weight loss
My main motivation to shred so hard everyday is to loose weight.
I would love to here any weight loss tips/stories to keep me motivated.
I guess my story is inconsistency combined with a bad diet. I have always been athletic but i have always been fat. for every hour of my life that i have broken a good sweat i have matched with video game time. This has left me about 30-40 lbs overweight. It doesnt stop me from doing anyhing a skinny person does but im sick of it. its un healthy, uncomfortable, and im sick of the fat kid look. if i have to shred my ass off for the next 2 years everyday i will fucking do it.
i know nothing about weight loss so realisticly with a portioned bad diet (but a great drinking diet water/juice only) and a ton of shred what rate of weightloss can i expect

Eat more healthy food - no McDonald's etc. for a while. The most important thing would though be giving up the snacks like chocholate bars, chips... and lemonade.
Less fat, less sugar, more vegetables. Less snacks and coca-cola.
I said less, human body needs _some_ fat too to be healthy. Eat regularly and enough, don't eat all the time.

First of all, if u really wanna burn the fat, the best time of day to do that is to do it morning, this is because you have had nothing to eat for energy and the only source of energy when exercising is your own fat. Using ur own fat as energy will help burn so much fat its not funny.
And your diet, keep drinking the water, keep ur fluids up, and a good protein+fat diet is good. U do not need as much carbos as u think, foods with fat is good when on diets like this because u can use the actual fat as energy instead of slow burning carbos (AND I MEAN HEALTHY FATS, NOT MCDONALDS FAT) eg. natural cooking oils, animal fat is not as good because it can cause high choleterol levels.. Protein is needed to repair tissues and muscles, and to keep ur body toned, but exercise is needed.
EXERCISE AS MUCH IN THE MORNING

When I stopped smoking I was a bit scared on putting on 10 / 15 Kilos (30 pounds). So I forced myself to do several things:
- a steady healthy diet: Sandwhitch or salad at lunch, normal diner, NO SNACKS WHATSOEVER and no soft drinks either
- exercise 5 times a week: 50 abs and 40 push ups a day during the week. This takes up roughly 5 minutes of your time per day so it's not really excessive
- footbag 2 or 3 times a week
- go easy on the alcohol
I ended up losing about 10Kg and then putting it back on in muscle.

About drinking diet:
Drink water or something else, but it CAN'T contain any sugar! So.. juice isn't too good, because it has a lot of sugar in it.

AWESOME. thanks for the tips guys. I seem to be on the right track. My big handicap is the lack of veggies. I cant eat veggies they make me sick i cant even force myself to do it. so im gonna stay with the healthy drinking hard working and the no fast food diet. and hopefully i will one day be 30 lbs lighter and guiltless

if you want to loose weight do not panic!
it will take time - one kilo bodyfat contains 6000-7000 kcal - take a deficit of maximum 500 kilocalories per day - refeed one time per week or per 2 weeks. ie 500 *6= 3000 -1000= 2000 kcal /per week so do not think to loose 10 pounds a day
on the refeed day eat about 1000 kcal above your normal ( = before your diet) amount.
this will reduce the self lowering of your metabolism.
there are long term effects of a diat - so the crash diats are a nice feeling for your weight , but they are useless for loosing fat.
there are a few things which I do not recommend for a diat in combination with footbag.
- do not go with high prot and high fat
- do not run on an empty stomach - the energy bilance is important neither time of sport nor time for your meals . Energy is energy.
- low carb diets are not good for your recovery. Running in the morning will cost too much energy so your muscles are not fresh enough to improve your footbag skills as fast as possible.
the most important thing is to do some research yourself - improving is a process not a receipt . there are so many aspects could be done in the wrong way .
some tips to avoid big mistakes:
these is not a list which will guarantee your success, but it will suggest you some things which should be considered.
what should you eat :
58 % carbs
30% fat
12% prots
carbs:10 % of the carbs should be sugar ( fruits)- rest polysaccharids
fat:make sure to eat enough of the essentiell fat acids- i would suggest to supplement this with fish oil
prots: pay attention to the combination of meals - search for good combos.
hope this helps.

Interesting, I thought human body can only gain about 2,5 kg pure muscle mass per year at MAX with right diet and really much of workout... Or so i have read from somewhere. Though you have might done that for 4 years and so on..max wrote: I ended up losing about 10Kg and then putting it back on in muscle.
Back to topic: basic principle when burning fat is to burn more kalors than eating. Many has writed some good replies but did I miss jogging? If you are also for increasing your stamina (longer runs, less huffling and puffing) do 3 times a week over 30 minutes of jogging. Because after about 30 minutes of running your body will start to burn fat to get energy after it has used it´s "short time energy". Your heart beat should be somewhere aroud 120-150/minute. That should do it for start.
Please correct me if something is wrong.

