How do you support footbag??

we were thinking about starting a club just for the university here too. all you have to do is "form" a club. or something. i dont think it costs any money. and you get free access to the gym. im not really sure how it works.

woohoo, I really get to support footbag now. Bruce Guettich and Randy Nelson are in town doing the Las Vegas Super Show (worlds biggest sporting goods convention) and I get a pass and get to kick at thier booth all day monday and tuesday and hang out with creators of the sport. Woohoo, I'm so excited.

I didn't say THE creators, I just mean ancient 80's people who helped get everything off the ground. They contributed to the creation of the sport we play today.

I know all my footbag history, and I'm sure I will know even more than that after spending 2 days with Bruce and Randy.

I have always prided myself on the things I've done listed on the second page of this old thread. But I have something to add now.

I have finally created a successful Vegas footbag scene. It seems like lately I've gotten to play with different people everyday, and enough of them drive and support each other as a higher priority than getting stoned that the club is now officially growing stronger every week. Now most of them are dfferent levels of newbs, I mean besides me, there are only 3 others that can go guiltless, and only one of them does most of the time. (I am very strong guiltless for reference).

The club total, good or not, merely interested and trying, of ACTIVE players stands at 14. (16 active in the last 6 months)

*Shred hard as often as I can at school in between classes
*Started the Missoula Footbag Alliance
*Footbag in Montana ('nuff said)
*Convince every person I can to get a pair of lavers (even ordering them on my card)

*I plan on hosting a summer open footbag shred along with the 1rst footbag comp hosted in Montana

-Founder of CIC, helping the growth of freestyle in Chicago

-Won Intermediate Freestyle at Midwest Regionals and National Freestyle Championships. Everyone I beat there is better than me now, lol.

I understand these are minor compared to some of the ones I have read on this thread, but I am extremely proud of what CIC has accomplished and contributed thus far. Much thanks to all CIC members and to anyone and everyone that's provided us the opportunities and help along the way. I hope that, in some way shape or form, we have made a difference and helped in the growth of this sport.

Someone said above something like "just generally being a cool person". That's right on. I try to be open to shredding with anyone and explaining things to anyone (the best compliment I've ever received was from Bill Hamilton at his Spring Footbag Jam a little while ago.. he said "It's obvious that people feel comfortable shredding with you..")

Anyhow, I've run some full blown tournaments, a bunch of jams, have co-founded Philly Footworks (now arguably the biggest freestyle team on the east coast), have taught numerous players the game, have been a friend to footbag parents (which has an underrated value), have NOT flamed anyone excessively or been rude to anyone on any of the forums (which is huge in my opinion.. for some reason, many seem more likely to be rude and mean on these forums), and other stuff.

Mainly I just like to shred where people can see our team and ask questions.

Newest method of promotion = we're constructing a professional looking sandwich board with information on the sport.. it'll include business cards with relevant web addresses etc. I think this is a good thing to do.. some people are too shy to come up and talk to you, so offering another method of education is a good one.

Last two comments..
1) I was quoted a few pages ago, but I don't remember saying that. Just thought that was funny.
2) Are we all sure that we want the sport to grow faster than it's growing already? I'll not tell you my answer.. just food for thought.

*edit* some very with it stylers have a separate thread going on this same comment.. it's in the general area called "Something to think about".
