matador>ripwalk>matador and some crappy contacts. (nuclear bsos like I said)

AND about 20 times back and forth (two man hacks) with a 41 year old BLACK man. Talk about a rare occurance. I'm trying to get him to come to a session.

Lots of good standard stuff and simple 5>5s, Ben thought it was cool when I did blurry whirl and paradox torque along with some standard 5s in a 10-15 contact run. Still no fury, but still really close. Gonna keep working. Tomorrows a skooling day, but I might not get to it...if I do, expect fury.

Peace all,
Bum

PS: Whirl, no, j/k...I just wanted to point out that when I close with "peace", which I've been doing a lot lately, it has nothing to do with the fact that that was the thing for most of the nineties. I'm just really positive, hate war, like love, am a philosophy major, and think we would all be a lot better off with more peace...so I spread it where I can. Anyway, later guys.

EDIT: ooh, page 2... not posting as much as I used to (like mosher, lol) but definitely foruming consistantly again like back in the day...it feels good. I wish we'd always had blogs.

quick recap on yesterday:

Most of my time to kick was taken, but I started to play anyway, but I realized that progressing so fast on an everyday basis, I barely got more than warmed up before my legs were really feeling it, so I bailed on the schooling part, but did hit a couple wee drills, and was impressed at how I hit Atomic torque, atomic barrage, and bluragge on on the first trys (and thats opposite barrage dexes)

So, again I say that today should be the day for fury...and since I'll have lots of eyes on me it should be more than doable. Here's hopin...I'll let everyone know what else comes out of today.

And everyone should read Ben's new blog. Ben who you ask? just go see..lol

Peace and good shreddin,
Bum

April 14th:

FURY!!!! Yeah! first pro that ever came to Vegas since my inception was sunil. I always loved this trick, finally got it, int oa perfect easy had catch that could have been anything, even a merlin (I just was so shocked and happy)

Also, other goodies:

Legbeater>sumo repeat (woohoo, here comes rubberman 2)
Drifter>dlo repeat (much less exciting but flip dlo was always hard)
Pixie whirling x-body rake (fairy seems easy too, should hit it saturday)
And once again I hit s+m smasher on the first try, and later again first try in a later session (and the second time it was floppy sand!)
Quantum whirl first try into run too, thats usually hard.

Oh, and that makes me think to mention what I normally play with, since I haven't brought it up. I have a nice mini abshire that is my main bag, and Ben has one really good abby and one less broken in one. We use those some. I used to use floppy sand until css (but that was only for like 3 months since I killed the felix...man youguys emember the felix? Half ya'll touched it at worlds...) Mini abby type bags and french ones are small and heavy and really nice for all my crazy toe triple dexes. (hehe, I sound like Pinkus)

Here's a fun thing to note, lets see how many of those toe to toe triples I have. Hmm...

(in order of difficulty)
Smog
Pixie Barrage
Flog
Pigbeater
Pixie Merlin
Fairy merlin
Crispy trixie
Atomic Barrage
Tapping DLO
Same side smog
Same side flog
pixie DATW (same foot, and I have to make sure I can do this, I thought I did it when I hit Maggello)
Atomic Merlin
Quantum Merlin
Atomic DLO

well thats 15, and I have to work on Blade runner and quantum barrage, and I guess enterrage and tapping eggbeater wouldn't be that hard. Ooh, and I could try putting sets in front of massacre. Oh, and I'll try slapping dlo and eggbeater too.

There, thats some good toe stuff to work, now if I just keep drilling all the fundamental 5s and the hard 3 and 4 add elements (drifter, swirl, blender, dyno) my clip will be set. Then I can do grifters and fluxes...I can hit em but not often, and I don't think both ways with both yet...

Anyhow, thats a good recap, Andrew and Jeff the new guy are doing wel too, and you can see for yourself Ben's awesomeness. Peace e'reybody ;-)

session with only me and the newbs for hours today.

They're gonna be so go-od 8) . Lots of tiltless contacts, mirage> legover repeat and clip> op clip at 2 months, and legovers, mirages and rakes at 2 weeks. And good style and variety in the other 2 month-ers strings, he's getting real control of the bag and his legs while dexing.