I can testify to the jogging. For rugby we have to do a jog 3 times a week during our lunch break. One of the guys weighed 17 stone and was running the circuit in 30 mins plus. This was in september and now the guy has lost ALOT of weight is alot fitter and is now running the circuit in under 21 minutes.
The biggest killer for me is the snacking. because im so busy i very rarely get time for proper meals and eat alot of sausage rolls, choclate etc because i feel i need energy for my activities.
But stick at it and you'll gain you reward!

I dont really like the idea of jogging.
The reason I play footbag is to avoid jogigng.
Jogging is so boring, doing even tiltless strings for 20 mins would give just as much workout as jogging eaisily.
Jogging is very bad for your joints. I know footbag is too, but I believe you have to jog for longer to get as much workout as playing hard at footbag alone.
If you must do some tedious time consuming boring fitness, I would recomend cycling.
It is more enjoyable than jogging, actually good for your joints, good for your fitness if you push yourself(best way is to find a big hill and cycle up it) and is very good transport.
Only downside to cycling is that it can be dangerous in several ways, a lot more accidents happen cylcing than jogging lol.

The difference between footbag and jogging is that footbag is anaerobic and jogging done on the right heart beat (pulse?) is aerobic. Meaning with anaerobic your body burns fat but produces more lactic acid and giving you less energy from fat than aerobic workout. So you may be more tired after 20 of footbag than 1 hour of running but running is still way more effective.
And about it being bad for joints. Yes it´s true and so is footbag. Jogging puts around three times your bodyweight to the knees and ankles. Think about how much footbag does to your feet with big symposium moves? Plus when you are jogging you probably have better shoes than lavers?
And if jogging feels boring think about buing some cd/mp3-player. It´s much more fun to run with good music playing on your ears.

I agree jogging can be boring. But if you set times for yourself to beat or jog with someone else it will push you alot harder and end up being way more fun.
Jogging with earphones is also a good idea as Antti said. I dont do it personally but alot of guys do and they prefer it alot!

there is a training adaption effect which should be taken into consideration for burning calories.
one example
testperson 1 :31 years 180 cm 72 kg male
white collar job, playing squash for 5 years - 2 hours per
week--the calculation relates to one hour of playing squash.
testperson 2: same data as person 1 but the the regular training consists 8 hours per week.
both have the same kcal demand on a non training day- around 2500 kcal.
person 1 kcal demand rises to 2750 kcal on his training day ( one hour sqash)
person 2 has the ability to take more oxygen -> more energy will be produced - the demand of his training day is 3100 kcal .
summing up there is a big difference of your energy sonsumption due to the ability how fit you are - one hour squash burn only 250 kcal for person 1 and 600 kcal for person 2.

Speeding up your matabolism will work too. If you eat 3 big meals a day compared to 6 small meals, you will have slower matabolsim because your body knows its not going to eat in a longer amount of time, so it stores the food (as fat or whatever). If you try eating 6 small meals a day, your body knows it will be fed again soon, so your body knows its okay to burn the food faster. If you try this, you will start noticing a change in about 2 weeks I think (14 days is the amount of time it take for your body to get used to a new routine).
As others said, eating right is HUGE. My friend lost about 15 pounds when she gave up eating greasy foods and drinking soda. Water is really good for you.
Exercising before breakfast burns 300% more body fat. A light 15-20 min jog in the morning may do a good deal.
Keep at it and pretty soon you'll have lots of energy and feeling great about yourself.

FYI: Under strenuous excercize (like footbag), the suggested amount of water to drink is at least 8 quarts (but no more than 12) in a day, or about a quart an hour. Even if you're not doing anything strenuous, drink 8 quarts of water anyway.

Hey, what about us skinny people who want to GAIN weight? I'm six feet tall and weigh exactly the same as i did seven years ago: 137 lbs. I want to gain at least ten pounds - hopefully all muscle. The problem is I'm a vegetarian. I've been thinking about drinking more beer to add calories to my diet...
Any other suggestions?

Yeah i have a freind who is working his ass off trying to gain muscle weight and he wines and cries about it.
I understand how that can be frustrating but you should never compare that to an over weight person considering there problem can one day be lethal you dont have much room to compare. Loosing weight is far far far more important than gaining.
if your looking for tips on gaining weight you can talk to my buddy adam pm me and i will hook you up with his AIM name.

I think you should try jogging, people have bean doing it for years so i see how it could hurt you joints. but you have to have good shoes though. ive been trying to lose some weight latley too. i jog at the ymca and do about 60-70 sit ups and about 40 push ups 4-5 time a week and its been helping. i also play soccer so that helps alot. but thats about it
just have a healthy diet and exercisie that will help.
