may not be allowed to enter the competition. Please take a few minutes to go to our web-site and sign up.