I got filmed by a random film magor, hit my 7 (atomic Merlin) for him first try into a good run with spininng clip>spinning butter>spinning whirl in the middle (at least 20 contacts). So I feel good about that, and some other runs I did (a few longer ones even), but with no other guiltless players I did few hard tripless fearless combos, though a couple..like i hit Phoniex>sumo>smoke (only 2 fearless) and then had to bail to a simple clipper from the ps whirl attempt, but got a whole nother 8 good shuffle contacts after an osis that started the next guiltless section of the run. I'm taking tomorrow off, but I think I'll play Monday, I might rest fully to Maximize my body's potential for tuesday...I do have an hour warm up of ai kwon do before that leaves me great to footbag after 15 minutes and some consecs, so waiting shouldn't weaken me by leaving my muscles unprepared, I don't think.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to post some video of me soon from this guy, and maybe you guys will get video-ly introduced to my new students. Keep up the hard work everyone, and keep up positive attitudes about your game; you'll get better much faster if you do.

Peace 8)

Ya know, I realize I was doing 6 adds all throughout the day yesterday and didn't get any props for them pretty much cause the newbs can't really tell the difference between my easy and hard stuff yet. But I think I could prolly hit a beast pretty soon if I tried. Things like shooting mirage>pixie merlin>fusion and fusion>BS whirl>mullet come to mind... I should really see if any of these are doable. Any beast would surely be a nice notch on my footbag belt. I'll think some more, work on em on tuesday and let ya'll know how it turns out. It seems I could do some 6>6's no prob, so I should have some of those to post.

Ooh, ooh, and what about atomic barrage>fairy merlin>plasma, that's be sick! I'm gonna work on it!

No beasts yet, but no perfect session conditions lately either. Tomorrow should be awesome though, and I'm about to school right now.

Quick crappy highlights include:

Merlin>merlin>run
Slap>toe blur>slap>toe blur>tap>atomsmasher>tap>atomsmasher>run
1.5 rubbermen into 10-15 contact run

Trying to get used to this new level of intensity as well as make best use of drifters and blenders. Maybe I'll post some more after I school, but expect some kind of update by Sunday.

Peace,
Bum

Edit: Oh, and toe blender bsos

a bunch of mobiuses with lengthy runs (for me) of effortless styley easy threes, fours, and fives (again, easy for me). Nothing that hard, good combinations of elements though. Should have done eggbeaters, I forget about those.

I should make myself lists of moves I have to do every session in certain quantities, and change them every other week, creating the next list while working with the current one with all the things i'd want to do right at those moments. I never school hard enough because I always get excited about something else and move on too soon. If I made sure to eventually get to my spurt of the moment ideas, I could work on stuff longer and do better when I started working on the hard random thing that I would have normally wasted my schooling energy on.

My first list will start with lots of both side eggbeaters and swirls, and end with 20 blurry whirls (in the session, not at once) If I could just work on that stuff and both side everything (and eggbeaters and swirls are the only really troublesome flip elements aside from furious) I'd be so much better just in that. My runs would be so much longer if my flip clip had enough control to swirl well.

Oh, and I hit flip fairy ducking stuff today, that was cool.

Later guys, tommorrow should be sickly.

No, frantic set in the middle of a run, that started with that sailing same side butterfly we were trying in the hotel room. Sorry I can't come to Montana guys :-(

LA is gonna be awesome though. Can't wait to see how you've developed since css Aaron. Being out of Iraq and having a footbag crew can do wonders for your game.

So I just woke up from the CRAZIEST cool dream I've ever had. In the dream, the coolest chick in the world jumped in the shower with me and told me she wouldn't move to Reno while we secretly kissed (which no one could no about, because even in the dream she had a boyfriend). After the shower we went to this huge event with like 5000 people, like half of which I knew and was really excited to see (and vis versa), some of whom I haven't seen in months who I used to see everyday, and some I hadn't seen since elementry school. After mingling, I was making my way back to the awesome girl when they served infinite dessert of every kind ( I was eating this weird parfett thing with kiwi, mmm) I get back to her and in the center of everyone, they started a big pogo stick race (!!) and had all the high school bands playing in unison all around. The second the pogoers were out of the way from the starting line, I realized that the spot was a flat surface in the middle of thousands of people, all watching, most who knew me, so I was gonna footbag in the center, but I didn't have footbag shorts :x So, since the location is a weird dream version of my high school, I run off to the locker rooms to ask to borrow PE shorts, and cant get in at first, but then a guy lets me in even though the coaches are in class, and the whole room is full of tables with new PE clothes on them. Guess what they say. The new uniforms for my old school were gray and black, and they said:

Czech Footbag Shorts!!!

Like it was a brand or something!! They were gray sleaveless t shirts with little hoods on them. But before I get them on, my old best friend who I haven't seen in 4 years bursts through the door, and I jump on him and give him a big hug and am so happy that everything in the world was the absolute best it could be...

and then I woke up. :x :x :x    :(

Just plain sucks! I've had a pretty awesome life lately, and am stll enjoying it, but come on...waking up SUCKED!! And I didn't get to footbag for everyone! I would have been a god in Czech Footbag clothes, I know it!

Anyway, just had to vent and make sure i didn't forget it. Later guys.

  Thanks man, I'm tryin ;-) A philosophy major does what he can. (I could write eveything I quoted on Lon's blog everytime I read it. )

And Kevin, you're damn right you will :D . Even if it has to be Seattle or a Vegas Jam, you'll be seein me sometime in the not so distant future. Evan too I would hope.

Anyway, had a session today, kinda wierd, good combos and uniques and some drills, and set three new world records of mild difficulty (you'd beat them if I told you ;-) ) but I'm not to impressed with my visible progress right now. I guess I'm just already back in one of those strength and stamina improvement stages...it does make some sense though, I do do lots dexes really fast. It would make sense that adding an element or two, increasing average run length by 5-8 tricks, and increasing difficulty ratio by .3-.5 would make you wear out faster and perform with less consistancy. But, now that I think it all out, my legs should be fully used to the difference in skill by the end of the weekend. Playing with Pinkus or Bap guys makes me perform at the fullest intensity, and since I'll have both, and Sam to push my both-sides, I'll do well at this level there, I should be able to come back and improve after.

only 4 quick higlights:

-pixie barrage>flog
-smear>ss smear>smear> ss smear>tap>atomsmasher>
tap>atomsmasher
-24 smears (half the record)
-And one record was 11 backside smears (that one is good enough to talk about I guess)

maybe there'll be some good stuff to post from tomorrows skool after school. Til then. Peace.

Got no time, but heres a really quick update:

Predator (first) > run
A beautiful marius into a few guiltess contacts before the drop
S + M smasher > Pixie merlin (6>6)
DLO>Merlin both sides, gotta hit it repeat style in Cali.

Can't wait for the weekend, it's gonna rock. See some of you there. Peace.

HOLY SHIZNIT THAT WEEKEND WAS OFF THE HOOK, I TELL YOU WHEN I SAY IT!! BETTER THAN THE SHRED SYMPOSIUM!!

Where to begin...I think this post is gonna kill me because I usually type to much and now I've got more to say than ever.

First, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH SAM, FOR EVERYTHING! YOU'RE THE MAN!

Now for a quick timeline from this perspective:

I tried and tried to get there on Friday, but got shit done, got a cool ride, and arrived Saturday at about 2:30 after going to Penny lane to find out everyone was up in the mountains. Mike (Taber, founder of the Zombies, my first teacher, and my ride to the event) was all pissed at how far up this road we had to go, and then we had to drive straight up a dirt road that he thought was wrong to the top of this mountain, but once we got there, he thought it was the coolest place he'd ever been and walked around for hours. Anyway, so I jump out of the car and see Lon's big ole smile and new the weekend was gonna rock. I greet everyone I know, meet Ted and Jeremy's girlfriend (ugh, why'd I go and forget her name), and re introduce myself to Blackjack, who I came to realize was as awesome of a guy as a shredder. I jumped straight into shreddin since everyone else had been going for hours and got some decent stuff out, but even if I hadn't, playing with Lon is always just heaven. Even when it's just full hacks. (Highlights of what I hit at the bottom) Luis is our next Lon, and the first person to hack drunken style as his default (everything smooth and plantless, except the rare shuffle contacts which blow you away cause you don't expect them; he says he's gonna encorporate more, but meanwhile I'm going from fours and fives back to threes to look like him). Chris is always a pleasure to play with cause he's so unique in style, and so positive and energetic to be around, to bad he doesn't live here n e more. It was great to see Reile kicking again, I think we've inspired him to start anew. Overall though, the session was sickness. That night we went to get Pizza and went back to Sams, where I crazily decided to start shredding again and got Luis and Chad to join in, even though I was already hurtin. Did some cool stuff, and Sam had to make me stop at 1:30am. Next morning (like, 7AM) we all got up and went to cool spot number two which didn't have too much shred, but Luis and I competed for the world record of "curve"s, aka original legeater. I did two (the record) and then he did three (the newer official record). Then I went and became ONE WITH NATURE. There was this tree that grew up parallel to the ground about 6 feet from it, and then got higher. I couldn't climb the tree I wanted to yet, so I tried and failed to get passed the paralell part of this one, and then realized I could lay down on the trunk completely balanced. I got totally comfortable and relaxed, with the only sounds being the multitude of birds, the slight wind in the trees, and the beautiful trickle of the stream beside me. The only things in view were the green leaves and the scattered blue behind. And the temperature was perfect. I reached a total Zen extacy state and was loving it until some mexican kids had to come running and screaming to the spot right next to me (even the they had the whole stream) so soon I got off and joined Luis now that we could climb the super tree. He got all the way to the top, and I was at least two stories up, and we both found places to lay down and enjoy ourselves once again, how perfect. Then, as some of the group went to awesome spot number three (of which I'll only get to appreciate when I see the movie) The rest of us went to shred at the botanical gardens with my famous shred beats. It was good fun working with Mirken, and eventually it dwindled to just Luis, Emily and I for about 2 hours of painfully enjoyable shred. Emily was off the hook busting every drill we could give her, I and I was doing as Lon and Luis suggested and working Butterfly>pdx mirage>osis repeat for as long as I could. Then, after we were dead tired, the rest of what was left of the group came back. I got to re warm up and shred hard with my music with Fournier, something I had been long awaiting and enjoyed to the max. We were hitting every beat of the music and my runs were nice and long, which is my weakness in shred. We went back to Sam's place and said goodbye to Lon and Emily, where Reile and I stayed up half the night and had a bonding type of time we'll never forget. He is definitely on the list of my close footbag homies now. Woke up early in the morning for my only day of filming, which went superbly I must say, although not what I expected. The trip was sadly over, and after a few great goodbyes and being officially made honorary OOPS, Chris want kind enough to drive me to the greyhound, help me kill the hour, AND buy me lunch, at the stupidest McDonalds either of us had ever been to. What a great guy. The weekend was so great...I would be a profession poopsmith for a living if I was promised an event of this caliber every 6 months, lol.

Trick highlights:

I hit and believe I evented atomic curve (toe>op out>op in>(simple) op in>same toe.

Spinning vetus/wauspin...which is like a firefly drag caught on your toe.

Unveiled my pinch set phoenix

Pixie barrage>pixie torque>nuclear drop

Busted bap drill sooner that anyone could, and dominated rubberman.

Hit atomic merlin into a sick run (I mean, anything starting with a 7 is sick, but this was like 15 contacts strong guiltless after)

And my favorite combo of the event, asked for by Luis and now one of my favorite drill:

Stepping mirage>tapdown>blur>atomsmasher>legbeater> repeat all into a great run. This felt so awesome. If somehow we can ask the community to find out if this has been done, I would like permission to name this the Baumerman drill.

Thanks for the shoes and the granny bags Lon :-) Miss ya already  I can't wait to see you all again, your all welcome to stay at my house free whenever, as long as you promise to shred hard :-) I think I have more to say, but its late...so thanks to everyone for your part in this awesome adventure. We'll thankfully get to remember it for a lifetime when the film is finished.

Sorry for the length, but I censored my self and warned you, but thanks for reading it anyway. As Chris said, "Long live California [footbag]"

Peace to all, especially the shredders.

Hey great work on that stuff Loren and awesome to hear that you had such an excellent time!

I may have hit that drill I'm not really sure - but I've definitly hit a lot of similar combos - I'm sure other people have too. But I really like the name, and will start calling it that "Baumerman Drill" from now on! Actually I'm calling it "bomberman drill" - but I realise it could be "bummerman drill" - confused. Bomberman drill is a cool name though - and it's a really cool combo - nice work!

Thanks man, I like it a lot, I'm sure people may have tried it too, but it should definitely have a "man" name like rubber and plastic, and I'm busting it like crazy. Yesterday I hit it again into like 20 contacts with a bunch of fives and all the base elements, a dlo, a spin, a duck, a barrage, a couple whirls, a symposium, and a few filler tricks, but easily kept the ratio above 3.5, and felt SOO good about it. I'd really like to ask around...

and "Bomberman" would be the pronounciation, I say "Baum" like bomb, it would just be a cute way to leave my mark on some shuffle.

I also hit 4 ripwalk freezes in a row and a bunch of bops yesterday...thought I'd throw that in in case Lon see this. Anyhow, probably not playing today due to finals prep, but the short sesh tomorrow should be sick, as well as Saturday, so stay tuned sports fans ;-)

Peace,
Bum

YES!!! Baumerman drill is absolutly the perfect name. Thanks for hitting that right in my face Loren.

atomic curve is sooo swick!! I shall hit that someday.

Yeah Loren the tree climbing was heaven! we shall climb again someday.

Next time I see you, you have to hit 5 merlins in a row. PEASE? I know you can do it.

Peace
